I began by looking for a catering service that was generally organic, farm to table concepts ~ which is what The Kitchen Porch is all about ! Over several weeks of planning done through emails and phone calls I was pleased to work out details for our event with wonderful suggestions from Jan as the owner, directly. The hardest part became making a selection from all the delectable options available. I found it easy to work with them to accommodate our needs based on budget and what fit the occasion. She was able to modify the menu in any way that would be needed such as to balance elderly guests, mixed with younger guests, vegetarians as well as meat eaters, as well as deliveries, set-up and all the details involved along the way. When the day of the event arrived, we found everything went seamlessly, the staff had everything set up in a beautiful presentation, with the food delivered throughout the reception in a well balanced manner, every time a new tray was presented there was a new delightful tasty nibble offered, every bit as yummy as the last. The balance of food was perfect, we did not run out of anything, and everyone found something they liked. We were not left with a "heavy" food "overload" feeling, but with light fresh foods, and refreshing drinks which included cucumber mint flavored water and a light fruit punch. I contacted several caterers for a small gathering, but one thing let me know this catering company was THE ONE: When I called to get a quote, the owner - on his own accord - physically visited the site to get the lay of the land before I even signed the contract. He stayed in contact with me throughout the ENTIRE process and handled every curve ball with a smile. To boot, the services were reasonably priced. We began with the goal of having a clam bake. Then, I considered the fact some people might be allergic to shell fish. Little Rock allowed me to have a hybrid menu to appease all my guests. They came from far and wide, from Memphis to India to China to Chicago and New York. I knew I had a tough crowd that has eaten at some of the best restaurants across the globe. Our experience with Little Rock was absolutely PERFECT, from my first phone call to the last morsel I put in my mouth. The first course was clam chowder. Really?! Despite all the great seafood options on the island, poke bowls are not a common site, so we were excited to try one! We ordered the Chef's Bowl and allowed the chef to create a masterpiece for us. Our poke bowl was a large size and included tuna, cucumbers, carrots, green onions, sesame seeds, and I'm guessing the spicy mayo/house sauce over a warm bed of rice. The fish was very fresh and the combination of toppings and sauces on the sushi rice was delicious! We found out the owner/chef is from LA, which makes sense since CA (aside from Hawaii) is practically the poke bowl state. He was very friendly and our bowl came out fast. My only qualm is the portion size was relatively small and the prices are above average. The prices were on par with all the other food at the brewery though and it was one of the most unique offerings!
