I've been a loyal customer of Classic Tailoring for over 11 years, but unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I will not be returning. My oldest daughter and I brought in two dresses for my daughters' out-of-state wedding to be altered, paying over $300 upfront. When I picked them up as scheduled and tried them on at home, both dresses had noticeable flaws. While I've experienced occasional minor issues in the past they were quickly corrected without any trouble, this time was very different. When we returned the same day to address the mistakes, instead of taking responsibility or offering to make it right, the owner, Bernardo, deflected blame pointing to the fabric, the manufacturer, or even claiming I hadn't allowed enough time, despite following the timeline his staff gave me. At no point did he apologize or ask how he could fix the issue. Instead, he became defensive and dismissive, even sarcastically asking if I knew how to sew and suggesting I should have done the alterations myself. With only days before we were flying out for the wedding, I had no choice but to let them attempt to correct the mistakes. When I picked up the dresses again today, I was met with more condescension and poor customer service. The alterations were still subpar the seams don't align, and there is puckering along the waistline that wasn't present before. I'm deeply disappointed, not only in the quality of the work but in the lack of professionalism and accountability. Tailoring is a paid service, not a favor. read more

They ruined my dress. Tailored the wrong sleeve. I was to wear tonight. Gal hung up on me. I was going to bring more stuff. They ruined the dress and ruined my night for tonight. I never ever had this happen. They did wrong side. Not only did they do a terrible job and wrong side of the shoulder on closer inspection they simply removed the padding on the sleeve and threw it away rather than see it back in. I'm taking them to court. These are terrible terrible tailors. The man didn't even pay attention. I said one side leave the other alone. She hung up on me. Great customer service. You r been worn. My boyfriend referred me to this place, because i ordered a bunch of stuff online for a weekend event we are attending and what i ordered was far too large, but i didn't have enough time to order smaller sizes and have them be delivered in time, so i brought them all to Classic Tailoring (along with a bunch of other clothes that needed repair)... and quickly, before our trip. I brought them in on a Monday evening and they had them ready for pickup Thursday morning! They were able to do a rush on my clothes to get them done in time, and Claudia did a FANTASTIC job and even stayed late one day to make sure they'd be done in time --the woman needs a raise, she's amazing! The owner Bernardo was also very kind and helpful! Def not the cheapest place to go but if you're looking for quality and efficient tailoring, this place is it! I had a guitar strap that needed some cross stitches to make the holes tighter so the guitar strap wouldn't fall off. I brought it in and left it on Tuesday and he said it would be ready Friday-I went in on Monday to pick it up. (The last owner had done one on the spot for free, so I didn't bother to ask how what it would cost---bad mistake) As I examined it, it seemed fine. (see photo) Then...I asked for the price. He said $18.00. I replied Really? And then I said, This couldn't have taken 3 minutes, to which he said---Even if it took one minute the price would be the same. I brought a pair of new pants and took it to Classic Tailoring where my daughters always go to tailor their clothes. I dropped it off on Thursday and had to pay an expedite fee to pick it up the next day (my daughters have never needed to pay an expedite fee just fyi)... When I picked up the pants on Friday, there were white bleach stains on the hemming of the pants and they weren't sewn properly. It was an extremely messy sew job. I pointed out the bleach stains and the sew job and the man told me to come back in 30 min so he could fix. After I came back, the pants were shorter in length, each side was uneven, and the bleach stain was still there, but it looked like he shortened the pants another 3/4 inch to tuck the stain inside the pants so I couldn't see it. Again, super messy sew job with no accountability. I asked him about the hem & the stain as this was extremely unacceptable. It's brand new pants and no accountability was taken or compensation for what had happened. There was another customer there as I was asking him about the pants and the sew job- he yelled at me and then forced me to leave. It was extremely rude in front of another customer. My daughters use this tailor, we go there all the time. The father who owns this place was always good at taking accountability and fixing if something was done incorrectly. I feel scammed & He should be reported. My pants are ruined because of his sew job, I was asked to leave when I confronted him about it, and on top of it he kicked me out in front of another customer. No accountability & the worst customer service. I am disputing my payment for the tailoring with my AMEX, and I'm filing a report in which he needs to reimburse my pants because he ruined them. read more

