They repaired our rain damaged parquet wood floor. Fortunately, it was 'just' removing any loose pieces (less than 10). Cleaning the floor and tile pieces of old glues and re-glueing the tiles back. It takes time, tools, materials and talent. Good results. read more

Deciding to "rescue" hardwood floors is not a decision to make lightly. Refinishing the floors in the entire house means essentially moving out of the house, but the end result is certainly worth that effort. Our 1955 house fortunately has original white oak hardwood floors, but they were buried under carpet, likely for most of those decades and endured kids, pets, and "life". Clark's Hardwood Floors was recommended to us by multiple friends, so we made a call. Joe came, surveyed the rooms, and provided a quote for the approximately 1,000 sq ft of floor to be refinished. When the work started, Matt, Joe's son came, removed the old carpet and tack strips, and examined the floor for any damage. We knew there would be some. Jaime and José, the two skilled refinishers, did the bulk of the sanding, replacing damaged floor with new hardwood, and installing new baseboards. The process is multi-step: preparing the floor, replacing wood where needed, sanding, reseating and filling nails, staining the sanded wood, and applying three finish coats. Jaime is a master colorist, blending stains to just the right shade to bring out the wood. The result is amazing. Clark's is a family business, locally owned, with a reputation that appears well-earned. Their employees are valued and it shows in their work. Jaime has worked for Clark's for more than 12 years as of this writing, trained by his brother who just retired from Clark's. If you are considering refinishing existing hardwood floors or installing new, Clark's is a reliable and excellent choice. We had some water damage to the floor in one area of our home. The other companies I contacted to repair the floor said they would need to do the entire ground floor, since we have continuous flooring. That would have required that we move out for several weeks. I was so happy to find Clark's, who told me they thought they could just do the damaged portion and adjacent areas. They did a wonderful job and were very easy to work with. Not the best experience for me. I needed a small area redone when I upgraded from a floor heater to central heat. This was a small job. I used them before for finishing and sealing the floor in another portion of the home. The appointment, estimating processes were OK, my issue was the craftsmanship. This should have been a one-man job. The 3x3 foot square hole needed to have a piece of subfloor installed and then the hickory hardwood needed to be matched to tie-in with the rest of the floor. I challenged the installer with the use of pine as the subfloor piece because of it's softness compared to the hickory hardwood and the toenailing technique for locking in the piece of subfloor to the floow joists. I thought they should have used hardwood for the subfloor piece & should have framed it in from below instead of "hanging" it. He assured me --- no problem. They laid in the hickory hardwood, finished and sealed the top surface. It looked good. Some time later I am now left with lifting boards, minor gaps and squeaking in that area. Not happy. My personal experience was not good. read more

I had a tenant that let a refrigerator drain all over the hardwood floor. She also scraped and dropped multiple things on it. I thought I was going to have to remove all of the hardwood flooring but Joe showed me how the team could remove the damaged pieces and weave new ones in. The worst service you can possibly receive at the pick up. Forklift not working. Gate is not working. No staff to help you to load the materials. Over all, just horrible! We paid additional money for a commercial-grade finish. Less than a year later, when we had a small home project completed, the finish peeled off the floor where some painter's tape had been used to hold down the cloth to protect the floor. Clarks came out and fixed it the first time. When it happened a few months later on another small project, Clarks didn't return my call. This was a big project for Clarks. They refinished the floors in our house and replaced the wood flooring in three rooms and part of our hallways. While everything looks good, I don't have confidence in the finish they used. And they should have returned to fix the finish both times. read more

We've used Clark's Hardwood Floors to upkeep our old floors. They do great work, but we usually have to have them come back for touch up work. Thankfully they don't charge for the 2nd trip! If you have original hard wood floors and need to add a new coat of poly they are the folks to call. Awesome! Would give 10 stars if allowed. We used Clark's to refinish our hardwood floors in our entryway, kitchen and dining room. Larry was very helpful in providing the quote and explaining carefully what was being done and (importantly) when we could use the house. The color needed to be matched to our living room (which we did not refinish). They did an absolutely wonderful job - you cannot tell there is anything new. The workers were great - carefully taped off the area, and using their dust collection system, there was almost no dust. They took extra care around the trim molding so that there is absolutely no stain on the paint. They cleaned up totally every day. They informed us of exactly when they were coming each day. The finished job is incredible - makes us wish we did this earlier. Their pricing was quite reasonable - and was actually on the lower end of the quotes we got. Highly recommend Clark's. read more

