Wonderful High Tea at Clancy's Tea Cosy in Whiterock. The staff were lovely and so helpful. A bit run off their feet as it was a full house and only two of them. Three of us went for my daughter's birthday on her request. They have an extensive tea menu, which they sell lots of loose teas. Daughter had Scottish Toffee Caramel which she loved. I choose Lavender Earl Grey, almost went for the Cream Earl Grey and Auntie went for Cranberry and Apple. Everyone was happy with their choice. The food was excellent and they gave us to go boxes as we couldn't eat it all. I forgot to ask if anything had mayonnaise as Auntie doesn't do mayo and they offered to make a few extras without mayo but we thanked them and said we were ok. She had two that apparently had mayo and couldn't tell. As the server said other than the egg salad they would only have a smattering of mayo, lol Would definitely recommend, MUST make a reservation but I look forward to going back for tea, soup, sandwich and a scone with the clotted cream and strawberry jam that was to die for! We stopped by for afternoon tea ($35) and it was reasonably priced for the variety of sandwiches, scones, and sweets. There was a large selection of tea to choose from. I wish there was a description for each individual tea. Bone China tea cups were dropped off. We were allowed to choose which cup design if we wanted to. The afternoon tea set was arrived after a short wait. Everything tasted so good. My favourite were the fluffy scones and sandwiches. Service was good. There was one person attending to the tables. Teapots were refilled once with hot water upon our request. I ended up packing the sweets home because I was too full after eating the sandwiches and scones. Overall, I think this a is a great afternoon tea option if you are in the area. read more

I've always had an affinity for High Tea/Afternoon Tea, so when I came across this place (thanks Yelp!), I knew I had to try it as part of my birthday celebrations. My boyfriend and I walked in right around 2 p.m. and luckily, we were right in between the lunch rush and the afternoon tea rush. The lady happened to mention there had been one birthday party for 5 that cancelled without notice, and she jokingly said "you guys aren't here to celebrate a birthday, are you?" When she heard we were celebrating my birthday, I got to sit at the swanky corner booth/table with a "Happy Birthday" arrangement. Talk about good timing! From start to finish, everything was a wow factor for me. There was an extensive list of teas available for drinking or pairing with regular meals, or with afternoon tea. The lady graciously offered to let us smell the tea leaves in the back room to help us decide. Boyfriend settled on Chocolate Mint, and I chose the Star of India. The afternoon tea rack was brought out with a little candle on top, and everyone sang Happy Birthday to me. The scones and sandwiches were delicious with freshly made jam, and I thought it was just as delicious as the Afternoon Teas offered at the big hotels. The place itself has a small, quaint, "mom and pop" atmosphere to it. I appreciated the tables were spaciously arranged and it looked like the place had undergone minor renovations to make everything appear lighter and brighter. What I loved most was the familiarity. There was a steady trickle of customers, many of whom seemed to be regulars and their preferred orders were already known by heart. I also appreciated the attention to detail: a couple came in for a late lunch, with one party member having a number of food allergies. The staff spent a long time going back and forth from the kitchen to ensure they had enough ingredients to modify the orders with those allergies in mind, and I really want to say kudos to that level of care. I'm so glad I tried this place when I did. I know I will be back to this establishment, although I am terribly torn: do I go back for another round of Afternoon Tea, or do I try their lunch offerings next? read more

A friend recently treated me to High Tea at this cozy place & the experience was delightful. The service was excellent, the food plentiful & delicious & the choice of teas lengthy! it is quite an unassuming storefront but as soon as you step in, the decor is beautiful. it's a small space with 4-5 tables comfortably seating 4 people each. there's a table in front as well but it's too cold for that currently! it was not loud and i could have a conversation with my group easily. my friend made a reservation for 3 people at 12pm. when we arrived there was a cute chalk sign on a table with my friend's name! service was polite, friendly, and i felt well taken care of. overall we had a lovely experience. they have an amazing selection of teas and each individual tea cup is unique and beautiful. we all ordered the afternoon tea and it was beautiful. each item was better than the last! i found it to be filling and happily walked away with treats for later. i will absolutely be returning, it was beautiful and a wonderful experience. read more

A delightful tea house, with charming interior decorating. It is almost as if you step into a little old British house. Very quaint! The teas are good, and some are very unique. I recommend the Rose Tea, for it is like you are drinking roses. Yes, truly, and it is rather tasty! The servers are very friendly, and very helpful. I've never been there when it has been busy, so there is always good seating available. What I am not fond of is their deserts. All store bought, and not all that good. I think the only good desert I had was the strawberry shortcake, but that's only available during strawberry season. Go for the atmosphere and the great tea! read more

Was so happy to stumble upon this little gem! It was a snowy day outside and I spent the afternoon staying warm inside the shop with friends. We enjoyed high tea and were presented with a 3 tier lunch. Lovely mini croissant sandwiches, cheese and seasonal jelly, as well as the classic cucumber sandwich! All fresh! The second tier consisted of home made (fluffy!) scones with clotted cream and jam. Of course the last tier and most favourite: something sweet. Peppermint brownies, velvety lemon tart, and cranberry white chocolate bars. I'm definitely a foodie and so the tea wasn't of high interest to me at first but the store owner provided a massive tea menu and was knowledgeable with her recommendation. I ended up buying some creamy Earl Grey to take home. The only thing I would have loved was WiFi...but I was politely corrected and told that it was free. My phone was just acting up. I'm visiting from California and I've been to high tea twice before but never have I experienced such amazing customer service and food as I did at Clancy's. We did the afternoon tea and we were a group of 5. Rose was our server and all I can say was that she was a doll. She was patient and informative and her recommendations were perfect. The tea cosy is very clean and deserts and scones are baked in house, and delicious. My wife and I stop in on occasion for a cup of tea to go. If you're used to going to the Little White Tea House or L'Opera or hell the group-on type Fairmont "high tea" do not go here. Horrible food. The server came up and told us to ignore a yelp posting from 2012 as it stated the food was not homemade and she reassured us it was all homemade...turns out the review was right. When a menu reads smoked salmon - you do not expect canned salmon. The scones were not warm and tasted like a quick DYI 10 min recipe. The cucumber sandwiches were drenched in mayo. The soup - had a name I could not pronounce and it turned out to be indian chicken curry. $50 for 2 people...old dusty tea pots...bland food. The service was great - food not so much. We go here at least once to twice a month. It appears to have changed hands and the service is therefore in its infancy. That being said we love it here. I just wish they wouldn't give those god awful tarts with yucky gelatinous filling BUT that's one thing out of 6 amazing items. Well priced and adorable :). I have been going here for about three years now and each time I swear is my last. Not once have I had a positive experience with the costumer service. I feel that I am not treated in a respectful manor. The only reason I return is because it is the only high tea location within close proximity to me. I would not recommend this unless you are willing to put up with attitude for little things such as asking for milk rather than cream with your tea. read more
