When we purchased our new house, it came with a spa bathtub that was from the 1980s and had a non working motor. As this is the only tub in the house, we wanted to make sure we could get the jets working so that we could properly clean the tub. After working with our go-to contractor and attempting to replace the motor, it became clear that this was not going to be a straight forward fix and was not within scope of our contractor's skillset. We called Classic Spa and Mike was able to come out right away and help us fix the issue. He even got the old motor working again! Mike not only fixed our tub, but he also explained to us novice spa users how it works, how to care for it, and what the limitations are for the way it is currently set up (1980s tech). He ripped us off for $5500, providing only very partial repair (using painted, used material! ) and leaving many things undone. Be aware of "Schafer Pools" or "Shawn Schafer", who may sound knowledgeable and nice but is nothing but a total scam. We have been working with Mike Durrand since we found him online in 2019. We owned a very old hot tub, which he was able to help us keep running. However, when it became apparent that it was "dying", he was very honest with us as opposed to continuing to drive up costs through repairs. I've had an opportunity to work with several companies as it pertains to washers, dryers, refrigerators, plumbing, painting...etc, but never was I in need of a Spa repair person. Where would I start, why not ask YELP. When I came across Classic Spa, I figured they were near by and with an individual having 30 years in the business, that in itself was a sense of success. How many people can say they've been in the same business for 30 years? When I spoke to the owner, not only did he say he could fix it...but he indicated that since my Catalina Spa was only a few years old...it might be under warranty. Wowww who gives honest advice these days? I then call and made an appointment on line and they came out as promised. A young man named "Mike" came on time and tried several ways to fix one of the two pumps and even went so far as to call the manufacture themselves to for some additional support. He replaced the fuse, reset the breaker and tested all areas to ensure power was working. Eventually, he indicated that that the pumps bearing were out and though he gave me a quote, he recommended I try to see if the Executive 56 Waterway was under warranty. he grabbed my phone and took pictures that I may need to share with the manufacture and put everything back the way is was found. Soon thereafter, I called Catalina and they had sold and moved the business from Perris, California to Nashville, Tennessee. After several attempts to reach Catalina's new owners, I decided to buy the pump online for $450. Having to think again, I decided to call Nashville one more time and lo and behold they picked up and in fact told me my spa was under warranty for 16 more days. My purchase date was 9/16/16 and they immediately sent me a new pump! NO CHARGE! On Friday, September 6, my new pump arrived and I scheduled "Mike" to return. I left a message that I would not be home and the pump would be adjacent to the spa. At 10 am, Mike called to tell me the pump had been installed and all was working perfectly. The old pump was left in the box and he even had some pool products to balance out the spa water. I can't thank CLASSICSPA enough for they're professionalism and as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, I consider myself one who doesn't so well with mediocrity. I submitted my request via their website at night, I got a call in the morning, and my service was performed by 9 AM. I had a difficult to troubleshoot issue that resulted in a second visit and Mike came back the following day and remedied the problem. Great customer service, thorough and professional. I gave 2 Stars because I was helped in the beginning and was very grateful to Mike and I believe Lars? When it comes to typical services they have other individuals that do the work which is fine, but when they don't care to contact you after your 1st service when requesting to be let known when the service is finished and if I was to put in the chemicals or not, or just to know what services where provided, was frustrating. Then the 2nd time they came out he took the hidden key then left it on a table (not where it was supposed to go back). This was my personal key and they know I live with 5 people who would take the key if they had the opportunity leaving me with no key. Then I spoke with Mike and he tells me the worker said they never used the key and the door was unlocked. My roommates had no idea where the key was so that is impossible. Then they left me with 2 confusing bills of $125.00 & $95.00 and no total. I requested if this person did not service us anymore. Mike told me his company isn't McDonald's you can't have it your way we will just cancel your services. That's Burger King Mike, lol, but I am sure someone else will accommodate me and not leave a key out for anyone to take since our door was left unlocked. read more

I have a Spa that I bought in 1985 used. It is a large 4-6 person tub that I love. Unfortunately, over the years the mechanics fell into disrepair and although the fiberglass tub and jets were fine, it went unused for over a year. I priced replacement spas of that size and they were running $8,000 to $11,000 dollars. That's when I called Michael at Classic Spa Service. I made an appointment for him to see if my spa was even repairable. He showed up right on time and I was impressed with his knowledge of my spa which to that time I had no information on. He knew who manufactured it, where, and when. He gave me an unbelievable deal to replace all the old pneumatic controls with digital and replace the control unit, motor, pump, heater, and filter with new state of the art systems. Mike just saved me close to $1000 on repair that was quoted by Don Baker Spa who had told me I needed a new heater for my spa. Instead, I paid Classic Spa/Mike his minimal diagnosis fees ($110 in 2015) and he fixed it in 10 minutes!. He walked me through with the equipment to show everything, and how things are working fine - and showed me how to reset the system. What DB Spa did to trick me was unethical and criminal, but I am glad to run into Classic Spa who restores trust in local business ethics. Mike showed me how to reboot the heater (which was not in the manual). He also helped me understand how to take care of the spa more easily, and fixed the diverter that was starting to leak, and told me in plain language why that was happening and what needed to be done - and fixed it. Mike will be the first one to tell you: there is no one else in the business who knows as much about spa repair as he does. Well, after dealing with at least half a dozen other techs before finding him on Yelp, I can tell you with great confidence that he is absolutely right! We've been having trouble with our CalSpas swim spa for as long as we've owned it. Never been able to figure out how to make it work for more than a month or two. Within minutes (seconds, actually) Mike figured out our first issue and told me to test it out for a while to see if there were any underlying problems.
