Came here on a Friday evening and was able to secure a parking right in front and two adjacent spots at the bar. Ive been wanting to try this place for a while so I was happy we got the chance. For drinks, I got the rum punch. For an appetizer, we got the jerk chicken egg rolls, which was really good. The sauce on the side was really good. For dinner, I got the curry chicken with the roti bread. My friend got the stew peas. My curry chicken was okay but the sauce was not think enough and the curry not spicy enough. Saw this location on tik tok and wanted to give it a try but was unfortunately disappointed. I came here to celebrate my 26th birthday with my friends but everyone's experience was unpleasant. For this to be a carribean spot, it was disappointing. The mac and cheese didn't have any taste, the nachos came out cold, and the jerk chicken tasted rubbery. All in all, it gave us high school lunch memories. Horrible Customer Service!!!!! No consideration for customers that have been waiting for near an hour. Called to reserve and was told I had to come in to reserve . I called when I was close to make sure if there were seats and what the wait was told 15-20mins...come in and make the reservation. AGAIN. Then proceeded to wait from 810p to 9:25pm watching Tom, Dick, Harry, Suzy, Janet and Dawn...go in , come out, wait for others and go in with friends and still I wait. Thankfully about 45mins in a car was moving from the front of the establishment and I was able to bring my car and sit out front. Almost 9:30pm still waiting. The $60 order we took home for my Boyfriend & son had such small portion sizes of the rice and plantains, the goat could have been much more tender and too much cabbage. Personally I could have gotten twice the amount of food for half of that $60 and better in texture variety. This spot was on my list for a while. Finally got a chance to visit today. I will gladly be going back at some point. I'm from NY, so Caribbean food comes a dime a dozen. But living in NJ, it's been tough to find. This place was really nice. Good staff, good drinks, good food. The jerk Mac and cheese was a hit for me. Definitely enough to share. The oxtail were good. For appetizers we had the saltfish fritters and jerk egg rolls. Definitely recommend both of those appetizers. They were very flavorful and piping got when we got them. For my main I got the banana flambe French toast which someone next to me recommended because of how much she enjoyed hers. It was very good and it wasn't overly sweet or too indulgent. I used to come here a lot. Tonight was a flop! I bought my niece here for the second time. I noticed today that we were the only brown guest (ironic right? ). The service was super rushed and on top of that we were billed with auto gratuity of almost $30+ For two people ??!! Technically 1.5 since my niece is a child. When I disputed the auto gratuity based (and I'm not cheap - I would've personally tipped more than $30...but it's the principle being that it was only two of us...why auto? ), the server said "yes it's usually 4 or more people"...so why did we get charged? My experience dining in was pretty good. My sister made a reservation for Sunday around 7:00pm. Did not have to wait long to get seated. We ordered the jerk chicken roti quesadilla and jerk egg rolls from the small bites section to share and those two dishes were so yummy. Then for our entrees we both got the curry potatoes and chickpeas. It was just okay but we definitely enjoyed the small bites better so definitely recommend those. For example- $14 for a small side of macaroni and cheese, and $29 for oxtail. The music is also mostly bad because there's no rhyme or reason to the song order and it's mostly NOT Caribbean music, which would lend to the vibe more. The cod fritters (forgot to take a picture bc they were devoured in seconds) are absolutely amazing. My favorite app ever! The meat is so tender it falls off the bone. First time trying to oxtail , which was also cooked to perfection and tender however the consistency was too runny for my liking.
