A measuring technician came out, took all the dimensions, and directed us to the 1020 W. San Carlos location to review their full carpet selection. At the store, we explained what we were looking for, compared carpet features and pricing, and worked with Dominic--who was very accommodating. His total project cost was competitive with the other quotes we received. We also wanted new baseboards that would match our freshly painted walls and trim. Dominic arranged to have the primed (but unpainted) 16' wood baseboards delivered ahead of installation, giving us time to paint everything before the carpet went in. Tip Our new carpet and pad are very soft and plush--great underfoot, especially on the stairs. Because the new flooring sits higher than the original laminate, our bedroom doors needed to be trimmed by about half an inch. We cut the doors ourselves, but it's worth asking whether your installer can include that as part of the project. Pros * Dominic is a true carpeting professional--he anticipated our needs and offered thoughtful guidance throughout the process. * Both the wood and carpet installation teams did solid, quality work. Cons * Some door trim was scuffed as the installers maneuvered large carpet rolls through our narrow hallway and doorways, so a bit of repainting was needed afterward.

I don't think you can beat this place unless you need continuous carpet for several rooms. Even then, I'd still investigate what Dominic can do for you.

SERVANDO/EVERGREEN ARE THE BEST! I'VE INSTALLED NEW FLOORS 4 DIFFERENT TIMES AND THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE BEST EXPERIENCE. LOWEST COMPETITIVE PRICES ON MATERIALS AND INSTALL, SUPER HARDWORKING WORKING EVEN ON SUNDAY, QUICK BY INSTALLING IN 1/2 THE TIME THE OTHERS QUOTED, & MADE IT FEEL EFFORTLESS TO REPLACE OUR FLOORS WHILE WE HOMESCHOOLED 3 YOUNG KIDS AT HOME. I cannot begin to explain how appreciative I am of Servando and his crew at Evergreen. But let me try to break it down. 1) BOARD SAMPLES All the other companies wanted me to travel to their showroom to see boards, where as Servando sent me photos. Once he knew which ones we liked, he then gave free delivery of the sample boards to our home. This was a really nice touch, particularly as we are so busy and don't want to leave the home unnecessarily. 2) PRICING I got 9 qoutes to replace the floors of my 5 bedroom, two story house in Los Altos. I contacted many 5 star yelp rated floor providers, even ones that had many more reviews. Evergreen not only had the most competitive price, BUT their quote was also straight forward. It had 5 line items (Material, Labor, Glue, Stairs, Baseboards). In contrast, many of the other floor providers gave up to a 80 line item quote which was also wildly more expensive. Most of the other providers would charge $75 to move the fridge, $50 to move the oven, and on and on and on. I felt like I was being nickled and dimed for so many different things. A couple floor companies even said they would NOT lay the floors under the dishwasher because they don't touch plumbing (What?! I pull the dishwasher out once a year to clean behind it, it's no big deal). Servando on the other hand asked us to move as many little things as we could, but that his crew would take care of the rest. I really didn't even move all the little things because I didn't have time, and his crew was so respectful of our stuff, moving it around for us, which made our lives SO MUCH EASIER. Particularly when we were living in the house while they did the floors. And I didn't even have to ask and the floors were already laid below the fridge and dishwasher. 3) TIMING Since we have 3 kids and homeschool, we wanted to stay home as long as possible while the work was being done to avoid having to transport all their work, computers, etc. Most of the other installers said it would take 2 weeks fo them to complete the job. Servando said he could do it in 1 week!! On top of this, most of the other installers recommended we MOVE OUT into a Hotel (for 2 weeks?? Imagine the cost of that). Servando drafted a plan and said we could do our bedrooms last and that we could move the kids' workstations around the house after the new floor was laid in that area. It worked out perfectly. For the last 2 days, we decided to spend the weekend in San Francisco while Servando finished our bedrooms. Unfortunately, there was a delay and his team was not able to finish on Saturday. So instead of admitting defeat, he got his full team to work from morning until night on Sunday so that we would have our beds to sleep in that Sunday night when we arrived back. He went ABOVE and BEYOND and I highly doubt any of the other floor companies would do this. 4) QUALITY OF WORK Servando's crew are the most nice guys. Always smiling. Always being super respectful whenever anyone in our household would pass by then. Super hard working, starting early and finishing really late, arriving every single day and taking advantage of the time they spent working. The quality of the work is second to none. We are so incredibly blessed by our newer, lighter boards, which has really just transformed our home. 5) GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND I already mentioned the many ways Servando and his team had gone above and beyond. However, to list a few more. When the new baseboards were installed, they only come primed and not painted. I didn't want to have to hire a painter and I didn't have time to do it myself so Servando said he could do it. He had never done it before, but we're planning to paint our interior walls at some point, but really appreciated him painting the boards until we get there (someday). He told us upfront that this was not something he did, but he would do it for us to help make our lives easier. As the owner, Servando is super passionate to deliver the absolute best. I can tell when I see him actually getting down and laying boards, painting baseboards, and doing some of the work. The Crew and Servando are experts and have been doing this a long time. I discovered they are new to Yelp and just starting to build their reviews, so I had to contribute one deserving of the high quality job they performed for us. They really changed our lives. So to try to give back, I'm taking the time to document what an incredible experience we had. I really do believe it is all of these small details which make a difference. I moved from Texas on Jan and bought a house in Bay Area, I founded this company reffered by my coworker. I used a radiant heat flooring and my european oak floor looks awesome, me and my wife loves it so much. I love my new floors in my garage! The herringbone style is a lot more difficult to lay than the traditional straight laid floors. I was very impressed by evergreens patience and artistic ability to lay these out and make my garage look amazing. They recommended I use A stone hybrid wood which could take the weight of my cars that are parked in here as well as handle the temperature changes from hot to cold. I can't believe how unbelievably amazing this looks, I'm so happy I chose Evergreen to do this work! They started and finished in less than two days, price was fair, and awesome guys to work with - 5 stars all the way!! read more

