The line for the bathroom is from Athens to Timbuktu then back. The vodka water with lime juice, taste like a musty cigarette with marijuana, and a hint of lime. The reason there's no line at this bar is because it's shit, and no one wants to go here. And if you come here, you're not even gonna have fun, so might as well wait in the line another bar. Came here about a year ago. Horrible service but burgers were great. We thought we'd give it another try. Tried again on 2/6/20. Menu has changed and it's pretty basic. We had the standard, the buffalo chicken mac n cheese, and the chicken nugget meal. The buffalo mac n cheese was piled high with fried onions. Wasn't feeling it. The service was ok. I think this may be more of a pre-game bar suited for 20-22 year olds more than it's a restaurant. read more

Great burgers great spicy chicken sandwich. Pimento goat cheese was too great. Guacamole was also great I wish we could get more. The service was excellent and the girls were super cute. Lived in Athens for 4 years but for some reason did not eat here until after graduating?? Holy cow, the buffalo chicken dip appetizer!? I wish they made it in a bigger portion because I could seriously just eat it for my meal. But trust me, my meal did not disappoint either. For the life of me I can not remember the exact menu name of what I had, but it was Mac n cheese, queso, bacon and jalapeños. All ingredients you just can not go wrong with. Service was also great. It was not super busy when we went so our server was very attentive but I have the feeling she would be regardless! read more

This is the best burger in town. The breakfast burger for brunch was cooked perfectly. The egg was not too runny, but not over cooked. The fries were crispy and the sea salt was well balanced. The restaurant has modern, clean atmosphere. Our service was very helpful and respectful. read more

I was so excited to try out Clarke's and it left a lot to be desired, I'm afraid. The food was pretty good, but nothing terribly special. I will say the Pickle Fries were awesome though. The service is seriously lacking though. The delivery of our food was crazy slow and the server, while sweet, was not attentive. I had to ask for refills and even then she only refilled half of our 4 person party's empty glasses. When she finally came back around to ask if our food was ok - it was gone, drinks empty, and we just asked for our check so we could get out of there. read more

Great place for a quick bite to eat. We were seated immediately and received our food in less than 15 minutes. The food was good but nothing spectacular. Overpriced food w small servings that barely fill you and drinks are so so small and expensive. Every time I leave here I'm disappointed.

I don't know what kind of standard Clarke was shooting for but it is a crappy one. Mediocre food, slow service, and they messed up our order. With a group of 7 they messed up 4 orders and one of the people with us wasn't even eating. They also forgot to bring out our appetizer and once our food was out offered to bring it, but they weren't going to comp it. Let's just say we won't be returning anytime soon. read more

We used to love Branded Butcher. That this is not. It's totally catering to the wealthier undergrads; my husband and I felt out of place there. The food is ok-I liked the Scotch eggs, but that's about all that was memorable. Cocktails are nice. read more

We had a group of 8 for dinner, and we were unfamiliar with the area. We ended up at Clarke's purely by accident, and we were very glad we did. They had a nice table for us, the atmosphere was great, and the server was very friendly. The food came out fairly quickly, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the bacon and blue cheese burger and it was great. Sorry me one else had the ABLT and also enjoyed it. The fries were very tasty, not greasy. read more

I really wish I could give a good review, but I just can't. $31 for a burger and a salad is pretty outrageous especially when the food is sub-par. I ordered the caesar salad which was $12 with chicken. The lettuce was grilled, the dressing in no way resembled caesar dressing. I am not sure why the lettuce was grilled, I have heard of it but I also heard thats a big no no. The only thing good about this restaurant is the staff, very friendly and courteous. Visited with a very large group of people for lunch, and we had a good experience. All of our food was very tasty, and we got items ranging from burgers to salads to the chicken and waffle specials. We were pretty impressed with the waffles, they were light and airy. Food was plated nicely, service was friendly even though we had a lot of people. We would go back. read more

I don't know if this is because we made the mistake of going on a Saturday night or what, but no thanks. We were seated quickly, surprisingly, considering we had 5 people. But it took forever to put in drink and food orders and the food took a long time to be served. Even when three of us were served, the other two had to wait much longer for their food. It's hard to know where to start. The restaurant says it specializes in craft beer and burgers but last time I went there they were out of glasses and couldn't pour any of the beer on draught as a result. And the place wasn't even busy, maybe 4 friend groups for a total of 20 people inside. The burgers are okay, nothing special, probably overpriced for what you get. I went to Clarke's Standard because I wanted to see what it was like since I hadn't been there since it opened/since it was The Branded Butcher. While the burger (I got the Blue Burger) was good, everything else was disappointing. I got the mac n cheese and it was probably the worst mac n cheese I've ever ordered. It was lukewarm, gummy, and hard. At first, I didn't want to complain, but ended up saying something and they were nice enough to get me fries instead; so points for that. I ordered the PK Paloma and it was underwhelming. Overall, the quality of the food and drinks was not worth the price at all. My boyfriend and friends had gone there previously and were also disappointed. So based on these experiences, thoughit wasn't completely awful, I won't be returning. read more

