A standup spot for breakfast and I've heard great things about lunch. The place is cute inside - basic but still has good vibes. Parking lot is a bit of a shit show since it's usually crowded. The fried egg sandwich at $12ish, while expensive was large and delicious. Freshly made eggs, bacon and American cheese on an English muffin. The coffee was strong. And while it was crowded everything came out quick. Overall, a great option for a casual yet delicious coffee shop style breakfast and/or lunch. read more

Good coffee. No matcha. Delicious smoothie. Perfect breakfast sandwiches. We came during a brunch time rush but the line moved quickly. Seating was full but we waited until a table opened up. Coffee was okay. I will search for better coffee. Food was on point!! Croissant with egg, cheese, and bacon was a hit! The 45 breakfast sandwich; eggs and bacon on sourdough. Yum! Breakfast burrito with eggs, chorizo and potatoes was very filling. The place had Cholula and sriracha!! That's a sign of a winner for me! Updating my review -- I visited this cafe twice on my latest trip to Nantucket... the first visit wasn't perfect, but I added additional shots of espresso to my latte and it worked like a charm! The large ended up having a good balance of flavor with a third espresso shot added in. It's kind of an overwhelming amount of caffeine to intake just to achieve the balanced taste, and I think it was about $10 for this one drink, but the flavor was great! This is probably the only time you'll hear this Angeleno say "the Brady" was AWESOME. This turkey sandwich comes with herbed aioli and greens. The bread has a great texture and is fluffy. ICED LATTE and HOT LATTE are good and they use the beans from a local roaster, Nantucket Roastery. The STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE was filling and refreshing. There is no line to order because the cashier is fast. There's a full staff behind tue counter so you don't have to wait for your food and drinks too long. This is an excellent bakery we've been to every year since it opened. This review is for this year only. We tried once in the low season and again in the very busy season around Fourth of July this year. Staff were clearly a little bit overwhelmed during the busy season, but of course, that's not their fault. You order from the left and middle lines, pick up from the far right. At first, we chalked it up to island humidity, but croissants are consistently more bready than a proper French croissant, more like Italian cornetti, but quite enjoyable in their own right. (We've tried all of them numerous times: plain, chocolate, and ham and cheese, and almond -- wonderfully filled with marzipan!) Muffins have in our experience been well made with high quality ingredients, e.g. good butter. Coffee is very lightly roasted, enjoyable for those who enjoy that style. (I like it a touch more roasted, but that's just me.) There's a good amount of seating indoors and out, but given the cafe's popularity, be aware that tables go fast. From prior experience, custom made cakes are just lovely. And dinner is now on offer. (We haven't yet tried.) It's very difficult to turn in and out of the parking lot in the high season. I've been here a few times now and their food, coffee, and pastries are really good. The chocolate chip cookies, chicken ranch wrap, and all of the smoothies are in particular amazing. Probably the best place I've found for smoothies although they are on the sweet side. The only things I didn't care for were the blueberry muffin (too salty) and the BEC on a croissant (too greasy and WAY too much egg). But I will be looking forward to trying more things. Update: I Just learned the fly issue was due to a construction project happening. Hopefully you will experience a fly free café on your visit which would have improved my impression. We were able to walk to visit each morning and enjoyed some of the different breakfast items. Nothing was outstanding but everything was good. We enjoyed the smoothies, croissants and burritos. We did really enjoy the carrot bread and would recommend that over most other things we purchased. Coffee was ok but that is personal preference. Interior is clean and bright but the number of flies inside is so concerning and off putting. Its hard to enjoy a meal. Hope they can figure out how to keep the flies outside. The other morning, I got their breakfast burrito and it was so delicious. I have been a long time patron of the cafe and one of their strongest suits is either if you get a burrito for breakfast or one of their pizzas for lunch, they not only know how to cook their food, obviously, but you can tell the difference with the quality of the ingredients they use. Unfortunately, there are too many places on Nantucket that'll assume that since it's Nantucket, you have a " captive audience ", you can just put it together any old way without caring and can charge whatever they want. I really like the breakfast burrito that 45 puts out. It's got everything I like for breakfast all cooked to perfection and wrapped up nicely. I can only eat half and I save the other for the next day. The pastry is hit or miss that's why only 4 stars the cinnamon buns are really good coffee cake was pretty dry. My wife and daughter really like the coffee as well. The staff is very friendly and the establishment is really clean and well kept. Plenty of off street parking close to wave bus stop so if your in the mood for a great snack jump off at the muse stop on surfside and you are there. read more

I am not the type of person who takes the time to review things, but the pastries here are too good for people to not know about. This morning I purchased some muffins, croissants, chocolate croissants, and a cinnamon bun for an office I was visiting. I only tasted the chocolate croissant and it was as good as ones I've picked up in Paris. This prices were also amazing. I was expecting to pay a lot more for everything and was pleasantly surprised. This beautiful, spacious bakery is run by equally beautiful women. Rebecca and her daughter Portia serve up the best cakes in town, excellent carrot cake, coffee cake, delicious sandwiches and a darn good cup of coffee. They serve lots of other great things, too--these are just the ones I've tried. The ambiance will lure you to sit and stay awhile. Wonderful sandwiches and pastries but coffee is simply terrible, mainly because baristas don't know what they are doing and make it so hot that it turns bitter and undrinkable. The absolute best breakfast food on the island (for what they serve). It's cafeteria style - order at front to go or eat in at tables with silverware and plates. This is my Friday morning coffee treat to myself every week. I love it so much. I highly recommend the latte, it is perfection hot or iced! We got a cake from 45 Surfside for my parent's 50th anniversary. Wowzer. First, it was beautifully decorated but more importantly it was the most delicious cake I've ever had. I don't have a sweet tooth but I've had my share of cakes in life and this is hands down the best. We got the Strawberry Grand Marnier and the cake was so light, the filling perfectly sweet, and there was just enough decadent chocolate to feel special but not excessive. My waistline is grateful, but I'm so sad that we're off island and I can't spend the rest of this summer trying every other cake in the menu. Can't believe this place doesn't have more reviews! It's a little gem. While the baked goods looked fantastic we stopped here for lunch while tooling around the island. It's a relatively new business which is bright and clean with lots of parking. We had sandwiches that came with super crunchy homemade chips. The food was made fresh and done well. The flavor combos for the sandwiches are a bit different but terrific; sweet potatoes on grilled cheese? As odd as it sounds it works well.