I'm sorry to say, that as much as I liked Servando, and they did do the first job well, the fact that he did not return any phone calls or emails afterwards, after he had agreed to do the rest of the work, was very unprofessional. If you no longer want to be our contractor, then call the customer and tell them, maybe give an explanation, but don't just go silent. read more

The floors look beautiful and elegant, and have completely transformed the look and feel of my home! Scott was incredibly knowledgeable about the process and he was able to tell the types of wood and flooring installed in our home 20 years ago! His crew did an amazing job with the refinishing process, making sure that every detail was attended to. They took great care to sand down any imperfections in the wood, and used high-quality finishes to bring out the natural beauty of the wood grain. They use advanced equipment to reduce the sanding dust to a minimum which I didn't appreciate enough until the work started! The final result is a smooth and glossy finish that has incredible depth and richness to it. I can't be more pleased with Scott and his crew enough for the incredible work they did. If you're looking for a company that can breathe new life into your hardwood floors, I highly recommend Elegant Floors. They truly exceeded my expectations, and I'm sure they'll do the same for you. To add on: A few days later, a piece of our floor under the fridge was soaked due to PG&E power outages. Without hesitation, I called Scott again. He was able to come onsite the same day, measured the moisture level, and sent the crew the next day to fix it! The result was of course great. They matched perfectly with the rest of the flooring. :)

