My family and I ordered takeout from here since we were craving for Caribbean food. The reviews seem promising and the prices were decent. The food came pretty fast too. We ordered the oxtail meal, jerk chicken meal, jerk chicken taco and coco bread. -Oxtail with white rice and salad. The flavor was good but the portion was small. There was barely any meat and it was all bone. The sauce was delicious though! -Jerk chicken with rasta pasta and salad. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The rasta pasta was mediocre. I definitely had better elsewhere and it wasn't worth the extra $5 to substitute it. -Jerk chicken taco. This was good but the chicken was pretty dry. -Coco bread was good and soft. Good portion. Will definitely order from here again when I'm in the area.

Satisfies when you have a Jamaican craving. I needed to get my fix and while nothing like my fave spots in Brooklyn, the food was pretty good. Neither bad nor great service or taste or overall experience. I'm glad they're in business and they've come in handy when I was hungry for more of a home cooked fast meal, so 3 stars is fine! Takeout only. No delivery. Fair prices. They seem to get great business given they are properly located so they can tend to run out of certain menu items by late evening. Enjoy!

5 little tough pieces of Oxtail. Rice was ok. Lots of cabbage and one plantain.....this was $20 bucks! Smh

I have had Jerkin Chicken multiple times in the last few years but lately I'm not sure what has happened to the quality of food. Yesterday I had a taste for Oxtails and since my family don't eat them I just decided to pick some up. Prices have certainly gone up in the last two years and yes I can understand that but give the customer the same quality and don't skimp on the amount of food! I paid $20 for tough oxtails that had very little meat on the bone to begin with. 5 little pieces that looked as if they with cut smaller to make their amount seem more when they cooked them. Very disappointed. I have had the food truck near my home with no issues and maybe it was a bad day but no excuse for the amount of money. I simply won't take the chance again so sadly I won't eat from here going forward.

Our office ordered here for lunch today. Food is very flavorful and lots of it. They don't deliver unless you order from a delivery service. They also don't take credit cards over the phone.

Today was my first time here. No dine in at this time...but there are some seats toward the entrance for you to wait for your order. Atmosphere could use some work. Not the cutest spot nor are they trying to be I guess. But, I did really enjoy one wall in there (photos attached). Customer service was basic and could seem cold but they are really straight to the point. No warm greeting, no smiles, just straight business. But not rude! Lastly and most importantly, THE FOOD. The food was decent, so-so. I was starving so I enjoyed it but I've had much much better elsewhere. Would I strongly recommended it? No. But if I was in the area and starving again I would go for it and maybe try another dish.

Wanted to try a place I haven't tried before. Glad I did. This food is delicious pork tacos, jerkin chicken and shrimp so good. Will be ordering again but with extra jerk sauce.

We stopped in for lunch. I was craving oxtails and they delivered. Flavor was on point. Meat was tender! Jerk chicken was also juicy. Definitely a mom and pop spot, no frills just casual. If you want good food that's fast, Come here! Seems like most people take out but we dined in. Service was friendly. We really enjoyed ourselves.

AMAZING FOOD! Very authentic, tasty and the shop just has a great ambiance overall. The photos and art on the wall are beautiful. I had the goat roti, which I thoroughly enjoyed but was not fond of all the fat and the empty bones. My friend enjoyed their jerk chicken, cabbage and rice, and the one plantain which was insanely amazing. Definitely a Jersey City Staple.

De. Li. Cious. This place really surprised me. I had tried Jamaican food before from another place and wasn't super impressed. I ordered lunch with some coworkers and was recommended to order the jerk chicken so that's what I did. With rice and beans and oxtail Gravy on top and cabbage. Omg. It was so delicious! I will def order from here again and am eager to try the macaroni and cheese next time. A tad on the pricy side in my opinion but worth it!

Jerk Chicken Meal and Curry Goat Meal

I am glad I had lunch here. The food was so good. The curry goat was soft and flavorful and the chicken was cooked to perfection. 10/10 for me.

Our server was very on top of her stuff, making sure we had everything we needed and we were enjoying the food. She even let us practice our Spanish with her when ordering! My sister ordered the chicken tinga tacos and I ordered the beef birria. Both taco orders came with 5 tacos (because of the deal, it is typically 4), onions, cilantro, lime, and radish. Don't sleep on the radish, it my favorite part to add a nice crunch! Both meats were very flavorful and tender. They also gave us green and hot salsa on the side (green was my fave) and the birria tacos came with some delicious consommé for dipping. We also ordered guac and chips as an appetizer which was very fresh, and our favorite jarritos flavors to drink. It's decorated very nicely inside - no frills, a few tables and chairs inside for dining in and even a bar-style area with stools for those dining by themselves. They also offer takeout of course, but I honestly enjoyed sitting down because everything was very quick and they took great care of us. We walked, but there is only street parking so keep that in mind when traveling here.

