I love their lobster roll and the fish tacos, both are always solid and hit the spot every time. Perfect spot if you want something low key with great views and good food. Leon's Lobstah Shack is located off Interbay next to Ballast Point Park Kids playground with pretty views of the water and the fishing pier, south of Bayshore in South Tampa. You have to place your order at a register and they bring your food out to the table overlooking the water. There is patio seating and indoor seating. The tables are metal w a blue rubber. Not uncomfortable but not particularly comfortable either. The place is casual, low frills, and does not offer table service. However, the sunsets over the water are super pretty here and the string lighting is pretty. The LOADED LOBSTER BISQUE came with creamy bisque with a hint of sherry wine and extra loaded with lots of lobstah meat. 10/10 LEONS "FAMOUS" LOBSTAH ROLL served Hot comes with old bay and butter. If Served Cold, it comes with house mayo blend, fresh citrus and old bay. I opted for hot and it was very tasty. 10/10 LEONS PO BOY came with crispy shrimp with house slaw, sweet & spicy pickles, and our scratch made remoulade. 8/10 BANG SHRIMP TACOS came with crispy shrimp with siracha mayo, sweet thai chili, house slaw, and red pepper flakes on 3 flour tortillas and a side of potato chips. The tacos were tasty but chips side was disappointing. I have been eyeing this place a while and finally got a chance to head over here while my family is in town. The restaurant is in ballest point park overlooking the bay. It serves seafood and ice cream. I got their shrimp po boy sandwich and it was very good! Not only do you get a lot of shrimp but the seasoning and flavor is there. You can sit outside or inside and enjoy the weather. It's a great place to come if you have kids to bring them to the park and enjoy food while you watch them. After a run on Bayshore I saw this little spot that I had no idea existed! I felt a treat was deserved after my run so in I went. Leon's is a cute little place right by the pier on the water. Since it's called Leon's Lobstah Shack I opted for the hot lobster roll. I ordered at the counter and awaited my meal. It took a while to arrive but it was piping hot and delicious. The roll is a bit small but the price was good for lobster and it hit the spot. Service was friendly. Giving 4 stars just because my food took a while. Otherwise I definitely recommend and want to go back to try more food. read more

First impression... I'm impressed. I had no idea there was a little snack shop at the edge of the pier by the playground. I took my kiddo to the playground and lo and behold... Food. I was drawn to the shrimp basket. Who isn't drawn to fried shrimp? It was delicious. Not horribly priced. Basket was $16... Some weird taxes must've been added because my total was about $20. This place came highly recommended. Looks like they've had some good reviews. To our disappointment, our food came out and looked nothing like the pictures. The clam chowder we ordered came out cold and the 27 dollar lobster rolls were on a small roll with small chunks of lobster. Not worth the money. I know times are tough and restaurants are dealing with inflation but at least make an attempt to give customers what you are advertising. read more

I really wanted to love this place because there aren't many Lobster Roll options in Tampa but this didn't overly stick out! The Lobster Rolls are expensive and I don't think they were worth the price. This spot is laid back and cute though, and near the water so if you're interested in aesthetic too, this can work! read more

