We walked up and wow...the line was so long. There will be lines, fair warning. The neon sign was everything because I am the Cookie Monster of the DMV. If it's baked, warm, sprinkled or melts slightly when you touch it, I want it. Hand it over! Cute places to sit outside the shop! Very date‑night worthy, and lots of couples doing sweet couple things. I love... love. This was lovely to see; old couples, new couples, couples who look like they met on the walk over. Love is beautiful. Let's get into it! I did not want to do the brownie cookie sandwich, but my new big‑back friend said I could and should, so I did. Don't threaten me with a good treat. Just wow, I didn't know I needed this in my life, but I definitely do! Build your own ice cream sandwiches? Yes, please! Pick your base (cookies for a sandwich, cookie bowl, or cone), pick your ice cream (tons of yummy flavors), pick your toppings (lots of options). This was our first visit here. The staff was very helpful. There are a few seats inside. There were so many choices of cookies and brownies for the sandwiches. You can even get it in a bowl with a brownie or cookie as the based. I got a sandwich with snickdoodle and butter goes cookies and vanilla ice cream. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I really like cookies and I love ice cream, so this sounded like a great place to try! Make your own ice cream sandwich - yes please! My first problem, though, was the overwhelming options. There were so many different kinds of cookies, and you could put different ones on top and bottom, plus there were 8-10 kinds of ice cream, maybe? As someone with only one shot at it, making the decision was really difficult. I ended up with a chocolate chip cookie on top, a brownie on the bottom, and dark chocolate ice cream in between. It was good. I do wonder if another combination might have allowed me to really get a good taste of each of the components. Maybe a snickerdoodle with the caramel pretzel fudge? Solid 3.75 - the vegan gf chocolate chocolate chip cookie is excellent but the plain vegan gluten free chocolate chip cookie was OK. I LOVE that they heat the cookies. I tried the oat milk ice cream option and it was creamy and smooth. Great texture. Service was excellent and the despite being a young staff they patiently explained how the whole process worked. Clean interior as well. Small but nice when they keep the doors open. My only complaint is that for me- it just felt like sugar on sugar on sugar. Like so sweet that I couldn't taste distinct flavors. If it was less sugary it'd truly be excellent. I'd be curious to try a non-dairy flavor and see if it's more flavorful. Full disclosure, I came because of their customer appreciation day and they were offering a free ice cream cone. I got the seasonal browned butter donut. You should always try a season flavor when offered because it may be a while before it comes back. The free cone was a cake cone but they do have waffle cones if you desire. I wasn't sure whether I would like a donut in ice cream because I don't normally like soggy dough but this turned out great. I liked the little chunks of donut! The ice cream flavor was a little plain but the ice cream was refreshing on a lovely day. Service was friendly which was great when you have so many kids who love the place. I'm a COOKIE MONSTER!!!!! I have an unhealthy obsession with cookies. This place did not disappoint. The variety of options and the cookies I had so far were good. I ordered a dozen (variety) and have eaten 3 so far. Service: very quick, nice, and he gave me a taste of the gluten-free ice-cream. I chose to still pass on it. Ambiance was super cool with a Gen-Z tone. It's a small place and a bit challenging to find because it's in the interior part. The Ramen place is right next to it. The activity there was distracting me from finding The Baked Bear. I would go back; however knowing me, I will most likely opt for a new spot because I enjoy exploring new spots. People like this place, and I guess I agree. It is such a fun concept, but boy, if you're getting an ice cream sandwich, be ready for it. The serving size is one size only: triple extra large. You can get a sundae, a bear bowl (cookie in a bowl with ice cream on top), and just ice cream or just cookies. So, you really can't go wrong here if you are hankering for ice cream or cookies. The place is small though, so in the summery and warmer months, don't anticipate sitting comfortably inside an air-conditioned space to eat your delicious frozen dessert. The butter cake cookie had an artificial taste that I didn't care for but the ice-cream sandwich as a whole was a 9/10. My only other con would be that the ice cream selection felt limited, either the ice-cream flavors were doing too much or too little and there was no happy medium. Parking is really good and if you are there 0-2 hours parking is free. When we first walked up the line was out the door but the line moved really quickly and the workers were patient & nice ! Thursday 10/26/23 The last time I had the baked bear was in 2021 and I remember getting 2 ice cream sandwiches: one with cookies n cream ice cream in between brownies and another with cookies n cream ice cream between cookies n cream cookies. Both of the sandwiches I had were pretty good but the brownie sandwich was my favorite. It's been awhile so I decided to run it back. I got a hot pressed Browniewich for $8.45 (brownie & cookies n cream ice cream) and a hot pressed Cookiewich for $8.25 (top cookies n cream cookie, cookies n cream ice cream, bottom chocolate chip cookie). The ice cream sandwiches were decent but not as good as I remember. The cookies n cream ice cream was okay, the brownies were very thin and underwhelming (likely due to being hot pressed), and the cookies were solid. The baked bear is a cool spot with a unique concept that I could see a lot of people enjoying but it's just solid for me, there's plenty of other ice cream spots I'd much rather go to. read more

I wish I had gotten the name of the kind lady who helped me--she truly made my day. The inside is a little tight, but cute! What makes this location great is the lawn right outside + tables for outdoor seating. There are plenty of garages and lots to park, all paid. Overall not a bad experience. I visited midday and was disappointed that quite a few of the popular cookies were either sold out or not being sold on this day. The choices of ice cream were also limited. To my surprise the ice cream cookie sandwiches were served in a cup as opposed to in the traditional fashion that is without a cup. Regarding the flavor factor, I ordered a Chocolate Brownie Sundae and Cookie Monster cookie ice cream sandwich. While they both were good I can't say after the first visit that it is commensurate to the price. Staff were pleasant and courteous however the speed of service could be better. I'd definitely visit again and more likely early after opening during the week. Hopefully most of the cookie and ice cream flavors will be available. I came here for dessert and I can say I was very pleased with how my dessert came out. Their ice cream is very good and their cookies are phenomenal. The cookies are crispy and crunchy on the outside as well as soft and gooey on the inside. Customer service was great and quick with my order. The workers were very nice and understanding. The interior was great and clean, not much seating inside at all but I can't blame them because there are 2 places right beside it. There is outside seating that makes up for it. Although the food is great and the inside is clean, there aren't many ice cream flavors or cookie flavors. Visited twice on our recent trip to Bethesda. Located in a super cute shopping center right next to amazing ramen. If you eat dinner first, skip dessert and come here. If you are vegan, they have a vegan cookie and vegan ice cream. They are stored and scooped separately (with a separate dairy free labeled scoop) so could work for allergies too. The vegan ice cream was delicious. Rich and creamy with great flavor. The vegan chocolate chip cookie was also delicious. Couldn't even tell it was vegan. A non vegan in our party had the macadamia nut cookie which was delicious and the cake batter cookie which was rich, soft and divine.
