From the moment I saw the seafood case, everything looked ridiculously fresh, and that freshness carried straight onto the plate. The Tides is both a seafood market and restaurant, so you're surrounded by beautiful seafood and ingredients that actually look like they belong there. Then I noticed the MICHELIN plaque outside the building and thought, wait a minute... THIS place has Michelin recognition? Apparently, yes! The Tides has earned a place in the MICHELIN Guide, which suddenly made a whole lot of sense after tasting the food. That salmon was seriously some of the best I've ever had. Fresh, beautifully prepared and so clean tasting that it didn't need a bunch of heavy sauces or nonsense piled on top. It felt like one of those rare meals that is indulgent because it's delicious, but you also walk away thinking, I actually ate something good for me. The Tides was a genuine surprise, and now I'm wondering how many other little gems I've been driving right past without knowing they were there.

We made the mistake of trying to go on a Saturday evening. Shoot for off hours instead, as the wait was pretty long. We ordered a lot of what the Michelin blurb recommended: the dip trio (out of white fish), the crawfish arancini, the fried grouper po boy, and snapper. In the dip trio, we absolutely loved the fried green tomatoes and the pimento cheese (I don't like tajjn but it worked extremely well here). Neither of us was in love with the smoked fish, but if you're a big smoked fish person you might like it. We also loved the arancini and the romesco sauce they came with. The entrees we were honestly disappointed in. The grouper in the po boy tasted dry, and the snapper was nothing to write home about. It must be difficult for a restaurant to live up to the greatly heightened expectations of a Michelin designation. The location and staff were great. We didn't leave delighted but I would definitely come back to try more items.

You have to place your order at a register and they bring your food out to the table overlooking the water. There is patio seating and indoor seating. The tables are metal w a blue rubber. Not uncomfortable but not particularly comfortable either. The place is casual, low frills, and does not offer table service. However, the sunsets over the water are super pretty here and the string lighting is pretty. The LOADED LOBSTER BISQUE came with creamy bisque with a hint of sherry wine and extra loaded with lots of lobstah meat. 10/10 LEONS "FAMOUS" LOBSTAH ROLL served Hot comes with old bay and butter. If Served Cold, it comes with house mayo blend, fresh citrus and old bay. I opted for hot and it was very tasty. 10/10 LEONS PO BOY came with crispy shrimp with house slaw, sweet & spicy pickles, and our scratch made remoulade. 8/10 BANG SHRIMP TACOS came with crispy shrimp with siracha mayo, sweet thai chili, house slaw, and red pepper flakes on 3 flour tortillas and a side of potato chips. The tacos were tasty but chips side was disappointing. It Would have been better with real chips and salsa. 8/10 FISH N CHIPS came with crispy northern cod fried golden brown and served with tartar sauce and leons house-made remoulade. Very tasty fresh and juicy. 9/10 LEONS CRISPY SHRIMP BASKET came with a dozen jumbo shrimp served with cocktail and leons' house made. The shrimp was surprisingly juicy and tasty. The remolded sauce was tasty as well. 9/10 If you're looking for a casual seafood spot with a pretty sunset water view in South Tampa south of Bayshore, definitely try out Leon's Lobstah Shack!

Donald, our waiter for the evening, came over and introduced themselves and took drink orders. We enjoyed two rounds of those before dinner while enjoying views of Tampa Bay outside the restaurant windows. There is outdoor seating, but it was too hot and humid this evening to make that an enjoyable experience, but I highly recommend that during the months of October through April. For dinner, we ordered the special which was a crab stuffed. Flounder, the seared scallops, a wedge salad and some fried green tomatoes. The food is always good here and tonight was no different. Everyone enjoyed their selections with special attention to the crab stuff. Flounder. It was a nice large portion and cooked perfection. For dessert the party split one slice of Keylime pie has nobody is really big on desserts, but you can't leave Oyster Catchers without having a bite or two.