This is a very delayed review- I had my hardwood floors redone by Peninsula Floors last year, but I…read morestill find myself thinking about the experience so I decided it might be helpful to others to share. The bottom line is that the bulk of the work was good, I'm overall satisfied with the results, and am glad that we got the floors refinished. However, there were several details about the experience that would make me hesitate to recommend Peninsula to friends or others looking to redo their floors. - I was initially quoted ~7-8 working days to redo the floors. The initial work actually took closer to 13 working days, and it took another 7 working days on top of that to complete followup items after I reviewed the initial work. To be fair, I was traveling for about 5 of those working days during some of the initial work and probably caused a bit of delay in my own responses being slow, but I also don't think that all of the delay was due to myself. - When provided stain samples, I was initially provided the wrong names corresponding to the samples. This was only noticed because I asked for another set of samples in another area of the house and was confused as to why the colors varied so much, and asked about it- otherwise it's very possible I would have selected a completely different color than what I intended. - There was some damage done by the sander to our metal stair railing, which they did patch up with paint, but it's still visible where the damage was. Also, initially only some of the stairs in the home had the scotia trim replaced- when I asked the ones where the previous paint clearly showed they also used to have trim, they just added it to all of the stairs regardless of which ones did or didn't have it before. There was also a tricky area in a closet that I said I would be okay not refinishing, and instead it was sanded but not refinished due to not being able to get into that area- I would have just preferred the initial topcoat wasn't removed in that case, because that area is now just unprotected wood. None of these details were mentioned to me or provided as project updates until I asked about them. - Lastly, after I had sent the final payment through, I realized some of our doorstops were missing after having been removed from the trim to not get in the way of the sanders. I asked where the team may have left them so I could reattach them and got no response. It's not a big deal, they were less than $5, but later, after moving in, I also asked about if there were cleaning/maintenance products they would recommend and also got no response. Being completely ghosted after having dealt with some of the difficulties mentioned above really left me feeling like they totally wrote me off as a customer and was not a pleasant way to end the project. I think they do decent work, but I suspect they're a bit stretched thin and smaller/less important jobs are not supervised as much and don't seem like they have the same quality bar. If I were to do it again, I feel like I would have been happier supervising more closely from the start. Edit- I appreciate Juan's response (below and privately), however I do want to make clear that not everything was addressed as I was told they would be. For example, for the incompletely sanded and unfinished area of the closet I mentioned above, I was told it would at least have some form of finish applied, which never happened. There were a few other details like this, but at some point it was no longer worth my time to chase them down especially as we were getting close to our move in which we initially thought we would have far more buffer for.

It took about 10 days and the results were amazing. It turned out way better than my highest expectation. Also need to point out we previously had new 5 inch baseboards installed and virtually no damage to them. They keep us abreast of what the progress was. TLDR: Yes I definitely recommend Andro…read more We had a very good experience overall working with Andro to replace the carpet in our master bedroom with laminate flooring. I did my research and ended up strongly preferring higher-end laminate over LVP and hybrid options. Andro provided a competitive quote, and was very clear and straightforward to work with. I personally have a strong preference for people who are NOT trying to smooth-talk me OR tell me how they are giving a special price 'just for me'. So the fact that Andro never for a second tried to BS me on anything, is a massive plus. There was no ambiguity about what is included and what is not. The flooring brand he works with is good quality and had a lot of variety. We took our sweet time in deciding. I would definitely recommend doing one's own research in type of flooring you want, quality and price range you are good with, and getting comfortable with what you decide. We looked at options from home depot, lowes, floor & decor, as well as a couple of local stores -- and pretty much covered the spectrum of quality and price. We did end up going with the brand Andro partners with. They have a showroom/office nearby and made it easy to take as many samples as we wanted. We tried a variety of them at home, in different lights, saw how things coordinated with other existing flooring, etc. It was a bit embarrassing when I went back there to return the pile of samples I had borrowed, but hey, we were being thorough! The installation was quick and efficient, and the flooring fit and finish looks super-professional! The installer who works for Andro has 10+ years of experience and did a good job distributing patterns and planning the cut-lengths well across the bedroom and walk-in closet. He also fixed a minor issue that was discovered in a corner of the room after the carpet was removed. By the way, we did not have a leveling problem in the floor, so no additional sub-floor leveling was needed. There was a bit of a hiccup as the guy made an error when caulking the re-attached baseboards. But Andro made things right without any hesitation. Not only was the caulking cleaned and re-done but Andro went beyond that and had his guy do some additional work too. It is very important to see how someone reacts when something goes wrong, and he checked an important box! Andro stands out in the crowd for his quality of work, good communication, no bs or upsell, and focus on making sure the customer is happy!

They did a great job. During/after the installation, they always asked about if there was anything we liked/did not like, and whether or not we wanted them to change anything. They were super easy to work with and I would recommend to anyone looking at flooring options. From the last installation (which already went through a final inspection with myself and Andro), I found some other things I wanted changed/corrected. He and his team had 0 issue addressing things I wanted changed (even if a normal home owner/other may not care). Because we had extra wood (and stair noses), I asked his team if they could do our garage closet. While it's over the top (and unnecessary), they said no problem, and gave me such an extremely good deal I couldn't believe it! I really appreciate his willingness to work with my demands and warranty his product/installation. We'll see what other projects we have in the future for Andro, and hope to have him help us. As a note, I've had other contractors who have helped me on projects that just constantly stress me out. Being in the house, and watching them perform things give me anxiety! However, with Andro and his team, I had no problem going to work/or leaving freely because I knew they would stand behind their work!