Overpriced. Server was very nice but the food runner had an unnecessary attitude and ruined a lot of the experience. Service is very slow. I got the buffalo chicken "flatbread" which was the size of my hand. Do not waste your money. Mac n cheese was good. They do have a good peach mule. I have given this place 3 tried and each time it gets worse. The first time I was disappointed by how it was so basic and ordinary after The Branded Butcher was so amazing. But the food and service we're okay, the scotch egg was just fine but in comparison to the scotch egg from branded Butcher, it was not anywhere close in texture, appearance, or taste. I has a waffle that was good. The second time I noted how dirty the bathrooms we're and they smelled like urine was everywhere, the bartender didn't know how to make an old fashioned and he didn't know anything about the beers. The third time the food was gross. We had a burger that had dry, flavorless meat, the fries were hard and bland, the Mac and cheese was dry and rubbery, the pickle fries were completely separated into a pile of batter and a pile of pickle shavings that were extremely salty. read more

Great looking restaurant and great location. They've got a great bar, BUT the kitchen and the service is seriously lacking. My family and I waited well over an hour for a few burgers, and everyone at the surrounding tables who had been there before us waited equally as long if not longer for their food. Wanted to give them some slack because it was a game day, but it was an away game and it wasn't even that busy! It was so frustrating watching the staff stand around as we anxiously waited for our food. From what i'm hearing apparently this is a common problem. I don't know if they plan to survive solely on alcohol sales, but DO NOT come here if you are in any sort of time crunch. We spent a good half hour debating just walking out because it got so ridiculous. I have been here a lot over the years and absolutely love the drinks, food is good, everyone who works here is accommodating and very nice. However, they change their menu often and just stopped serving the quinoa salad and build your own burger and it's super sad, those were the two best things on the menu! A group of 10 of us went to this restaurant on a Saturday evening. After over an hour of waiting for food, they brought out HALF of our table's burgers. They then proceeded to bring out all the food for a large party that had arrived well after we did. After another 20-30 minutes of waiting, they FINALLY arrived with the rest of our food. Skip it! We had a party of 4 come to try as we use to love the branded butcher. First, the service was horrible even though waitress was friendly. We had to keep asking for the same things over and over. Then majority of our food cane out incorrect. Unsure if she put it in wrong or they cooked it wrong but 3 of 4 meals weren't right. We ate them anyway because it took so long between apps and food. The goat cheese is the best thing they have by far, I'll give them that. But we had to keep flagging her down for beers and then by the time she brought them they weren't cold (even though it wasn't busy and we watched her walk aimlessly by them several times). My meal was terrible, beyond it wasn't right... i got the friend chicken and there was definitely something off about it. You know when chicken is just off or bad. Even though I spit out the only bite I took she never noticed I didn't eat any of my meal. Then never even offered more drinks or dessert just gave us checks. Bad food and service means I won't be returning! read more

I used to really like Clarke's, but I have had so many horrible experiences there that I definitely will not be going back. On multiple occasions, they have run out of food! The first instance was a Sunday after a football game, so I tried to cut them some slack when they handed us a handwritten piece of paper listing the very few options they had left, like "fries (8 servings)" and "burger (12 servings)." We decided to stay and managed with what they had, but by the time we left, they had to close down because they had absolutely no food left. I went a few more times after with nothing that bad happening, but service is generally very slow. I went again this weekend and we ordered an appetizer. About 10 minutes later, the waiter comes back to tell us they're out of that appetizer, so we ordered another-- they were out of that too. So we ordered a third appetizer and the waiter says they have that. About 30 minutes later, he comes back to tell us they're out of fries, which all 3 of us had ordered, and they would be unable to make our appetizer as well. Then another 20 minutes or so passed and the waiter came back to double check what we had all ordered.... Over an hour after our initial order! Finally we got our food, which was fine, but then couldn't get the waiter to give us our check. Overall, pretty consistently slow and horrible service for food that just isn't worth it. read more
