It's exciting to see one of my go to places continue to improve and genuinely care about the client experience. There are several things that stood out to me. The overall experience has a lot going for it, and the value becomes even more attractive when you consider the convenience. Parking on weekdays is also a nice benefit, since you do not have to pay for parking during the week. What I especially appreciate is the attention being given to training, particularly for the front of house staff and reception team. The receptionist and front of house experience can really set the tone for the entire visit. Clients should feel welcomed, acknowledged, and taken care of from the moment they arrive. The improvements in service and attention to the client experience are noticeable. It's always great to see a place you already enjoy investing in its people and raising its standards rather than simply relying on its existing reputation. I scheduled three pedicures and one gel manicure to all happen at the same time: a gel mani, a spa pedicure, and a kids pedicure for my mom, my niece, and me so we could enjoy a little girls' day before a big trip. When I called to book, they were incredibly accommodating and let me know that my requested date would work perfectly since they had multiple nail technicians available. My mom had Tracy, who was absolutely wonderful. She gave my mom such a relaxing experience and noticed how tired she was. Since my mom has rheumatoid arthritis, Tracy gave her a gentle but firm massage that ended up being the highlight of her visit. My niece had Sydney, who was so kind and made her feel completely comfortable. She chatted with her throughout the appointment and encouraged her to speak up if she wanted anything adjusted. In the end, my niece's nails turned out exactly how she had imagined, the perfect mermaid color! I had Daniella, who was incredibly meticulous with both my gel manicure and pedicure. She paid great attention to every detail, and I couldn't be happier with the results. What really impressed me was how well the team coordinated everything. Since my gel manicure and pedicure took the longest, they timed my manicure perfectly so it was done while my mom and niece's pedicures were drying. We all ended up finishing our appointments at the exact same time, which made our girls' day so seamless and enjoyable. It may seem like a small detail, but it made a huge difference and showed how thoughtful and organized the staff is. Everyone on the team was genuinely sweet and checked in on us throughout our appointments to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. My mom and I visited this salon for haircuts with Diego and Yvonne. There was initially some confusion regarding our appointments because Diego was not available for my scheduled time. However, Yvonne quickly resolved the issue and ensured that I was able to start my appointment with Diego on time. I appreciated her efforts to accommodate the scheduling mix-up. Diego provided excellent service. I truly appreciated his professionalism and attention to detail. Unfortunately, my mom's experience with Yvonne was far from pleasant. During the consultation, Yvonne repeatedly tried to upsell highlight services while advising my mom on how she should color her hair. My mom respectfully declined, but the recommendation continued to be pushed. After my mom's dry haircut, Yvonne's assistant washed her hair but accidentally soaked the entire back of her shirt. The assistant appeared to be very new, but it added to an already uncomfortable experience. Things became more frustrating from there. It seemed that Yvonne was trying to manage the earlier scheduling conflict and stepped away to finish another client's service, leaving my mom sitting in the chair for approximately 15 minutes without any explanation or communication. A simple update would have gone a long way. As Yvonne resumed cutting my mom's hair, her assistant was shadowing her and asked Yvonne if she could record the process. Yvonne agreed. However, when the assistant brought out the phone to record, my mom immediately declined to be filmed. The assistant respected her decision and left the phone on the caddy. But Yvonne brought the phone to the front desk receptionist, Sadine (unsure of the spelling), seemingly signaling her to record the salon. Sadine then approached us and began recording without asking for our permission. I immediately declined to be recorded when she came up with the phone in my face saying "Hi". She stated that the video was for Instagram and asked, "You don't want to be on Instagram?" After I declined a second time, she asked if she could at least record the back of our hair for marketing purposes. I agreed only to having the back of my hair recorded. My mom, however, did not consent. Because the salon is surrounded by mirrors, our reflections could still easily be captured in the recording. Regardless of whether we were filmed directly, it made us feel that our boundaries were not being respected and that obtaining social media content had taken priority over honoring a customer's right to