I was in the mood for some fried blue crabs. They didn't disappoint. The crab was delicious, and the crabcake and coleslaw were on point. I was disappointed in the corn. I love a good corn on the cob. It was flavorless, but I did enjoy my crabs. The wait was about 20 minutes, a little painful for me, because I just left work and was starving...plus I was thinking about these all afternoon. I saw a few folks just picking up as they arrived and it seems they did call a head orders. I'll be back next week for my usual Friday visit, but I'll be calling ahead to avoid the wait. read more

Greasy, nasty--I went there at 630pm. I ordered the seafood platter(fish, shrimp, scallop, hush puppies). I received my food, it was dark outside so it looked fine. I asked for catfish, had to pay an extra $3 for it( only received 1pice of fish). Went home and the fish , shrimp, and conch fritters looked like they were all fried in old grease. The scallop were very tiny. No real taste, just greasy. Don't waste your money. I wasted $32!!! Disappointed! read more

2.5 Stars but I rounded up because I appreciate any small business restaurant being open right now. In my ongoing quest to feed my crab addiction, combined with my favorite crab place being closed until February '21, I decided to give this shack a try. Menu was easily found online and I pre-ordered a blue crab platter with fries and hushpuppies. The order was ready when I arrived, and the woman behind the order counter lifted the flap to show me my order. The blue crabs were small, but the order was correct. I wish they had given me the option to pay more for large crabs. Unfortunately, the styrofoam container everything was in didn't close all the way, so all the butter leaked out to the bottom of the to-go bag by the time I arrived home. I couldn't wait to crack into my meal. The hushpuppies were good, although I wish they had a sauce to dip them in, and the curly fries were okay, but the blue crabs were a real disappointment. The crab meat in all four crabs was very mushy and flavorless, and the meat in the claws was so dry it didn't even want to come out. Ugh! This is definitely one of the cheapest places around for crabs, but unfortunately the quality just wasn't there. If I end up going back, I'll definitely get something other than blue crabs. read more

As a self proclaimed seafood connoisseur, I had high hopes for this restaurant after reading the reviews on Yelp. Upon scanning the menu online, I placed my order over the phone for a shrimp dinner. I selected fries and hushpuppies for my side options. And I ordered snow crabs as well. I arrived at the location 30-35 minutes later and my food was hot and ready. The shrimp and fries were seasoned well. However, the crabs tasted as if the Old Bay seasoning was applied after the crabs were cooked. Most importantly, aside from a teaspoon of butter that likely dripped off of the crabs. There was no juice or sauce present for dipping purposes. Crabs just aren't the same without the buttery sauce. For these reasons, I must give the location 3 stars. read more

A crab shack that's quickly becoming my go-to place in Tampa for hot seafood. This is a walk up to the window and order plates to go kind of place, no seating inside or out. That's fine with me as the food is delicious. I have ordered boiled blue crabs in garlic sauce on both of my visits. They offer in small, medium, large extra large size crabs, either boiled or fried AND they clean them out! That's a huge plus for me, not having to dig out slimy insides to get to the tender meat. I have never had fried crabs, doesn't interest me. I've also tried their fried gizzards, very tasty as well. read more

I was searching for a fast food fish & chips spot & stumbled upon this place. They are very affordable & the wait was not long. People seem to know about this place as more & more people started to come while I was waiting for my order. The orders are taken at the window and you wait outside until it's ready. There is a counter but no chairs outside, assuming you can eat there while standing or you can take ur order and leave. There is a parking lot adjacent to the building where you can park. I ordered shrimp, scallops and fish. You can have your seafood steamed, fried or grilled. It was all good! I was so hungry that I forgot to take pictures of the food. Sorry guys next time! This crab shack has been there for long time. I like the seasoning that put on the crab. They serve live blue crab cook in the spot. Since cook it from live, the crab is fresh. I got 6 large crabs under $17. A lot of meat. Unfortunately one of the crab missing the crawl. If not because of that, I may have give them 5 stars for crab along. This shack really doesn't have a good place to sit and eat. Basically is a take out place. The day I have visited, they have 10 blue crab crawl for $3. They can cook crab by fried or steam garlic. The price varies due to the size of your choice. They serve other seafood which I may not able to said anything about it since I only like their blue crab. They have oyster, shrimp, clam strip, crab cake, devil crab, wings, snow crab, fish, gumbo, corn dog. Any how. Go for the blue crab. read more

