Before the haircut, I clearly explained that I had just gotten my hair cut at another salon two…read moredays earlier and that I wasn't looking for a completely new haircut--I only wanted some adjustments to achieve the style shown in the photos of me before. I specifically asked if the stylist understood the issue and knew what needed to be done, and I was assured that they did. Unfortunately, once the haircut started, there was no communication about how much hair would be removed. The very first cut on the sides was much shorter than I expected, and at that point there was no way to undo it. If the stylist had explained their approach or confirmed the length with me first, I would have had the opportunity to say that it wasn't what I wanted. What disappointed me most wasn't just the final result--it was the lack of communication. When a customer brings reference photos and asks questions beforehand, I expect the stylist to explain the plan and make sure we're aligned before making irreversible changes. I left feeling that my concerns and the reference photos were not really taken into account. I hope the salon can improve communication with customers in the future so others don't have the same experience.

Let me tell you that this place was the MOST I've ever paid for hair coloring and balayage in my life and I've gone to Master hair colorists at luxury salons in the bay area too. Did the prices for hair products increase with Trump too??!? Sheesh. They were nice, talked me through the right shade for the balayage according to my skin tone and then she proceeded to take out a calculator to show me the cost. I was pretty shocked to see the cost, but I already made arrangements to get my hair colored that day so I begrudgingly agreed to proceed. Maybe I should have negotiated or asked if that total included tip? My hair is medium length and layered and the ash blonde/brown came out really nice, but I am still kicking myself for paying this much. I would have expected a nice head massage, complimentary tea or something for paying this much with a balayage, but it was a professional balayage with basic service/experience.

Her haircut was $80, and because her hair is curly, I was charged an additional $65 just for the blow-dry, bringing her total to $145 for a child's haircut and blow-dry. My own haircut and blowout were $100, so I was especially surprised that my daughter's service ended up costing $45 more than mine. I understand that curly hair may require additional time, but I feel that a $65 additional charge should have been clearly communicated beforehand, especially when it brings an 11-year-old's haircut to nearly $150. The salon explained the pricing to me afterward, but I really wish the full cost had been explained before the service was performed. Parents should definitely ask for the complete price, including the blow-dry, before agreeing to the service so there are no surprises at checkout. Unfortunately, because of the pricing and lack of upfront communication about the additional charge, I cannot see myself returning to this salon.