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We had the hot lobster roll which was so flavorful and buttery! My only complaint is I wish it was bigger!! We also got the shrimp po boy which my boyfriend absolutely loved (and he's very picky on his po boys). We got chips on the side which were just Miss Vickie's and onion rings. The onion rings were mid and I probably won't get them again. They were too battery for my liking and not enough onion. Slightly too salty as well. However, we will definitely be back for the lobster and shrimp - and the special was the grouper which we want to try! Leon's Lobstah Shack is a nice little spot in Ballast Point Park to grab a bite to eat. We decided to come by for lunch and we were greeted kindly upon entering. We ordered the hot lobster roll, smash burger, fries and a bag of chips for a side. All the food was pretty good. The lobster roll wasn't anything mind blowing and maybe we had high hopes since lobster is one of the main focus points of this spot. Our first experience here did not disappoint! Everything was absolutely delicious and that means a lot coming from someone who grew up eating New England food. They give you the option to have your lobster roll hot with butter or cold with mayo - my fiancé and I both went with hot and buttery and they were delicious! The lobster bisque was meaty and savory, with generous chunks of lobster meat. The lobster roll (cold) was buttery, not overly dressed, and stuffed to the brim of the brioche bun. I have reviewed this restaurant several times, and I think in one of my posts I wrote how delicious the lobster bisque was, but it didn't have as much lobster meat as I was expecting. Well, I learned that you can order the lobster bisque 'loaded' - they top your bisque with a ton of lobster meat, so that is what I tried today!! It did not disappoint, it was very tasty and delicious. We sat inside, which is nice and bright but there are outdoor seats as well. Arrived at 7:15pm, could see the tables, floors, etc., needed cleaning up but since it was our first time we proceeded anyway. We got to the ordering window at about 7:20pm and were told they were not taking anymore orders for "a few minutes" so they could catch up. We went back to the window at 7:30pm and were still told they needed more time. We debated leaving but felt we were already there so decided to wait a little longer. Went to the window at about 7:43pm and was told that since it was inside 20 minutes til closing, all orders would have to be "to-go". We questioned it by asking "Even though we've been here just over 20 minutes waiting to order?", the answer was "yes, sorry". Needless to say, we left and went elsewhere. Hey, it's always great to find a casual eatery that serves fresh lobster rolls. What can I say? It's located at the foot of the pier in Ballast Point Park. It's where Taste of Boston used to be. A place that I never had the pleasure of visiting. All I can say is that Leon's gives you a good amount of lobster for the price. Lobster is expensive in Florida. What I liked the most is that it wasn't overly seasoned with Old Bay. I could actually taste the lobster with the melted butter. I'm not going to compare it to the rolls I've had in New England. There really isn't a way to compare it. If you love fresh lobster, then you'll love this roll. It comes with a bag of kettle chips, but you can get fries for an extra $1. They were crispy, golden, and seasoned very well. It was well worth the upgrade. I'd totally order the same thing again. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I chose to enjoy my lunch on the covered outdoor patio. It was a hot and humid day, but I couldn't resist the view. There are also tables with big umbrellas that are closer to the pier. There's always a place to sit and eat nearby if you prefer to take it to-go. Even if it's on the pier. Service is great! I didn't even get to pick up after myself. The nice lady who took my order and delivered it to me just happened to be there to pick it up when I was done. I'm looking forward to trying the lobster bisque next time. The loaded one looks great in pictures. Although, the whole belly clams basket looks very tempting. It shows whole belly ones on the website menu, but I think the restaurant menu had clam strips. What a perfect spot to take your kids to the park and or listen to the voice of the gentleman singing by the pier. I think the pier is still under construction from the hurricane damage. I'm happy with this replacement of the Taste of Boston. It's nice to have a casual seafood place on the water that has a bunch of non-fried options! Parking at Ballast Point is always a problem. Leon's has a few dedicated spots right in front, but only a few, so cross your fingers that you are lucky enough to get one. You order at the counter, then they bring the food out to you. We ordered: the lobster bisque, a kid's crunchy shrimp meal, a shrimp basket, and a hot lobster roll. They have a refrigerator that has cold Coke products (no Coke Zero, though) and other non-alcoholic drinks. The food came out pretty quickly considering everything was made to order. Everything was very tasty, and I was impressed that the lobster claw was still very evident. The lobster roll was smaller than expected, but as we're in Tampa and not in Maine, I guess it's understandable given the fairly reasonable price. The roll was buttery and delicious, and the lobster meat was very sweet and mild. The french fries were perfectly crispy although a little salty. The fried shrimp was huge and delicious. The bisque was very creamy, but my son wished he could have gotten crackers with it and felt that it needed more seasoning. We got ice cream on our way out. A great little place right on the water with a nice park for kids to play. My wife and I stopped in for lunch and we both enjoyed it very much. She had the shrimp basket with fries. I had the bang shrimp tacos and a order of union rings. Her shrimp and fries were delicious and seasoned very well. My tacos were also delicious and seasoned very well. A cute little gem in Ballast Point Park. I got the hot lobster roll and upgraded to the fries. Both were very good! My friend got the bang bang shrimp which was phenomenal. I also got a root beer float. They had a lot of ice cream flavors they looked yummy and I am hoping to try next time I come!
