The bridal boutique ordered my wedding dress two sizes too big, and I came to Rita asking if she could somehow make it look like the smaller sample I'd tried on. She could have charged me thousands (as other tailors quoted) to rebuild it, but instead she gave me honest advice and pushed me to advocate for the right size. Rita made the impossible, POSSIBLE! 4 days before my wedding, I tried my dress on and realized I had lost a few pounds. My dress was so big on me and I did not feel happy. Took a wedding dress here that was too small and needed to be enlarged. She insisted I put a corset on the back to enlarged the dress and that there was no other options. Was very difficult to work with and told us no when we suggested other ideas to make it bigger, she us feel like we had no options so we said yes to a corset. She charged us a 100% upfront and we paid $1,300 that we will never get back. The corset she added was huge and looked really odd, and after several appointments things kept getting worse. I ended up taking the dress to another seamstress and they said she handled the fabric wrong and built many things incorrectly. They also said we never had to add a corset and could have easily added a simple panel instead. Overall I felt scammed and this added a huge amount of stress to my wedding planning. When I expressed my concerns with her she said it was my fault for having too small of a dress. Definitely felt like she didn't care about how I looked and felt in the dress on my wedding day. read more

I hate to write a review like this because Rita was nice, but I had a very stressful experience with my satin silk wedding dress here. I'm not sure if it was because I did not buy a dress at the White Dress (she mentioned this several times and suggested I get a second dress there) or because of the fabric of my dress (apparently silk is notoriously difficult to work with). She made my dress much tighter than I wanted and we decided during fittings. It was so tight, I could not bend over or sit down. Silk dresses are meant to look relaxed and not skin-tight. I came back and asked her to let it out and fix it, and she let out two inches in the hip/thigh area. However, it still didn't fit quite right - it was too loose in the bust and low back, but tight in the thighs. She told me she couldn't do anything with the bust because of how it was made, and she said I looked great and should be happy with it. She had been working on my dress for 6 weeks, and my wedding was a week away. I left feeling like I was asking for too much to want my dress to fit perfectly. I took it to another alteration shop the week of my wedding. We, unfortunately, found that there were many dirty fingerprints and seam marks from Rita's work that can never be fixed. And the seam down the side was still a bit messy. But, the other alteration shop was able to make the exact changes I wanted to the bust, straps, and hips on the same day! Overall, I did not get the experience every bride hopes for during alterations - someone to treat your dress delicately, listen to exactly how you'd like it to fit, and patiently work with you to help it fit that way. I can't even begin to explain the professionalism and top notch work that Rita does! She is a superb Taylor with an expertise for Galia Lahav dresses and other designer gowns. I live in San Diego so she was the closest tailor that's experienced in Galia Lahav dresses which by the way was a recommendation from the actual GL store and several stores. I brought my COUTURE dress in and we did a fitting and she explained every detail and recommendations for my dress. My dress had extensive beadwork and a beaded mesh back. This dress took months to make in Israel. I had lost a lot of weight and it unfortunately hung on me like a tapestry. But with Rita's help she explained what needed to be done and she even asked me if any of her recommendations were okay with me. Honestly, I was really afraid that my dress would get butchered, the delicate beading and lace is so fragile I didn't even want anyone to touch it....She made sure that she did what I wanted and showed me the areas that needed altering. My dress had a very delicate illusion mesh back which you could see the ripples from it being too big when tried on. It did need to get taken in on the sides a bit and cups added. I was quite nervous because the gown is so expensive and took months to make. I went in a couple times. First time is the actual fitting where they pin you, second she took it in and you try on the dress. Third, she completed the gown along with my train and I was able to take it home. I am relatively flat chested and she was able to bring my cup size about 1.5 sizes bigger without it looking unnatural. The original cup size I believe was a C but the added cups helped bring the dress up. The side seams look like it hadn't been re-stitched. She redid the back illusion mesh and restored it to its original without having any rippling in the back making it look seamless. Truly remarkable! I also have to say that out of all the fittings I had (because I have more than one dress) she was a delight to meet with and so very kind and professional! She really does take the time with you to ensure your dress is perfection. I had a different experience at a different tailor and it was horrible. They tend to be overbooked and I highly recommend getting your dress tailored early and booking those sessions right away. I recommend Rita for all new brides!! She truly is the best! read more

First the dress...not only was my dress super unique but I am also VERY particular.
