My go to place for delicious Cuban food. I come here very often with friends and family. This location is great because the outdoor seating is pedestrian only and often times I come with my pups. It's located right across the street from a large park and the area is very lively and family oriented. The service is consistently outstanding, the food is also fresh every time. The menu is so expensive there's a little something for everyone. And the drinks are always great. Reservation can be made, but we almost always get a table when walking in. They sing happy birthday to you with instruments, making it a great place for a birthday celebrations. this review is from last friday as i forgot to check in! wanted to try this place for the longest as my coworkers always talked how great this location is. so why not? it is about a 16 minute walk from the path station (newport) it's really not that bad of a walk (for those who don't mind walking that is) okay got to the restaurant and it was picking up as this was the start of the dinner hour. No live music but they were playing spanish music which sets the mood greatly. now if you wanted a quieter setting i'd advice eating outside, from the music playing and the groups of people having loud conversations it was a bit hard of hearing when i was asking the waiter questions. so we order the Tamal En Hoja (one) and no i completely forgot to take photos :( very soft and not too dense and i do enjoy pickle onions on top! okay for each of us: one had Vaca Frita, one had Masitas De Puerco, and our child had Camarones Ajillo. i have the Vaca Frita which came in the cup made of crispy plantain chips. Meat was not salty (thank the stars i'm on a low sodium diet because of my Bp so i was enjoying this) with the arroz moro and the side of lime was amazing. the family did enjoy their meal as we did not wait to long for the food to come. the nose level increased and it was definitely harder to hear what the waiter was asking us. but that's okay we all enjoyed ourselves. what i DID get a pic of was the desserts: Tres Leches and Flan con coco Tres Leches was good (not too sweet and the added chocolate balls made it good too) Flan con coco kind dens but flavor was there and i love coconut (it's coconut flakes on top) I will come back and try a different dish and maybe eat outside. for those who can't handle loud noises best to have earplugs (loop) or eat outside i guess. the staff treated us nicely and my son and i do look for that in places i go to make sure everyone is treated well and respected. read more

Everything was absolutely delicious. We started with the empanadas and tried every flavor, my favorite was the jam one, but all were really tasty. I got the Cuban bowl and it was soooo good! I'm a big fan of plantains so I was so happy the bowl came with some. We also got the Mariscada plate, the amount of food you get for the price is crazy good! The plate was huge, we were very happy everything was so delicious. The restaurant had plenty of seating and we didn't have to wait at all even though it was a busy night, the service was friendly and they helped us with items on the menu since it was our first time. So I came here today and I didn't appreciate the service ! I ordered a pitcher of sangria and received water glasses instead of wine glasses, I asked the waitress for wine glasses because that's what I've always been given when I order sangria and her answer verbatim was we don't usually give wine glasses, meanwhile the couple behind us had red sangria in a wine glass, she seemed bothered by my request, the sangria came out and it tasted like nothing but water so we kindly asked her to bring us two glasses of wine. We sat behind another group of people which were given a rack to put their bags on, and we had to put our purses on our seats. The food today was mediocre. I never complain about the service in this place because I've been coming here for years. However, today I was rubbed the wrong way.. then I asked Alex to speak to the manager, and he said that he didn't know who was the manager today. He said it's usually Christian and I asked who is it today and he pretended not to know so I said okay I'll call. So I walked away and called and it was Steven and I explained to him what happened and he seemed to be understanding. I have never experienced this service here and I don't think I want to go back. We sat an ordered drinks & appetizers. The drinks were ok the calamari & empanadas were yummy. For our entrees were ordered the churrasco, the chicken & the paella. Everything came out good although we had to wait a lil bit for the main course (granted we were a large group.) Most items fried, all items tasty. - Cuban Flatbread: Not my top choice because I hate mixing sweet and savory, but the guava BBQ is at least an interesting flavor combo. - Ensalada Tropical: For my health-conscious friend. The best thing about Rumba is the consistency. They have several locations and you get the same quality of food and service at each one. While it is not the best Cuban food I have ever had, they give great service, the food is decent and you know what to expect. For me the best part about the Jersey City location is the outdoor dining. Regardless of the season, if it's a nice day they will let you sit outside. They are very accommodating, the waits are never too long and the Clifton location has valet parking if you're feeling fancy. I've been to Rumba Cubana several times and the food is always great. I love the tapas menu and have tried many of them, the prices are amazing and I haven't had a bad one yet. My favorite are the corn fritters, the tamale, and the chicharron, but they're all good! Their chicken noodle soup is delicious, and their ajiaco is very tasty and comforting - basically a sancocho. After trying several of their entrées, my new favorite is the "poquito de todo" which reminded me of a Cuban version of the bandeja paisa. The egg is over a really delicious rice, It also comes with avocado, maduros, ropa vieja, and roast pork. Tip: the empanadas come with a really tasty hot sauce, not very spicy, but very flavorful.
