I bought a 1969 Firebird from Gearhead Classics for over 50K dollars with air conditioning installed. Robbie Trotter assured me this car had an 8 out of 10 paint and body and that the car had no body filler or rust. Also they said everything works except the horn, while the horn is one of the few things that is operational in the car, though it is a half-wired switch screwed to the underside of the dashboard. This car was purchased online, Robbie and Carson Trotter handled the entire deal and lied the entire way. The car arrived to me and I immediately noticed the terrible body and paint work. The front fender is hanging off of the vehicle and it was half reassembled after their shotty attempt at installing the air conditioning I paid 5500.00 above the price of the car to have them install. Carson apologized for "forgetting" to have the body shop fix the fender as his mechanic was struggling with it. Carson Trotter also texted me admitting they were unaware of all of this hidden damage and they "must have missed it". After admitting they did not realize the body is full of body filler to the point a magnet will not stick even on the roof! The car has rust painted over and coming through the paint, the glass was installed in a very shotty manner with gobs of sealer to keep it from leaking. Half of the gauges do not work, the right side door lock is inoperable and the door sags. There are multiple cracks in the paint and multiple spots the paint is not even sticking! The door jams are pitted and painted over. The wiring in the car is a fire waiting to happen. The car does not shut off when you turn the ignition off. It has a cracked headlight and tail light and one brake light and turn signal are inoperable. The suspension makes all kinds of noise on turns and dips in the road. The car is unsafe and is a mess cosmetically and possibly structurally. Gearhead Classics lied about the condition and they admitted they were unaware of these issues, but they refuse to take the car back or resolve this in any way saying I bought the car AS-IS. Yet they believe they can lie and promise conditions that are incredibly inaccurate and the AS-IS clause saves them. RUN FAST!!! read more

I would suggest that you look elsewhere. I made the biggest mistake ever, trusting what they said they do and had done to the car I purchased. I was unable to go see it because I have been ill and I asked for pictures and was lead to believe they were a reputable reseller. I spent $55k on what I thought and was told, its ready to drive daily because they go through it with some 200 things they check or repair, yea right. I have had to go through so many things just to get it to go down the road safely. Here is just a few things that come to mind while I hopefully persuade you to LOOK ELSEWHERE. The tires were not balanced, and then to find out that 2 of the rims needed to be replace because they are bent. Steering system was a complete joke, dangerous and unsafe. Blown shocks and the rear had to be at least 45 years old, plus the top nuts were almost completely off the shaft, only a few threads holding them on. It bounced down the road and the rear leaf springs were shot, it raised almost 2 inches when I replaced them. They did not even do a tune up, cap, rotor, wires and plugs, everything was old, hard wires and burnt. Radiator leaking with worn out hoses and NO thermostat in the motor. The carb was leaking like a sieve, had to replace it. The alternator was a joke, broken bolt in it, so someone drilled a new hole next to it and it was crooked, plus it was sprayed with oil so it wouldn't squeal. No inside dash lights either, it blows the fuse every time.I washed the motor, lets just say it was not a good outcome. Now finally the really big one, I ran a compression test because it's just not running right, not good results. I still need to do a compression leakdown test, that will tell me what I already know, the motor needs to be rebuilt. I figured some things would need assistance, but when you spend this much money, REALLY? This has turned what should have been a wonderful fun time in my life into a money pit. Thank goodness I am very mechanically inclined and havent had to pay for labor so far. The motor is going to be a different story though. I am not one to complain and had I not been lied to and things hidden, I probably would have never posted this. I suggest you use me as what not to do. Was told great truck no issues, 1967 c10, paid big money well it shows up few days late not a big deal, was told by Robbi last thing they do before it gets sent out to be run thru there tech to make sure everything works as it should, first thing 2 1/2 quarts of oil low, engine over heating fans not working, I contacted him he said he drives it in texas never had any issues over heating bullshit im in ca, the temp outside was 75 degrees with in 20 mintues over heating at stop sign, engine smokes goes thru oil have to add a quart every 200 miles, no leaks lol i guess, 3 out of 4 stereo speakers were blown out, couple nice cracks in the paint he didn't mention, chalk it up to my fault not flying out to inspect it my self but took him at his word i contacted him about the issues he said basicly i'm out of luck sold AS IS , all my problem now so watch out future buyers from these guys take a look at some of the wiring we had to pull out and fix for fan and tach gauge didn't work read more

