I found this hidden gem as i was walking home. The service and food was amazing. The food was quickly made, great portion, beautiful presentation and the taste was incredible. I highly recommend this place.

Good food at a great value. Got the half chicken special and was not disappointed at all either in terms of the quality or quantity. Service was very prompt. Haven't tried delivery yet but highly recommend picking up to go.

beans were cold and straight from an old can.

Honestly I was a little hesitant ordering from here because of all the negative reviews but to my surprise when the food arrived it all looked amazing! The portion of the meals were more then enough, I ordered the lomo saltado, papa huanchaena, side of beans and green salad. The food was super tasty and even still hot when delivered. Will most likely order from here again happy I took a risk!

Leche de Tigre. Super small and it's $8. Not good.

Very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I called for a pickup order and was told to give it half an hour. I arrived 40 mins after calling and my order was still not ready. Waited outside for another 30 mins before my order was ready. It's my second time here and they do the same thing every time. I definitely won't be coming back. Additionally the meal I ordered barely had enough meat. It was mostly potatoes. The rice was very oily and when I asked the front desk lady if I can have some of their green hot sauce, she told me it was gonna be a $1 additional. Crazy that I had to pay $1 for one little small hot sauce. Unbelievable. Lastly, their "leche de Tigre" was not good at all and also very small despite paying almost $10 for it. Will not be returning. Very rude and unprofessional.

I absolutely love the food at this restaurant!!! I've never physically been to the restaurant but have had Fastboy Delivery, delivey their food right to my door...two times so far!!! Each time I've ordered from them I've never been disappointed. I ordered this food for delivery from El Rinkoncito Whole Chicken Fried Sweet Plantains, Chufa, House Salad and French Fries w sliced Hot Dogs in it...yumm!! I'd never had Peruvian food before but if this is what it's like keep me signed into the happy club!! The chicken tastes like it's been marinated for days! The flavor is truly to the bone. As I said I ordered from them before and I had the same order with the addition of their Ceviche. I've had plenty of Ceviche in my day but this one literally melts in your mouth! OMG!! I'm telling you this food tastes like someone's Grandmother was in the kitchen making everything by hand. It's got a home food taste and feel. I would like to try the Chica Morada (purple corn) drink one of these days. Peruvian food is delicious and that green sauce they have definitely needs to be bottled...OKAY!!! I'm definitely a return customer by way of delivery but one day I'll find the time to drop in for a sit down dinner.

Lomo Saltado and Arroz con Leche

As a Peruvian, I love trying new place all the time. I have never been so disappointed. It was the only Peruvian place near me with dessert and i was so excited. I have never felt more let down. The arroz con leche was fizzy and spoiled. The lomo saltado was absolutely bland. The rice and fries were dry, the steak was super firm and dry. The alfajores crumpled so fast from how dry it was. And the lucuma tasted more like coconut. I am so saddened honestly. I was so excited and now just sad.

I was so glad I somehow found this restaurant on yelp and gave it a try. It was so great. There was a large portion with a reasonable price. The ceviche was fresh and tasty. We like that best. We packed the leftover home.

So I ordered vía ubereats and was rather excited to order from a new Peruvian place. First off the timing was longer then expected. I ordered Salchipapa, arroz chuafa, pollo combo con ensalada. To start off the salchipapa was a scam. Tiny cut hotdogs, soggy French fries that looked as if old oil is being used. The arroz chuafa was the only good thing that was tasty but even then on the oily side which is why it's 2 stars and not one. El pollo lacks flavor and is not that soft. Kinda disappointed at this rate and then only gave 2 tiny half filled of green hot sauce. Only one tiny dressing was given for a big salad. Overall, I wouldn't order from here after this when other places have killed these dishes.

    Pollo a la brasa

I'm Peruvian and picky about restaurant Food because it never tastes as good as homemade food. This however is authentic good cuisine. Service was friendly and prompt. The owner was hands on and friendly. If you're new to Peruvian cuisine start with pollo a la brasa which was delicious. Big portions as well and very reasonably priced. So glad I discovered this gem!