Best tailor around. I drive from Los Angeles to get my suits custom tailored here, and my wife goes here for all of her evening gowns and other tailoring needs. Claudia is a gifted seamstress. He charged me an exorbitant amount of money for what he did and then proceeded to tell me when I picked it up that he was doing me a favor and he should've charged me double because he was so busy. So unprofessional and entitled. Would NEVER use them again Update.... The manager responded to my comment and i want to be clear that he did NOT do me any favors. He had 9 days to replace the zipper and cut 4 inches of tulle off the bottom of the dress. He charged me $150 He also stated when I picked up the dress that he should of charged me more and that he did me a favor in even taking my daughters dress. Two weeks ago I dropped off two lightweight jackets for simple tailoring. The cost was exorbitant to alter the sleeves. Their policy requires prepayment with a 3.5% premium if a credit card is used. I paid $133 via visa to Sanchez Tailoring on sept 25th with an agreement to pick up the jackets on Friday Oct 6th. I went to pick up at 1:30pm Friday and the work was not completed. They have my jackets, $133 payment with 3.5% adder and I have nothing. When I complained I was told "not my job" talk to the owner. I asked to speak with the owner only to be told he was not there. I will never use this tailor again. When I return I expect a discount for their breach of contract, my time, and gasoline to make a 2nd trip. Stay away! read more

Have gone here a couple times when i've been in a pinch but won't be back. It's overpriced for the work done & they botched one of my dresses really bad(shorter in the back then in the front) and can't wear it anymore. Customer service was pretty much non existent. I went to go try my daughters baptism dress on her for this Saturday and realized the dress was pretty small in the neck and the bonnet wouldn't even fit on her head. This set was worn by my whole family since my grandma for all of our baptisms so it means a lot that she gets to wear them too. The tailor was able to make the beanie 3 inches bigger and add a custom ribbon tie to the back of the dress so we can tie it as tight or as loose as we need to around the neck. I've used Vartan to customize and tailor all of my suits. These are not your standard suits. These are Zegna Silk Suits with a retail range of $5000-8000.00 a piece. Ive also had my Kiton Cashmere suits, costing about $10000 a piece done here as well. The service and results are impeccable. The prices are fair and they can have it done within a couple days or a couple weeks. Call them now for the real deal. The staff here is sweet and kind and there is no better tailor in Newport Beach or in Orange County. They also do shirts and pants. read more

Worst Business Owner!!! So sad! This man stole my $3000 coat. I was in NY and had a child and wasn't able to pick up the coat. I went by to pick it up and he told he would call me. He never did. I called him and asked him about it. He told me that he gave my fur jacket away to poor people!!! Sent it away.. I can't believe that someone can just steal from you that way. The new owner is very rude and have no manors , he charged me $350 to tailor my $3000 cashmere jacket, he asked for the money up front which was unusual and alerting, after 45 days i picked up the jacked and when i try to wear it i noticed that one side is larger than the other, so when i button the jacket it is not centered on my shirt, it is off by 1 inch, i went back to show it to him and give him a chance to fix it but he refused , he yelled at me and denied any responsibility, i was insulted and dint want make a seen. this guy should not be in this business, he is a thief and unprofessional. read more

Having just moved here from LA I was excited to find a tailor near Fashion Island that I could try out and start a working relationship with. I called this morning to ask if they do same day service, the man said yes come on down. I was quoted $25 to do a hem which was fine. I just picked up the dress and never in my life have I been so disrespected. He changed the the price to $30 and I asked why, he then shouts at me "You dont know anything about tailoring, we did you a favor", not explaining why he added $5, which I was fine to pay if he could explain it. I highly recommend Classic Tailoring. I now live in Long Beach, but continue to drive to the OC to have alterations made here. Not only can they repair hems, they can repair moth holes in cashmere sweaters. They are true tailors. I have taken in luxury items owned by my mother (size 10-12) , and have had them re-sized to fit me (size 4-6). They make custom suits for men. They have re-lined Chanel jackets for me. I will NEVER go to this tailor again. Very UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE! I honestly have never been treated by any vendor in this manner in Newport Beach or ANYWHERE else in the world. Work is average and they charge too much. After picking up my fur coat and noticing stains on the side and questioning the tailor. Vartan, the owner was on the phone with another customer yelling, "IT WASN'T ME! IT WASN'T ME!" I originally ignored him because I though he was yelling at someone on the phone but the realized he was yelling at me!!! I was very calm throughout his ranting rage and told him he needed to be respectful and apologize but instead he yelled," I AM SORRY...FOR YOU!" Owner has anger issues and needs to seek help! Ever since Vartan left, this place has totally changed! I used to trust Vartan with my designer clothes. He used to fix my clothes that Armani's taylor had botched. He could trust him with anything. And he was super nice. I have been going there for over 14 years. But since the new owner took over, it has been pretty rude service, and the prices have been jacked way up. And the work is sloppy. As ex: For fairly easy hems on 3 shirts, with no rush, he charged me over $100 and rushed me out the door. When I picked them up, I found out they were only half done. 2 of the shirts had uneven hems too. I took them and and asked him to finish, he got very angry. We found out he took bad notes from the last conversation (because he rushed me out). So he finished the hems and charged me another $50 for his bad note taking. Of course he blame on me and insisted I wanted it that way. I would have known what I want!!!. I paid anyway and did not say anything. Because that was the last time I used his services. read more