Who knew I liked cool ass old cars so much?? On a wild hair, the handsome one and I decided we might want to buy a cool ass old car together. Either that or maybe a motorcycle but a cool ass old car is more of a 365 day a year toy and a bike is more of a fair weather toy. Long story short, we found the Classic Car Liquidator website and lo and behold, it was just up the highway in Sherman. Well! We made an appointment and off we went. The cool ass old car we had in mind from the website wasn't the one when we got there. It was a little more of a project than we were looking to take on, so we walked the warehouses and perused the inventory to see what else we may have missed. The warehouses are just like in the photos... clean, well lit, lots of cool ass old cars with prices on them. We looked a bit and then it was like a little light from the heavens shone on the car we decided to buy-- a 1972 Chevelle. The car is in great shape. Our salesguy, Clay, was awesome and honest. He is a no-bullshitter and knowing we wanted something we could tinker with but could be driven off the lot, he said this was a great car. And it IS. We have had it for about a month and we are in love. We've replaced the shocks, radio and speakers, spark plugs, worked on the timing (we being Ben and me being the one looking cute handing him the screwdriver- calling it "the flat one" or "the one that looks like a star" because I've never figured out which is "phillips head"), and now it's running really great. Just a few afternoons of tinkerin' and we got ourselves a great cool ass old car. I haven't been on a trip in it when someone hasn't said something to us or truckers honk and wave or O'Reily Auto Parts fellas drool over it. It's fun. Bought a classic from them recently. Salesman "Robbie" talked me into allowing them to change the braking system from drum to disk for $1000. I accepted and they did such a bad job I almost had a wreck when the brakes locked up after 5 city blocks. Took it to my mechanic and was told they didn't even follow any of the directions, left parts out, and was negligent in their work. The service person that I talked too "Scott" said he test drive the car and I was able to prove him a liar. I asked for my $1000 back and they offered $300. What an insult. If I can save one person from trusting this business and prevent them from buying or selling a vehicle through them then I'm happy to know it cost them more than $1000. If I've helped anyone please continue to post and show them social media is powerful. I'm not a sue happy person even though the mechanic said he would give me an affidavit but I plan on letting everyone know what they did and how they're treating me. read more

I talked to robbie on a truck c 10 he wanted 59000.00 for told him I expect it to be perfect at that price .He said this ones so nice you need to ship in enclosed trsiler.The truck arrives weeks late wont start has to be pushed out of enclosed trailer then stuck in middle of the road wont jump .so finally get it to start but wont stay running.truck has dent in door paint runs on back of cab wire shorting wont keep a charge carberator trouble.radiator clogged.furl line crimped out of fuel pump .His response is im not giving you money back or picking up vehichle.Im in ca wildfires rt now so no time to check on repair cost ect.Or can i sue in Texas for this.But pursuing my options.this dealer has no integrity on a 60.000.00 deal beware.I buy lots of vehicles lots of dealers never a problem or false representing like this from any dealer read more

We recently bought a gorgeous 68 Mustang fastback from Classic Car Liquidators, and I cant say enough good things about the professional and courteous way that these folks treated me during the entire process. Understandably classic cars are by definition old cars ... and they will invariably have issues to some degree or another, as our future Mustang did during our test drive. I had just driven across 6 states to get there and it was now late in the afternoon, but they jumped right on it and had it resolved and ready for me to load up early the next morning. Scott (the service manager type) was incredibly knowledgeable, down to earth and obviously took great pride in the service and products they offer. Our customer sales person was Carson, and he went way above and beyond to assist me in every step of the process, including even calling local U-Haul dealers to help me find one that had a car hauler trailer available for me to pick-up that evening. I definitely recommend you avoid this place at all costs. I was interested in a truck they had listed, and went through the trouble and expense of having it checked out by a local mechanic. The truck had many problems with it, but I was still interested in purchasing it. Unbelievably, Classic Car Liquidators would not budge even ONE DIME off the listed price, even though there were substantial problems with the truck. I guess they figured they had me on the hook because I spent some money on the inspection?? What a joke, and a total waste of time and money. Bought a classic Chevy C10 recently, one-owner and sales guy told me before picking up the truck ALL the headlight, taillights, dash, turn signals & etc. would be checked out and working properly. I trusted his professionalism and however that DID NOT happened. So I sent an email stating the issue his responses was NON professional and lame "check the fuses"...really? In fact the problem as I found was the new license plate light bracket wiring was pinched between the housing and bumper grounding out the hot wire. Meaning the lights NEVER did work!! The hub is a firefighter in California and fell in love with a car advertised on CCL's inventory. The sales people were so helpful to set him up with their finance company and take a non refundable $2000 deposit. After that point it all went downhill quick. We asked repeatedly for a video of the car running and driving as well as documents for the rebuild information. We never got any of that until after we finalized the financing and then it was only a 10 second video of the car running, not driving and no paperwork at all. Fast forward to we get the car out here to California and it quickly became apparent that there wasn't a video of it driving because the gear box was completely shot, rendering the car undrivable. Then we discovered that the repair job was a Frankenstein style mess as whomever previously owned the car started blending parts from all different dodge models. This wouldn't have been a huge deal if we had a paper trail of the work so we could match replacement parts. But then the real hell started. The CA DMV won't register the car because there is no federal identification safety sticker to verify the VIN. Now, we have spent thousands on repair work, DMV appointments, CHP appointments and have still gotten nowhere. The finance company is threatening to repossess the car despite that we have made every payment, but because we can't finalize the registration identifying them as the lien holder through the DMV basically because CCL failed to disclose that the car was missing crucial identifiers. The hub has called them twice since to try and get some assistance to rectify all of this and no call backs have been received. They definitely have some amazing cars in the showroom. Dream car turns into a nightmare!!! I have been wanting a 1968 chevelle sence high school30 years old decide I can afford one. Car looked good in the pictures asked about what was all wrong with it not much was said I also asked to make sure it had the 4 barrel 327 in it and was told yes. after purchase I looked up performance parts for it turns out it has the mild 327 in it. when I was told this I told myself I should back out now! well the 327 has about 325hp the mild 250hp... yeah I feel dumb. but I was assured that it was still a good driving car so I stayed in the deal. 21000 and 1700 for shipping and fees finally 2 weeks later shows up all jacked to start and drive it get in it starts first turn I take knock knock... ball joints were replaced all of them both sides only one still had a rubber boot on it. but couldn't help notice it gush oil. told clay about it and he said he could give me 100 dollars for parts. so washer fluid pump doesn't work. brakes shot master brake cylinder toast lower control arm cracked then welded then cracked again other lower control arm same story. which could cause a very serious accident look it up and more then willing to provide pictures of all this.engine is ticking carburetor leaks gas valve covers leak oil and a lot but they sure mad it clean for the pictures. paint was slapped on now bubbling and cracking starting to flake off head linner ripped and has grease stains gas tank leaks. the only thing I like about this car and was done the way it should of been is the seats dash pad and door panels. oh also whiper switch doesn't work. the fabrication on rear bumber mounts are poor and not professional. shifts like crap linkage all out of whack really have to slam it if u want fourth gear. I fixed what I could with what money I had. the first month and a half I was under that none stop. now I just walk past it because I'm not going to dump more into it when I don't even own it. I under stand that 21000 doesn't get u a show quality car or a drag car for that matter but you shouldn't have to buy this much work for youself and shouldn't leak oil. I will never let my family into this car it is a death trap and clay told me it was sound. now either they know what they are selling and don't care or they are just dumb and don't care either way get a mechanic check it out cause I bought a car I would question buying for 10000. atleast know I can kinda drive it as long as I don't have to stop real fast and the ticking motor wouldn't be to bad if the speakers worked another thing broken. not with a gun to my head would I recommend this place!!! don't know how ill be able to sell this car for my money back with a clear conscious so I'm stuck with it. Classic car liquidators offered to buy my car. While considering their offer, another person offered more and i sold it. I had never signed any paperwork or agreed I would sell them the car. The email I received regarding the potential transaction was from Michael Haltom, and i assume he was the same person who I spoke with over the phone. When I told him I sold the car to another party he turned into a complete psychopath. Threatening phone calls and text messages ensued. The guy is a complete nut. I've bought and sold dozens of vehicles over the years on craigslist, ebay, auto trader, ect. I've run into all kinds of people in these dealings. THIS GUY IS A COMPLETE NUT! BEWARE!!! read more

