My wife and I just had our first dinner there since the original owners bought it back, remodeled and reopened the restaurant. So we had no expectations. We were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant was clean and well decorated with what looked like new tables and fresh paint. The menu is comprehensive American family fare, which in Florence is refreshing. We live here and there really isn't any other place that tours itself as family friendly. My wife ordered a smashed cheeseburger with onion rings. I ordered a patty melt with the included fries. Both orders exceeded our expectations. The patty melt was one of the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked, with cheese, caramelized onions and marble rye bread. Perfect. The fries were double fried so soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside. My wife's burger was also excellent. Both our burgers had fresh hamburger with great flavor. Definitely not from frozen patties. She's very picky with burgers and really liked it. Her onion rings were also exceptional. Not too greasy and also tasted freshly prepared. You take a bite and you don't get the entire onion piece sliding out of the breading. Last the servers were awesome, friendly, polite, and very positive. You could tell they were making a great effort to ensure patrons were happy with their meals and experience. Overall, 5 out of 5. Well just went for the fisrt time. We had about 5 flys around our booth. At first I didn't thnik much but after shoo them away. I see the back door going into the food storage and Kitchen wide open. Great family style place my daughter's favorite spot to get breakfast together service is beyond 85% of the time ive never had an issue with my food but if I did they would fix it without question and I always appreciate that the resturant isnt super silent so you dont have to worry so much about the kids being a little loud nice family style vibes with great decorations to make the coast feel a little more like home. The cheese curds were good. The burger was super greasy and underwhelming, but not terrible. The fries are crispy, but bland. The chicken tenders are possibly worse than the ones that come in a tv dinner. The service was great- wouldn't change a thing there. She took a soda off (I didn't ask for anything, just expressed that the chicken strips weren't great) to make up for the little disappointment. It's nice sitting outside and there was a cute little family of baby birds in a nest near our table that offered some free entertainment. I have been here many times and I would usually recommend to friends and family when visiting. Tonight was a different story. The portion sizes are tiny, definitely not worth the price tag. For the nicely framed American flag. No curtains. All hard surfaces. Very loud as diners chatted and sound bounced off hard floors, walls, pictures... absolutely no piece of fabric in the whole room. The place is split into two rooms, we were on the left side. We started out on the right side but it was so loud with a woman at the next table that we moved. Either side is very loud. Wait time. 0 stars. Incredibly long wait. Food. 0 stars. Piss poor quality frozen and/or boxed food heated and plated. Eggs from a carton, from the looks of it. Bread products of the lowest grade. Hash browns frozen, heated. Bacon low quality. Coffee, low grade. Thanks. 20 bucks down the drain and we immediately felt ill shortly after. And hungry. Food was really good! We got a captains platter and 2 kids meals. I loved how the kids meal burgers seemed like good meat and the shrimp on the platter was coconut shrimp. Yum! Only kind of weird thing is there was a $2 convenience fee and I have no idea why. I feel like if a restaurant is going to do that they should specify why. Our family of 4 was in Florence for the weekend looking for a place to eat lunch. We knew downtown would be packed and the place we wanted to try was closed. We stumbled on this place as we were driving around and gave it a try. The staff was friendly and the service was great! We loved that we were supporting a small business who treated their customers well. The food is very reasonably priced, which was a welcome sight after getting less for our value at other places. My kids and I had breakfast while my wife had fish n chips. The portions were appropriate and we felt like we got our money's worth in those terms. However, we were disappointed with the food itself. My wife's fish was somewhat soggy and clearly frozen. My (very large) breakfast was ho-hum as well. It's not that the food was particularly bad, it just wasn't very good. I would put Clawson's in the same ballpark of Denny's or Shari's (if you're familiar with them) with better service. If you are a family on vacation and are looking for reasonably priced food, this might be the place for you. read more