Tried this place recently and it was great for the price ! Garlic snow crab was delicious and the grouper sandwich was super yummy. The crabs I got were so mushy. I was hesitant about getting crabs and didn't want the chain crab places and came all the way from WC to get a few trays and shrimp. I've been here before and never had mushy crabs. So disappointed- l will probably never go back because to me the seafood isn't fresh. Lord knows if the shrimp I order was fresh or not. Who drives 58 miles round trip for seafood? Someone who has wanted to try blue crab for months:) Today's food cost me slightly over $16, which is great-- a 4.5 star seafood shack! Five stars for the blue crab (yum), garlic shrimp (they were especially good!), service, & cost. The 8 shrimp were just $3.99! Four stars when the hush puppies & corn are figured in, & the fact that no "boil" is offered-- seafood w/ corn, potato, & sausage. (Unfortunately, my craving was not satisfied.) Vicky was at the window; she was friendly & helpful-- just a natural w/ customers. She even double bagged my food for the trip home. I met the non talkative owner-- an elderly Asian gentleman. He did; however, smile as he told me his restaurant has been open 23 YEARS! Before I forget, he currently wants to hire a cashier & a cook. Cash & credit are accepted. This business is on unkept East Sligh Ave, an area it would be wise to avoid at night. However, the three area residents who singularity walked past me on their way to the bus stop were each very friendly. This is a grab (crab) & go business (lol), which keeps prices down. My wait was ten minutes at most. I did see chicken gizzards, mullet, catfish, trout, grouper, & many additional seafood offerings on the menu. You can order in bulk, by dinner entree, & by side. Fried, steamed, & boiled are also choices. (The offerings, flavor, & prices here are much better than at nearby Krispy Krab 2.) Will not hesitate to return when I'm craving crab or garlic shrimp, but I'll definitely skip the dinners & buy in bulk. read more

If you're looking for a quick and affordable to-go seafood restaurant that's also good, this is your place. There's no seating on the inside and I usually call my order in before I arrive. It takes about 15 mins to prepare. The owner is very nice but his workers aren't professional when you call. Just ignore them, order your food, pick it up and go. It's not in the best area so go when it's light outside. Even with all of that, this is my go to seafood spot when I want to eat my seafood at home and don't have to pay a lot. It's very affordable. I got a grouper sandwich and the lady said all their fish were fried, no grilled option. The fish fillet was big . The breaded coating was seasoned and crunchy. Two pieces of bread to make it a sandwich. It tasted decent. The medium size shrimps were soaked in butter garlic sauce. I liked the sauce. I waited about 15 minutes to pick up my older. Ya know...its a seafood shack on the side of the road. No seating, cheap prices and a great selection. You have to know what to expect when visiting an establishment like this. Know what you want, order, get out of the way so someone else can order, then wait for your number to be called and go enjoy. My husband and I took our food to a nearby park and enjoyed a pleorotha of seafood for around $30. Love this place! I am totally hooked and must take out weekly or I have withdrawal symptoms! My last review suggested that my crabs didn't taste as fresh as usual, but in retrospect perhaps I had an off night, because they were beyond awesome this time! I've always had my blue claw crabs boiled in old bay seasoning, but here they are bathed in a butter garlic mixture. Best I've ever had. Plus they do most of the work, serving them already with the outside shell removed and cleaned. Call in advance and ready in 10 minutes. I also like that the lady at the window always checks it with you before leaving. Tonight my son had the egg rolls(!) which were large , crispy and authentic. He loved them! I paid for large fried Crabs and got very small crabs. The taste was good. I got one crab that had no substance in it. I guess that was a blooper. $16.00 for a 1/2 dozen fried. If they were large I would have been full, but I wasn't. The body was smaller than the palm of my hand. The cashier was very nice and polite. My food was read when I got there which was good . I ordered fried blue crab and shrimp enchilada. I've never shrimp enchilada so I've wanted to try it. To me it was very bland no flavor at all , the shrimp seem like they were just dropped on top. They had no seasoning to them. Well at least the blue crab weren't bad. I'm upset I hadn't tried this place before today! I'm a big fan of garlic blue crabs ever since I was introduced to them back in my college years in Daytona Beach, FL. This is the closest I've gotten to those crabs in Tampa. I decided to go with the Garlic Blue Crab dinner, large, that came with four crabs and two sides, which I decided to go with the corn on the cob and the hush puppies. The garlic shrimp looked good on other Yelpers reviews, so I also ordered a side of them. The crabs were cooked to perfection with an amazing garlic butter taste in each bite! I LOVED the hash puppies and will get them again. The corn on the cob was corn on the cob ...the shrimp was YUMMY!!! Service was awesome; went around 5pm on Friday, my food was ready in ten minutes. This is strictly a take out restaurant where you walk up and order your food. There are two stools in front of the take out window, but still no seating to where you eat your food there. I will return! This place is definitely worth giving a try...Enjoy! read more