El Rancho Taqueria fits the bill. Placed an order for takeout and trekked 10 mins (in timbs lol) to pickup the food and eat it in the comforts of home. This fit my nearly 6 year craving to the T. The melted queso and heat of the verde sauce was perfect. The rice and beans were plentiful, but not too much. Enchiladas were cooked well. Couldn't ask for more - I found my spot! For under $12, can't ask for more.

But…read moreit's because the food, the drinks and the vibes are so incredible that you kind of don't mind the wait. I've waited every time I've come but last weekend was by far the longest. We put our names down around 7:30, grabbed a few margaritas from the bar inside and waited outside on the sidewalk for about an hour and a half. A couple tips to make your wait bearable! -If you are staying close by, grab some margaritas at the bar and hang out. -If your wait time is expected to be over an hour, I promise it won't be less than that so you might as well walk around or grab drinks elsewhere and come back. After we finally got in, we were seated in the enclosed back patio space (it's still cold out, but this is usually a lovely spot for dinner during the warmer months). Get the guac! We got a medley of a bunch of different tacos but my favorite was the fish and the lengua. Loved everything and have declared every time that I leave that those are the best tacos in the area. Worth the wait (to an extent) but just go on a weeknight if ya can!

There are just a few things worth knowing before you go. First: the drinks. They are strong. Be-smart-and-stop-at-two strong. They taste great, but they sneak up on you fast. I ended up way sicker than expected, and I'm not a lightweight, so definitely pace yourself!! They will keep them coming long after you should have stopped. Second: they do not take reservations. Ever. Be prepared to wait, especially on weekends or evenings. It seems to be part of the Taqueria experience at this point, but it is still something to keep in mind. Now for my fellow vegans, here is the heads up. The complimentary chips are fine, but the salsa they bring out apparently has chicken broth in it. I had no idea the first time, since basic tomato salsa is usually the safest bet everywhere. They also use that same salsa on the tacos, so make sure you ask for it to be left off. As for vegan options, the nopalitos (cactus) tacos were pretty bland, and I really wish there were a few more solid choices without having to worry about hidden ingredients. All in all, I would not come here on my own for a meal, but I would definitely join a group if everyone wanted cheap tacos and very strong drinks. The atmosphere is fun, and it is a JC classic. It just is not the most vegan-friendly spot.

Looking for a quick dinner, I decided to come here on a whim. Because it was raining pretty decently, I opted to eat inside. There's a small size dining area in the back, though the ordering area and hallway leading there is a bit narrow. Anyhow, for those who are new, the concept is similar to Chipotle, except that they create everything for you behind the scenes. I basically opted for the burrito bowl except with the vegan chorizo (Tacorizo). Before adding the sauces, the Tacorizo had a good amount of heat to it. I simply added the two mildest sauces and it was just enough. Bowl tasted great and it was obviously very filling. Good spot for a quick bite.

That being said, the habanero sweet orange sauce and the elite corn they have from the sides menu... Best things I ate there! I don't even know what that orange mayo like sauce was on that corn but it made me sad knowing I only had two cute baby corns to eat, I just wanted to keep getting kernels in my teeth for that cob. And the habanero sauce, was downright slurpable. I didn't bother drizzling when you can just take a shot of it after every bite of either taco, burrito, whatever you get. Had to separate this paragraph for the tacos I got. I got 4 tacos. A pollo pastor, a shredded chicken, regular pollo, and regular carne asada. Now pollo and carne asada, nothing too special. Standard but with the way they sauce it and present it, I can say solid taco. The pollo pastor...as someone who can't eat pork, this was a blast to eat. They use mini chunk pineapple and put a good amount of condiments to balance it all out. Chicken not dry and super flavorful. Also enjoy the single tortilla over double. Less carbs. Now that shredded chicken. While not dry, I don't know where that bite was taking me. I just wasn't feeling it and I can't pinpoint why. I don't know if it's the extra stuff on top of it, or the fact that the corn was my fave but the side sauces didn't help. I'd def come back for the other 3 but not that shredded one. That limonada was sooooo good and refreshing! I thought I'd get horchata when I had the chance but because that limonada was hitting right, didn't even bother. And the fact it's like unlimited refills if you get a drink, totally worth it! Overall, I appreciate the patience of the manager and cashier. They were really nice and helpful. The interior was sick too. Repurpose lockers for chairs. Baseball stadium chairs. Definitely tight but just right. I was struggling finding spots for Mexican food, I have a pretty high standard for it, but I'll give this a solid/perfection score lol

The tacos were really tasty, and they had a huge amount of protein in them. Personally, I prefer my tacos with about 1/3 as much meat but I know many people see this as a high value taco.
