We have passed this place many times and finally decided to stop in and try it. We were glad we did. The place has limited parking but it's worth your time. The staff was very friendly and on top of things. Our waitress was warm and welcoming with just enough attentiveness without being overly intrusive. She was also accommodating to my beverage choice dilemma. Thank you! The food was all delicious. We split the Ruben with onion rings ($3 up charge). The Ruben might be one of the best we remember. The flavor was great, it was not greasy or soggy from too much toppings. The onion rings were also very crispy without being burnt. The coating was thin and fully covered the onion. We also shared the Ruben egg rolls and they were delicious as well. The only thing is they were two egg rolls cut into 6 pieces, which seemed a bit pricey. If you want a Ruben, you might just want to do the sandwich. The beverages were reasonably priced with a good variety to choose from. The inside was clean and they have plenty of seating. They have some unique seating arrangements and a small game area. They also appear to have an outdoor area, which was only used for the patrons who smoked as it was too cold to sit outside. We are definitely going to be going back. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have driven by here for years always wondered what it was like on day the planets aligned and wa la here we are.for starters it was kinda loud alot of people drinking pretty early in my book 6 ish but they were all having fun.service was very good no complaints there now the food I ordered breaded mushrooms for a appetizer they were your standard frozen ones but the waitress got them to the table while they were still too hot to eat (I love that) so they were great my wife got a bacon burger she said was good French fries were hot hot hot again excellent! My grandson got a kids burger and fries I thought it tasted a little off maybe because it only had ketchup on it.I got a corned beef sandwich and fries the corned beef was about 1" thick not a bunch of slices it was fantastic! read more

Normally I enjoy the food here. Tonight it was busy, I get it. But this was HORRIBLE service from Autumn. we were also told by not only the waitress but another RUDE employee named Melissa that they NEVER had green peppers for their pizza. I literally had green peppers and onions on my RAW pizza the week before. Then we get our appetizer WITH our food over an hour and 15 minutes after ordering. We ask for pizza sauce with our mozzarella sticks not ranch and Melissa tells us the pizzas are premade and she doesn't have that. We order it EVERY time we come here! And how are your pizzas premade when you can order whatever toppings you want usually? Add extra cheese? Light sauce? We don't have silverware or napkins. No one ever updated us on the status of our order the entire time. We never got the "change" portion of our change. To add to that, over a month ago I had "the last" of their raspberry vodka and they still don't have more in stock. Seriously the worst service I've ever had here. Not my first time at the Green Spot and most likely not my last. Took my dad and brother there for lunch after a seminar in town. For 2pm the place was about 1/2 full and smelled good walking in. Dad and brother both ordered burgers, they were fresh ground hand packed patties on bakery rolls. They both looked good and the guys enjoyed those and the onion rings and fries. I ordered a rueben and since this place is known for corned beef, it was really good. The staff was prompt and friendly. If you are in Mt. Alright, my friends, and I, and sometimes my wife, like to go to Mt. Pleasant to throw our money away at the casinos. We always stop at this place for some drinks. Cool place. Some old dude at the bar named Jim started gabbing about their sandwiches and how great they are. I was thinking, "yah right, it's just bar food." But I ordered a Reuben and I have to say it was the best Reuben I ever had. The corned beef was so tender. I look forward to trying other sandwiches there. Steak Hoagie Overal 4/5 It would be a perfect 5/5 if the bun had a little more composition to eat it as a sandwich. Bun just falls apart and is very fragile for the amount of meat packed into it. Would definitely recommend it, however use the fork lol read more

I've driven past the Green Spot innumerable times in my life...I was always intrigued by the Irish-and-proud exterior and the number of cars that always seem to be crowded into the parking lot...this past week my partner and I finally decided to satisfy our curiosity by checking the place out for lunch. I have to say -- the interior, while having a certain coziness to it (two fireplaces on either side) , says "drinking bar" more than "eating and drinking bar." And when we stopped in, around noon on a weekday, there were more people who seemed to be there taking the edge off than enjoying lunch. An interesting clientele, too -- two couples who looked to be professionals at lunch, four pool players, a table of folks who looked like shift workers, a few wayward college students or campus-town hangers-on, two ladies with bouffant hair and abundant makeup who looked like they just walked out of "Hairspray" and a couple elders who looked to be frequent fliers up at the bar. We ordered off the "menu," a laminated placemat-looking thing -- the shaved prime rib hoagie with sauteed onions and mushrooms, which we split between the two of us (10 ounces of beef makes for a big sammy), onion rings and deep-fried mushrooms. (The menu includes about 8 or so variations of hamburger, numerous sandwiches including two corned-beef customer favorites, chili, soup of the day, and a couple of steak options -- in other words, a basic bar menu.) Our waitress was friendly if a little harried, and told us we were being "so nice" (which made us wonder about the number of not-nice patrons!). Our sandwich was...good; very good bun, abundant meat, not too dry. The onion rings, which come with that particular sandwich, were beer-battered; nice flavor. The fried mushrooms were tasty but nothing special. Would we go back for lunch? Probably not. Do we think it would be a fun place to hang out on, say St. Patrick's Day or some other Irish-pride event? Oh, sure. read more