BEWARE!!! AVOID purchasing a car from this place. If I could give this dealer less than 1 start I would definitely do it. So, I purchased a car for my husband more than 2 years ago from Classic Car Liquidators. Everyone on the phone seemed nice. After we transferred the funds, we received an email from Clay (an employee at Classic Car Liquidators) stating that the car was not ready because they were fixing the power seat and the AC system. Once the car was ready, they emailed a pre-delivery check list where they falsely stated that the AC was working. We had a shipping company pick up the car and we received it 2 days later. The first time we turn on the AC smoke came out from the hood and we had to pull over. We called AAA and had the car towed to an auto shop. Classic Car Liquidators was called and informed of the issue. They asked if we wanted to return the car and we stated we liked the car so they agreed to pay for the repairs. They stated that I needed to send them the receipt of the repairs and they would take care of it because it had the 14 day limited warranty. The auto shop stated that classic car Liquidators never fixed the AC in the first place. I should have checked instead of trusting Classic Car Liquidators. Anyway, once I had the vehicle repaired , I faxed the bill. Then, I received an email stating that Ken Kelley, the owner, refuses to pay for he damages and that at the most they were offering me $500.00. The bill was more than $1600.00. This was an insult not only because they stated they would take care of the all costs but also because they do not abide by their word. Advice if you are still thinking of doing business with this dealer: Make sure to get it in writing because whatever they tell you orally is bull. Also, the 14 day limited warranty does not cover anything that goes wrong with the vehicle. So, then I tried calling Ken Kelley to try to make my case but he was just plain rude. I didn't wan't to deal with it any longer because I was 36 weeks pregnant, so I had my husband deal with this issue. We tried many times settling this issue with Classic Car Liquidators but they were rude and not willing to work with us. read more

I paid CCL $2500 to have an AC/heater unit installed in my 1969 El Camino. It took 2 weeks for them to do this. On the way home, the AC quit and started squealing. I took it back that day and they installed another compressor. That unit went out also. 4 weeks later they put in a 3rd unit. Then they said there was an electrical problem. It took 5 weeks to get a working AC in the truck. When I got home, the heater didn't work, the wipers didn't work, the glove box had been jammed shut, and the coolant was 1.5 gallons low. I was able to fix all the screw ups, but I'll never do business with them nor recommend them to anyone. read more

If you see a car you like make sure a mechanic looks it over. Also check for rust and mismatched parts.