As part of our remodel, we installed solid maple floors, stairs and landings. Our first contractor did a terrible job finishing the stairs. We brought Clark's in to redo the finish, a challenging job. The did a WONDERFUL JOB, Beautiful!!! Looks fantastic. What was especially impressive was they were able to color match the prefinished maple floors the stairs connected to. See pictures attached. Clark's is one of the best contractors I have ever worked with, in any trade. We had our floors completely refinished, including sanding, staining, multiple layers of epoxy finish, and finally, installation of base shoe. Lots of positives: - They are easy to reach via email or phone - They are prompt - They work efficiently - They are courteous - They are very careful with protecting your house during the process - They have a dustless sanding system that really is dustless! - They are meticulous -- for example, after the initial sanding, they cover the entire floor with filler to cover all the gaps and even defects that you cannot see. Then they resand. At the end, they leave you felt pads for your furniture. Lots of attention to detail. - Most importantly, they produce a spectacular product. We are very pleased with the quality of the work. I was already planning on giving them a 5-star review. But then they went above and beyond. When moving in our furniture, we dropped a couch onto the new floors, leaving two indentations in a single plank of wood. Ouch!! We called them back, and their team re-sanded, re-stained, and re-finished the damaged plank. This took 3 separate visits. I emailed them to get me a price, and they ended up doing it at no charge. Just incredibly gracious. Special thanks to Nancy and Larry in the office, who were our primary contact points, and to Jay and Jaime, our lead crew. Called the company, scheduled a free appraisal. The man that came by, Joe, was punctual and pleasant. No complaints on that score. However, this is where things went downhill. When I asked what the estimate for the work was (a small section of a small portion of the wooden floor), he replied that it might take as many as 2 days to get back to me via e-mail. Okay, fine. 2 days go by, and I don't receive any e-mail. I call the company, and speak with a rude woman who doesn't disclose her name (later I asked, and it was "Carrie") and interrupts me several times when I'm explaining the situation. (Literally our first interaction) She says that the estimate is ready (then why wasn't it sent earlier, until I called in?) and will be sent to me via e-mail. Okay, no problem. She says I should receive the e-mail within the next few moments. I thank her and hang up. 30 minutes go by, nothing. I call back again and leave a message asking for a call-back. 3 hours go by. Nothing. I call back again within an hour of when they close, and again get Carrie on the line. Turns out they had sent the estimate to the wrong e-mail address, mistaking a number for a letter. I had been very specific about the e-mail to Joe, what was a number and a letter, and have literally never had anyone screw up the address before. They also hadn't bothered listening to messages, which I can partially understand if they're busy. (My fiancee works as a receptionist) However, if they sent it to the wrong e-mail address, then surely it would have come back with a "Failure Notice" error message, right? Out of curiosity, I asked Carrie about this, and she claimed that no such error message had been received and they looked for this. (More on this later) When they finally sent the estimate to me correctly, I thanked Carrie and stated I received it. To this, Carrie murmured a "mm-hmmm" and hung up on me mid-sentence. Unlike screwing up my e-mail address, I can't say this has never happened to me when dealing with a business. But it's rare. At this point, I found it exceptionally curious that their e-mail to the wrong address had supposedly produced no error message, and decided to test it out by sending my own e-mail to the incorrect address they had used. Sure enough, I received a "Failure Notice" within seconds. Either Carrie is legally blind, or else she blatantly lied to me, hoping the dumb customer would believe her. Clark's might be fantastic when it comes to their actual hardwood work, but their customer service is unprofessional, slow, insulting, will break promises, and blatantly lie to you. I don't wish to do business with such a company. Edit for the generic PR response by the business owner below- If you truly cared, you would have addressed my specific case, apologized for the receptionist's behavior (as opposed to being sorry for my "experience", which is insincere and condescending, as it implies the problem is mine), or simply reached out via e-mail, which I know you have. The workmanship was very good. They suggested a better looking baseboard than we had before and took their time to make sure the detail around the fireplace hearth, heater vents, and the slider door looked good. They did a nice job connecting the joints on the pre-finished hardwood. It looks a lot better than before. This was a re-do from a flood. We used the same exact product on the original install about 4 years ago so I can tell the difference was just in the higher quality installation. read more