The Lomo Saltado is the real deal

As someone who has not only eaten Peruvian food all over NJ, but even in the country of Peru, I can say with conviction that this place has the BEST Peruvian food around here. I would even say it has better food in general than any Spanish-style restaurant on Central Ave in JC and the surrounding area. The prices are definitely on the high end, but that's what you expect when you're getting great food. (The Papa La Huancaina is to die for) I talked to the owners, a Peruvian family, who moved here and opened shop with the mom cooking all the masterpieces in the kitchen. As good as it gets.

The restaurant is colorful, lively, and has a great atmosphere without feeling too formal. We started with the Tuna Wantacos. Our server warned us that they were spicy, and he was right -- definitely a little kick, but very flavorful. The white fish ceviche was bright and refreshing, with that tangy, salty leche de tigre that really wakes up your appetite. The Lomo Saltado was hearty and satisfying, but my favorite dish of the night was the Seafood Arroz Chaufa. It came topped with an omelet and had squid, fried shrimp, and plenty of seafood throughout. Really comforting, savory, and filling -- I would absolutely order this again. We also had chicha morada and a passion fruit drink. I've always liked purple corn drinks, so the chicha morada was an easy favorite. We finished with a chocolate dessert, which was a nice ending after such a big meal. Overall, a very enjoyable Peruvian dinner with fun décor, good flavors, and plenty of variety. I'd definitely come back, especially for the seafood fried rice.

We left with the impression that this is probably the kind of restaurant someone should visit for their very first introduction to Peruvian food--not because it represents the best of Peru, but because it offers a simplified version of its flavors. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's clear that a significant investment was made in the design, atmosphere, and overall experience. The service was friendly, and we noticed that many of the servers were Colombian, which isn't surprising since Colombians are well known for providing excellent hospitality. However, there were moments when it seemed that some of the traditional Peruvian flavors and drinks weren't fully understood. For example, the Pisco Sour we ordered was much sweeter than it should have been. We decided to start with the jalea, hoping it would set the tone for the meal. Unfortunately, it did the opposite. The dish was overly salty and lacked the balance and excitement that a great Peruvian jalea should have. Instead of reminding us of the vibrant seafood flavors found in Peru, it tasted more like generic fried seafood than an authentic Peruvian recipe. After that dish, we chose not to continue with the rest of the menu. To make matters worse, both of us experienced stomach pain afterward, which confirmed our decision to leave. One thing that also caught my attention is the restaurant's description of its food as "approachable Peruvian cuisine." Making Peruvian food approachable should never mean lowering the quality or authenticity of its flavors. Simplicity and accessibility can absolutely coexist with exceptional taste. The beautiful atmosphere should be matched by food that delivers the same level of excellence. Considering the premium prices, the culinary experience simply didn't justify the cost. If someone has never tried Peruvian food before, Jarana may serve... again: may serve as an introduction. However, for anyone looking to experience what Peruvian cuisine is truly capable of, there are several outstanding Peruvian restaurants within just a few miles that offer more authentic flavors, a better overall dining experience, and often at a lower price. I genuinely wanted to love this restaurant because the concept and ambiance are impressive. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting or the reputation behind the name.

A modest restaurant, that seems to be run by family/close friends, which turned out to be some of the best peruvian food ive had in New Jersey so far. I really was craving ceviche and peruvian fried rice when I stumbled on this local store on Yelp. I did have difficulty placing an order at first, but once the man realized i speak some spanish and wanted to order food, he seemed to try to apologize and took my order. When i came in for pickup i was greeted by two workers who did indeed only speak Spanish. I think they forgot to cook my order because when i asked them about my pickup, the man was startled and asked me to wait an addition 10 minutes. After waiting, i received my order and paid (cash only). As a side note, they do have two small tables set outside for those who want to dine in. Despite the issues I had with getting my food, i have to say I am very impressed with the amount and quality of food. It really took me back to food in Peru and I was so happy to have found a good local shop. We asked for the spicy ceviche mixto and arroz chaufa mixto as well. The ceviche had a very good kick and was the best Ive had in NJ. Arroz chaufa was served in a large tray and was an unbelievable portion size. It looked and tasted very home-made and definitely could serve at least 2-3 people. For the price, taste, and quality of food, i dont think you could find better in NJ. It definitely adds fierce competition to larger peruvian restaurants. I know I had difficulty ordering but I do appreciate the hustle of a family serving its community. If you speak spanish or are willing to pick up google translate Id definitely recommend coming here. Will be back!