There is no better place in MtP than the Green Spot. I spent many a night here with my townie friends and we were treated very well here. All of my carnivorous friends love their steak hoagies. The bar food in general is good here and they have really well-priced drinks. I really miss being a regular at the Green Spot. Outstanding Reuben and Corned Beef sandwiches. Stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon on a visit to CMU. Excellent sandwiches, with very tender corned beef. I was told the corned beef was cooked on site. This was not simply deli cut corned beef. There were plenty of seating options, including an outdoor patio for use in warmer weather. The waitress was very nice and helpful. The draft beer was cheap - $3 for 24 oz standard. This for sure will be our go to place for a beer and good good while in Mt. Pleasant. read more

I went to the bar to run a keno ticket and the lady bartender which I have another name for was very very rude and did not want to run the ticket. She said she can't cash in tickets. So I had the right amount of cash and she told me it wouldn't work. After all the rudeness she put it in and it took literally 5 second to run. I will not go back and be treated like that ever again. This is a good dive bar with good food. Expect there to be collage kids hanging out and music playing. It has Pool tables and shuffle board and jukebox. If you're hungry try the Reuben sandwich or the Philly cheesesteak both are excellent and perfect after a few drinks. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my husband. The Green Spot is his favorite place in Mount Pleasant to get a bite to eat. He doesn't even need a menu, he goes straight for the steak hoagie. I'll admit it's really tasty, it's just too much meat for me. Some will ask if there is such a thing. Well their steak hoagie is overflowing with delicious meat, grilled onions and mushrooms, and cheese. It's so big he uses a fork and knife. I always choose something else on the menu and I'm always pleased. The servers are VERY friendly. Ignore all the chain restaurants and check out this local gem! read more

I have visited this bar many times. The green spot looks small on the outside but it is surprisingly roomy on the inside. The food here is really good. I like the steak hoagie and recommend it. But the club and the Reuben is a good choice as well. They have a decent amount of beers on tap. If your looking for a wide variety of craft beer then the green spot is not your bar. The parking is not that good and the outdoor patio area is not pretty to look at. The atmosphere is great though. Good people hang out here and the wait staff is always on their game. Not a lot of college students, more of an older crowd hang out. Also the green spot is the best place to go on St. Patty's Day. It is my favorite day and I have to make an appearance there, it is a blast. If your looking for a good night on the town and good food then hit up the Green Spot. read more

This place might turn you off when you first walk in the door. Mos the tables are plastic, and the menus are plastic. The place has an abundant amount of beers to chose from. I got some chili and fried califlower with the fam. Chili was average, and the califlower was good, but overbreaded. I ordered the fish n' chips, and the fish was very good. We were going to a concert at the casino and absolutely everywhere else had at least a 25 minute wait for a table. So we noticed this place and walked right in. Quite decent Irish menu, I got the fish and chips. While the fries were a bit limp it did not ruin the meal. The best part about this place was the friendly local atmosphere that extended their reach to us even though we were just in town for the evening. Are you kidding? The owner of the Green Spot allowed his employees to stand around while I waited and waited to play KENO in HIS restaurant... WHICH HE ACCEPTED as a viable income generator. Over time he disclosed to me that the state of Michigan reduced their payout to him (the proprietor of his own Green Spot restaurant)... which he AGREED TO allow the state lottery to do business. His machine was down. Therefore, AS A CUSTOMER, I purchased food in his restaurant EVERY TIME I went there. But, when their LOTTO machine was broken, I had to go to the bar and get a waitress to run my ticket. ON MANY occasions there was barely any business taking place. I am a reasonable person! I waited and waited and waited for a waitress, and in that waiting she stood "shooting the shit" with her fiends who frequented the Green Spot. I complained because while she "shot the shit" I lost $1,600. dollars when my numbers came up and she ignored me for at least 15 minutes. --- So, I wrote a bad review, just lik this one. The owner of the Green Spot didn't like my review. I went into his restaurant and he asked me if I was the one who wrote a bad review on this page. I told him, yes. His attorney contacted me and told me that the owner said I was belligerent and argumentative, which is why he kicked me out of his restaurant. NOT TRUE. I was VERY patient with his employees. However, THIS page removed my post about what took place! YELP.COM is a place to go to get accurate reviews of a business? Well, my original post (this post) was removed! I will post this until I am 80 years old. I am 50 now. I will repost this for the next 50 years. The guy who owns the Green Spot does not care about you IF you play the lotto/Keno on his in-house machine that HE accepted into his establishment. His words to me? I used to make 7% on the state lotto, but they reduced it to 4%. We won't wait on you if you are only playing KENO here. -- REALLY? Because NOT ONCE did I EVER not order dinner there when I played KENO from the Michigan Lotto machine that he allowed in his establishment. He did it as a money making opportunity.