4 stars for value. 3 for my over steamed crab batch which turned the insides into mush. A hidden jem in a somewhat bad area, TN crab shack sells affordable and delicious crabs to-go. I got blue crabs and my boyfriend got the crab legs. My blue crabs were over steamed turning the insides into mush which I hate. It's too bad bc it had so much potential! Boyfriend's snow crab was much better though. He said it was some of the best crab he's ever had! I would be back but would opt for the snow crab legs given the mushy crab meat of the blue crabs. I suspect this over steaming happens every now and then. Hopefully it will be better next time. For the price, I'd give it a few more chances! TIP: Call in and order ahead. The area is not the best so I personally wouldn't feel all that comfortable waiting. If you pick up, you get to skip to the head of the line. read more

I'm only rating this a 3 because my card information was stolen. Ive been coming for months. Just moved to Tampa about 10months ago probably been coming here for at least 5. I usually deal with this nice hispanic woman who's always smiley and nice. (She didn't take care of me this night) I accidentally left my card there one night and by the time I realized they were closed so I locked the card and came in two days after.( they were closed on Sunday/Monday) I kept getting notifications that someone was trying to use my card at gas stations etc. I went back when they were opened and my credit card couldn't be "found" yet I know I left it there and I know someone tried to use it. All in all this experience is why this place gets 3 starts from me. My go to is the grouper dinner. It's crispy and grilled at the same time. Food was good, service was okay. Just a heads up the tips go to the owner not the employees so I'd recommend you don't tip or tipped them sneakily. read more

Stopped here while in Tampa and I wish I could take them back to Atlanta. The snow crabs where so very delicious I didn't want to share. I was a bit sad since they were out of blue crabs. Very impressed with this place! Me and my friend were craving crab legs one day so we found something close by and decided to give it a shot. We stayed there a couple hours and actually tried multiple things on the menu until we found our favorite. Off the bat, let me just say that stick to getting anything crab related as FRIED. They dont really have crab crackers handy so the fried ones are easy to break open and devour. We had the Snow Crab Legs and they were cooked perfectly, friend, and then drizzled with Garlic & Butter ~ with an extra side of Garlic & Butter to dip into = A++++ on that item! We got the fried and boiled shrimp with Garlic & Butter and I would say go with the boiled on this and add some hot sauce to the Garlic & Butter dip and your all set ~ the shrimp went perfect as an appetizer for us. As this location is very small, most people just pick up their orders but we sat on the small bench in front which as 2 stools; if the place increased the chairs or made a better outdoor sitting area and marketed better than I think this place would be a hit to get some authentic, home cooked crab in SH area. One thing I want to mention was the staff at the counter - THEY WERE AMAZING and A+ on customer service to them. Im assuming the owner was the asian guy in the background who did not seem very friendly and had an issue giving us extra napkins so he probably just needs to fix his attitude and or let the appropriate staff thats good at customer service handle the customers.
