Been coming here since before it was Clarkson. They are top notch in terms of care and precision of prescription. And good news for you who can't stand the Glaucoma test, it is no longer a puff of air, it is just a hand held tool that shoots a less intrusive puff of air. Good selection and it's somewhat competitive on prices, but that is really up to you and what your eyes require and you prefer. In 2023 I had a contact scratch my cornea and lost vision in my left eye. They knew what to do and got me back to good in just a few days. It was a medical visit which is different than an eye wear visit. read more

Came back to pick up my two pair of progressive eye glasses that were ordered over a month ago and waited around and again my first pair was not what I ordered and the second pair had still not been ordered. Requested a refund which will take up to two weeks. Sorry Clarkson, you lost a 3 year customer I will wait and see how long it takes to receive refund but at this point I am ready for more disappointment. read more

-They added additional items to my fathers invoice without telling him,making the bill above $600 (he paid cash) -We cancelled less then 24hrs via phone call, in which they did not mark in his chart,take a note or advise us that it take 6-8weeks for refunds after the glasses come in 2weeks, how is this possible even when we paid cash. -In addition ,they id not tell us until the 3rd time I went inside that they only can do refunds via check and only a manager can authorize. and they notified us that they never put the refund in and wasted 2 weeks of my time. -I asked for corporate # for customer service from Manger Rose and She on purpose gave me the wrong number.how do you not know your own customers service/HR/corporate number as a manager -Rose the manger also begins to tell us her problems that returns come out of the stores profit, as if we care or is our issue, when they are causing us the issue. As a business you don't tell customers your problems. -They don't train the employees properly and they don't state anywhere that refunds are only via check and takes 6-8 weeks or manager needs to be onsite for refunds. no where on the invoice or receipt. A shout out to Angela at Clarkson at Tackets Mill in Lakeridge! When I arrived at my appointment, Angela was assisting a gentleman who was not only disrespectful to her, but was also using his "loud" voice to complain about what seemed to be a misunderstanding. The WORST Experience EVER!!!!!! I was extremely excited to receive my glasses which took forever to receive. No txt for updates.. Once I spoke with someone I was Informed that my lenses was done wrong and had to be done over. Went to pick up my glasses, I tried on In store and they were Extremely Blurry and hurt my eyes so Bad!!!!! My eyes started burning.. Tried on again while driving and immediately I had to take off. Remind you I still never received a txt or anything, kept saying UPS running behind and that was told to me twice within a week and few days. I worked for UPS 33 and If anybody know how the system operates Is ME!!!!!!!! The next day I returned my Glasses and lost money that was refundable. I should've received all my money back. I was told my Insurance will be refunded back and It takes 6 to 8 Weeks! Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm Upset Annoyed and Disappointed..! I walked out the office Sad and Very Disappointed!!!!!!!!' Since Clarkson took over May and Hettler this place has seriously declined. I'm speaking specifically about the Lake ridge, VA location . I saw Dr. Alvin Siv and they first year he was good and the second year he blew through my apt within 15 mins . Needless, to say I won't be going back to him next year. Also, as I walked in before my apt, there were 3 people sitting at the front desk chatting it up. I would not have had a problem with it except after my apt no one bothered to ask me about Making my next years apt. That has never happened to me In over the 10 years I have been going to May and Hettler. I'm seriously considering finding a new eye care provider. I'm sure I won't be missed but wanted to share my experiences the last 2 years. I will say Dr. Parrish completed my eye exam a few years back and she was very professional and thorough. I had a eye check in appointment with Dr. Stefan Young who was extremely passive aggressive and unprofessional during our check in. I did not want to write a bad review, but had no choice to cause I don't want anyone to go through what I went through. The doctor was extremely passive aggressive and would snap at me everytime I asked a question. Even when explaining my eye situation the doctor would shut me out, and say "that's what I said" in a harsh tone. Even when I asked to clarify for which eye I was supposed to cover, he said "I JUST SAID LEFT EYE." Not only have I been mistreated, I do not feel comfortable going to a doctor like this. I highly recommend anyone to visit elsewhere until the doctors go through some form of training in how to talk to their patients. read more

I don't recommend Dr Heller, at all. We found him to be disrespectful and very condescending and with a "snake oil salesman" vibe. My husband has been a patient of another doctor at this location and likes him okay. Will probably go elsewhere for our eye care needs. read more

Worst customer service. Bought glasses as gift for my son (also purchased extra warranty), they broke within the 12 month warranty and he was asked to mail them back for replacement as stated in the warranty. upon the return of the glasses (over 3 weeks), they were glued in a manner that allowed no flexibility whatsoever and broke immediately when trying them on for the first time. Staff refused to offer any compensation stating that they couldn't be fixed plus they no longer carried the Flexon brand, there was also some fraudulent activity with his insurance stemming from this location. read more

I have been having difficulty with my peripheral vision in my new glasses. It is extremely blurry. I called Clarkson the first day I had them to let them know. I asked to come back for an appointment to address the issue. Unfortunately my regular optometrist was on vacation so I had to see Dr. Hettler. He was quite condescending and within 30 seconds of sitting in the chair and having me read one line on the eye chart said there was nothing he could do. He made no attempt to check my peripheral vision at all. He then said to "just turn your head", as if that would solve the issue. I expressed concern for driving with such poor peripheral vision. To which he replied, "then don't wear them to drive." Next he brought up my previous pairs of glasses (from last year) which I had to exchange because they put the wrong lenses in the wrong frames. I guess trying to make me out to be a problem patient so they wouldn't have to take responsibility for the issue. Which is ridiculous since I have gone there for 18 years. He said to try wearing them for several weeks to see if my eyes adjust-which I agreed to. But I am going to get a second opinion as well to see if there is an issue with the prescription or the lenses. Right now it feels like I wasted several hundred dollars on glasses I can barely use. Also, I ordered new lenses for my old glasses because I really like them. I waited for them to come in and when they did they supposedly were just round circles-not cut to the size of the frames. So they reordered the lenses. This time when they arrived they were supposedly too small for my frames and have to be done a third time. Clarkson either uses an incredibly poor lens manufacturer or they can't measure the frames accurately (or copy the measurements accurately out of the catalog). So once again I'm out several hundred dollars with nothing to show so far. They used to be a quality eye care place, but they no longer seem to stand by what they do or their products. read more