I found the entire Clark's team very responsive throughout the process. They arrived when they said for the estimate; I asked them to come back to answer questions and they did; they started and completed the work as quoted; they came back, without issue, to retouch a few blemishes. I'm a perfectionist and I wanted everything done as promised and properly - they delivered. I don't have enough good things to say about Clark's. We obtained several flooring bids - they weren't the highest or lowest. Our decision was made based on warm reception at warehouse, responsiveness and the ease of connecting with the office staff, ease of communication with Joe, who came out to meausure, and all my questions/concerns being answered/responded to. I recommend them and would use them again. We replaced carpeting and installed hardwood floors, as well as had 3 rooms with existing wood flooring sanded and refinished. It all came out perfectly. Note to those reading reviews, when you have wood floors installed and everything sanded and fnished there are bound to be a few mars on walls and in our case baseboards since we didn't have them take the baseboards off and had them install base shoe instead. I expected this - they are moving around equipment, boards, etc. I touched up the walls and baseboards with patch and paint as necessary. There wasn't a lot, but there was some. I considered this all very reasonable. Also, I highly recommend their dust free system. Yes, you can save a few bucks without it, but it is well worth the price. While getting our home ready for market my Realtor asked who we were using and how much they cost. I told him we were using Clark's. He said that he could get it done cheaper by someone else, and I replied, "Maybe but you can't get it done better." We used Clark's ten years ago and while their work was still good we had some water damage to one of the floors and our master bedroom had a job done by another company before we moved in. Clark's matched all three areas so well that they all look like they were done at the same time, by the same company. We ordered hardwood floor from Clark's after some research. It seemed they had a unique floor model that we liked; other shops had a similar floor from the same manufacturer - but with a different model number, 10% cheaper, and the finish wasn't quite the same. When the shipment arrived, it had a different model number on the packaging - it's the cheaper one that we didn't quite like! When I called Clark's, they said the floors were 'the same'. As for the different look, it was due to "the age of the sample" in Clark's showroom. When we got in touch with the owner, she said the manufacturer had changed the model number, didn't think we should have been notified with the change, and refused to match other shops' pricing. Later on she did offer to take the product back - before going into total communication silence. But by then, re-selecting and re-purchasing floors was no longer an option due to our remodeling schedule. The bottom line: Clark's didn't have good selection or pricing. Other stores offer more varieties and better price. If not for the deceptive practice that misled us to believe they had a unique offering, they would not have gotten our business. read more

The team at Clark's is 100% professional and top notch. From selection of flooring, arranging for an estimate to scheduling installation every encounter met my expectations. A sewage flood necessitated that our ground floor hardwood be removed and new flooring installed. The demolition was fast about 2 days for glued down wood. The crew cleaned up at the end of each day so the house was liveable. The actual installation demonstrated real craftsmanship with a few challenging curves and angles. Highly recommended. We replaced the old yucky carpet in the whole house (2400sqft) with wonderful clean red oak. We had different crews come because of our scheduling requirements- and they all were fantastic, knowledgeable, customer oriented and above all very skilled in their craft. Larry worked around our schedule and between Joe (measurements); Jorge, Jaime, Albert, Jose who did our floors- we ended up with absolutely gorgeous floors. We have seen their trucks driving around Campbell for years- we love that they are in our neighborhood. Also years ago while at home depot I was hauling a very heavy load into my car- I remember a Clark van and the driver coming over to me to help me load- extremely customer oriented- it was probably one the guys who worked on our floors. Ok my house was build in the 40's, and the floors have never gotten any love. in the 70's covered with shag wall to wall. 90's the floors got uncovered. Rain, dirty, stains... but i still loved the floors. Clark's staff came in and gave me hope, clean and quick. I was not onboard with the stain, but they took a board out of the back and game me a sample showing.... well my floor is the showcase of the house. OMG! they are the best. Wow! This place is awesome. We had white oak floors in our kitchen that we wanted to stain to match the dark oak in the rest of the house. The floor turned out gorgeous and is a near perfect match. They installed new flooring in our bedroom and tore out the carpets and refinished the floors in 2 other bedrooms. Everything turned out fantastic! People constantly comment on our floors when they come over. We had them out again after our contractor put tape down on the floors and pulled up the finish when he took the tape off. We were devastated but Clark's was able to sand down the area by hand, stain and clear coat the area. It looks even better than it did before my contractor damaged it! Nancy is great. I was extremely impressed and satisfied with Clark's Hardwood Floors. Joe showed up promptly for the appointment and was very knowledgeable about the hardwood issue I was experiencing. He knew exactly what needed to be done. Their work crew did an outstanding job repairing sections of my hardwood floor that experienced water damage due to leaks by my patio doors. They re sanded the entire area and returned 3 times to coat and wax the floor. Crew was very experienced and very carful in our home. Absolutely no sanding dust with their new equipment.