First off, all of the food is homemade so it was already super good. The gravy was fantastic and the biscuits were really big and some of the best biscuits I've ever had. My dad got the ham and cheese omelette and he said the ham to cheese ratio was perfect. The service was amazing they always made sure we had what we needed even though the restaurant was full. Waitress was very nice. I ordered a Crab cocktail appetizer, they are out of crab. Bay shrimp will do I guess. I ordered the NY steak for dinner m, out of steak but they have Prime rib, ok. Salad came out and looked really good and presentable. Bay shrimp cocktail came out. This had to be pre made because it came out with 2 forks and a dried out lemon. Shrimp was lacking texture. Prime rib came out, it was prepared to my medium rare request, The loaded bake potato only comes with butter and sour cream. No other sides with dinner. I stopped here for dinner which turned out to be a great plan. I ordered the Philly steak and cheese... having had a Philly Steak and cheese in Philly, this isn't one of those, to me it was more like a Au Jus Steak sandwich and for this it was brilliant. I mean wow it was tasty. dunk it in the Au Jus and just enjoy. I would gladly stop here again if I am every back in the area. This was my first time in the Oregon coast and I hope it isn't the last. First, we were told to seat ourselves. We sat down, and a few minutes later the waitress came by to ask us what we wanted to order. No offer of coffee or anything... We said we wanted coffee and asked for cream and sugar. Then, when we got the coffee, we realized there were no utensils on the table. I had to get up and find someone to give me utensils. All we got was a fork and a knife, no spoon. I sat back down and realized she had brought us creamers but no sugar. I had to get up again to ask for sugar. Once our breakfasts were delivered, we were pretty much ignored even though it wasn't all that busy. Every time we got a coffee refill, we had to flag down the waitress and ask for it. The food was fine (rather pricy), but nothing to write home about. Then, to add insult to injury they added a $2.00 'convenience fee' because we used a debit card to pay. We decided to take a Sunday drive to Florence while the weather was still some what decent. We were hungry when we left Eugene, didn't really have a clear plan on where we were going to stop, or what we wanted. My guy suggested Clawson's Wheelhouse. He has talked about how he has stopped in here several times with his boss while they are in Florence for work. They both like the food, and the service. No brainer for me. I was starvin, like Marvin by the time we rolled into town. We lucked out on front row Joe parking in the front, someone had just backed out. The place was really busy, but not so busy that we had to long of a wait time. We were able to grab a seat right away. The tables are perfectly distanced, and they are very clean. My guy already knew what he wanted, but since I was so dang hungry I was little Ms. indecisive. They have so much on the menu that looks delicious. He ended up with a Denver omelet, and I don't remember the name of what mine was but it has a slice of ham, scrambled eggs, English muffin, and I didn't want the potatoes, so they subbed a pancake. Now normally I don't order sweets for breakfast such as pancakes. Especially at a restaurant. I just never like how they taste, but not here. The pancakes were so good. I was quite pleased, and very shocked at how much I liked the pancakes. The ham, and everything else were very good. He obviously loved his meal. He finished in quite the hurry. Now he has also bragged about a club sandwich he has had from here, and also a few salads. His boss I guess gets the chicken fried steak, which is honestly what I would have ordered in the past, and almost decided to get from here. I had seen people's plates as they were going by. I will have to try other menu items next time around. I thought I could hear the owner talking. She was making her rounds. She is the sweetest, and we ended talking to her for quite some time. Great people. Even if I hadn't met her, I would still like this place, but that was the cherry on top of a birthday cake. I recommend stopping in here, if you are wanting a great breakfast, or your American diner food. The servers were on top of everything, such as checking in on you. Very disappointed especially after it came so highly recommended. We came in and were told either side was open. We ordered our drinks and then waited about 20 minutes for a different server to take our order. The food took about 30 minutes and arrived cold and soggy like it was sitting for a good while. No one ever came to check on us or refill our drinks. A couple servers seemed a bit frantic and was saying something about having a new system. We won't be back. I would give it another chance if they would of checked on us at least once or got a refill. I can forgive the food but the service was also bad. I feel bad leaving a difficult review during a tough time for people, but service was super slow, took us 10 minutes to get menus while various staff stood within 10 feet of our table. The service did not improve after that. Our food took a long time to arrive. I would have asked our waitress how we were doing on the food, except she was never around. I want cut them slack, because we all know that things are tough on restaurants right now, but the onions on my patty melt weren't even cooked. One was just onion skin which was dry and nasty and shouldn't have ever been on the sandwich. How hard is it to swing by a table when the kitchen is slow to check in with your customers? read more