decline. After our services were completed and we had paid, my mom and I agreed that we did not want ANY photos or videos of us used for the salon's social media or marketing, including the back of my hair. As I was leaving, I asked Sadine once again to delete the video because we did not consent to being featured on Instagram. Rather than acknowledging our request or a simple apology, she kept repeating with an attitude, "Don't worry, don't worry." I completely understand that salons rely on photos and videos to showcase their work and attract clients. However, respecting a customer's privacy and consent should never be ignored especially when it comes to social media marketing. No customer should have to decline multiple times regarding their privacy. I cannot honestly say this was a $125 haircut experience. I chose this salon because of its outstanding reviews. Unfortunately, my mom's experience left us feeling disrespected. Ignoring a customer's privacy and continuing to push for content after they have clearly declined is unprofessional and unacceptable. To be clear, we are not interested in having our hair "fixed" or receiving compensation. What we expected was basic respect for our time, our privacy, and our clearly stated boundaries. Because of this experience, we will not be returning, nor will we be recommending this salon to others. read more

I went here for a simple trim and to get my bangs/hair framing cut. I booked with Yvonne but she was busy so I ended up with Philip. Yvonne told him multiple times that I wanted hair framing on the sides of my face and even sectioned it out for him, he nodded like someone who wasn't listening (he didn't trim my hair framing pieces at all). I also wanted my bangs just under my eyebrows and even showed him a picture. My bangs are above my eyebrows and there's been multiple pieces hanging in my eyes that I've had to cut myself. The manger reached out to me due to my previous review. I made an appointment for a pedicure with Tracy at 10am when they opened but ended up with Toya. She started at 10:15 and luckily I didn't have plans after because I would've been late. I was told Toya has years of experience as a nail tech and it showed! The scrub and leg massage was amazing, cuticle care was gentle, and most importantly, the water temperature wasn't too hot during the soak! I would like to say how much I appreciate Diego, who cut my 2year old daughter's hair, and another stylist who worked with my 8year old and gave her layers with bangs. They both made sure I was comfortable with the haircuts and did a great job making my daughters feel at ease during the entire session. But she also had a great idea to put only half of them back in. But Jenny was able to not only fix my natural hair today but reassess what my hair could actually handle for extensions without causing any more damage. I recently had my hair done at Y Salon in San Mateo, and Sayo did an amazing job. She is new to the field, but you would never know it as she did a wonderful job coloring and cutting my hair. She clearly has a lot of talent and a very bright future in hair coloring and styling. One of the best parts of the experience was seeing how supportive the salon environment is. Other stylists checked in with her, guided her when needed, and made sure everything was done correctly which it absolutely was. It was very reassuring to see such strong teamwork. UPDATE: The salon has since apologized and refunded the difference between what I paid and what I booked online. Came here to treat my mom to a head spa for her birthday. We'd been here once before and found the prices to be reasonable. The employees were all super friendly, the salon was busy (always a good sign), and the interior itself was cute, so we immediately knew we'd come back. This time around, I booked my mom a head spa appointment, while I booked a 45-minute Swedish massage for myself. It was $65 for the message, which again was super reasonable. Tracy did my massage, she applied the perfect amount of pressure and was very kind throughout the session! Oanh helped my mom with her head spa, and she raved about it afterwards! Everything went smoothly until it came time to pay. When I booked the appointments, the listed price on the booking link for the headspa was $49. Even on my email confirmation, it confirmed the price of $49 (see photo attached). Yet when paying at the counter, I was told the price was $85. I inquired why the total was so much higher than what I booked. They informed me they had been running a promotion, but it was only for April, and since it was May 2nd, it wouldn't apply. This wasn't written anywhere on the website, and my email confirmation was dated for May 2nd with the $49 price. Seemed a bit like false advertising and very sketchy that they're not being transparent about their promotions. They should have made it very clear the promotion was for April only, and honored the price we booked at. Bummed because we thought we had found a salon to become regulars at, but we're unsure about making future appointments if we can't trust the pricing when booking. read more
