Without details they cancelled one leg of four of the airfare and my deposit. I immediately called Carol's Travel, who informed me that is the worse thing to do. I called the credit card company and reversed it. We got it all straightened out and am waiting for the trip to be rescheduled. If you deal with a reputable company you have nothing to worry about!

This visitor's center is geared to the National Park. The grounds are beautiful with many native…read moreplants to see. There is a free theater on site that shares dunes history and current facts on a continuous loop. Gift shop is great. You might find National Park logo gear, local distillery non alcoholic merch and a small satellite Fluid Coffee Shop. There are a few park rangers on site to give advice on walking/hiking trails. They are also happy to answer any questions about the Indiana Dunes National Park. The lakeshore has two separate parks - a National Park and a State Park. Each park has a lot of similar attractions and a few different. If you have a yearly National Park Pass, I recommend going to the National Park. If you are an Indiana resident the State Park is a $7 admission per vehicle or $20 for out of state visitors.

But the more fun part is the statue and memorabilia related to Indiana's most famous movie, A Christmas Story. There is a statue of Flick getting his tongue stuck to the flagpole on the flagpole outside of the visitor's center and a display case full of pictures and props on the inside. Definitely an opportunity for pictures here! I highly recommend the Indiana Welcome Center!

If you need to stretch your legs there's a great gift shop bringing you all things from Indiana and also check out the fun graphics/descriptions that line the walls, you'll learn more about Indiana than you imagined. The building itself is neat from the outside--it represents several major industries home to Indiana. Did you know the movie, The Christmas Story is based in a fictional town in Indiana?!?

My review for this Metra station has nothing to do with the commuter aspect of it but for the nerd…read morerail aspect of it. If your a train nerd and want to know about this station, it's a station on the edge of a rail yard that had three types of rail service. There is the diesel Metra trains, the all electric Metra trains and freight trains all running in the area. There is public access from all around the station and platforms with the all electrics stopping across the street in its own little station. You never know what to expect train wise but the Metra trains you can count on and hopefully some freight trains will show up. The Metra police are super gung ho and stopped me with my camera to ask what I was doing and warn you that when you step from pubic space into rail space that you will be arrested on the spot, easy there Barney fife I'm on the side walk and I have no plans to crawl on the tracks because that's stupid and very dangerous. Overall it's it's a busy rail area around the station with a nice amount happening in the station area with plenty of public access so you will not get in any trouble, Barney fife is sneaky because he pounces on you from the fringes pretty quick, I watched him do it to another person while I was there.
