Nice, clean, convenient restaurant right on the highway with basic fare done well. Had the Club sandwich with potato salad and a beer. Both were excellent and fresh. Visited on a Monday evening in early October during the Covid restrictions. Interior decorations pay tribute the military, but no political vibes. Great local diner if you're in the area. Likes: I ordered the burger that comes with ham, bacon, and an egg on top. It was absolutely amazing! It was loaded with flavor and dripping with juices. The bun was even toasted which I feel is always a good sign of a quality establishment. I couldn't get enough! Luckily it was pretty big. Since Florence is famous for their clam chowder I upgraded my side of french fries to chowder and wasn't sorry. It had good sized chunks of clam and was nice and creamy. I was happy to see that they also sell a variety of Fanta flavors (the legit Fanta imported from Mexico). My favorite flavor is pineapple. It added a great balance to my meal. Dislikes: the only complaint I have about this place is that they only had two options for dessert, both of which were cobblers. I tried my friend's cobbler and it was pretty good but I still would've liked some additional options to choose from. Other than that I was very pleased. read more

The wait staff was terrible. The service was super slow. The food just average and the breakfast cost as much as my fresh seafood dinner the night before. It took us 45 minutes to get our food. The gravy was so thick it didn't even fall off the fork. It wasn't very hot either. However, I did like the biscuit! If I hadn't had my starving children with me - I would have found another more friendly place to eat!! I doubt I'll ever try this place again. read more

Driving though from Seattle down to Coos Bay Oregon, we stopped at Clawson's to fill the bellies of our family of 7. It did the trick for sure! Prices are reasonable, portions were fabulous too! $5 for a kids burger that was plenty big for 2 of my kids to share. I had the French dip, and it was indeed piled high with roast beef. What a great local mom and pop place! We were starving after sand boarding all day and they recommended this place and we are glad we went! I got the burger and of course added an egg! It was cooked awesome and egg oozed just right! The fries were great and big and a lot of them! When in Florence you have to have clam chowder so we got a bowl and it was awesome! Really creamy and nice big chunks of clams. We of course had to get the black berry cherry cobbler and it was full of flavor. Fish and chips were so so~ I guess I should have asked about the coating. I was expecting beer batter, but it was some sort of flour batter. The fries were pretty good. But the clam chowder was excellent!!! I could taste the butter~ sooo sooo good :) All the dessserts are made in house. Went to have breakfast with my wife. The service was acceptable nothing to really commemorate. The breakfast was the worst I've had in Florence. The sausage appeared to be heat and eat and although I specified medium hard eggs they were undercooked, slimy and not edible. My wife's hash browns were ok as was her bacon. The sign on door made it sound like this was a good spot with great ratings. It was not. We wont be back and recommend you go to the casino or somewhere else. read more

I've been to Clawson's multiple times in the past. It has always been so good. Food has always been warm, and the waitress always super nice. My family of 8 decided to go out for dinner, and Clawson's was the only vote. Our visit this time, was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We had ordered 6 adult meals, and my child had a kids menu to order from. It seemed like it took our food forever to come out. All of our plates containing fries, they were all cold and on some plates soggy. The fried cod was soggy. My Philly was even missing green peppers. Once our check came, I noticed on my check they charged me for an adult hamburger for my 11 year old who asked for a burger from the kids menu. When I told the waitress she said, "I didn't hear kids burger and since the kitchen made this one, that's what I charged." I paid for my bill and asked to speak to the owner. The owner came out and instead of apologizing just kept making excuses as to why they messed up. The kitchen was busy, they are shirt staffed, no one wants to work etc. I let her know I was going to pay for my meal, however it should be a teaching lesson so it doesn't happen to someone else. Again, the owner just kept making excuses, and then at the very end offered to refund my money for the burger. By this point I was already so upset with how they handled the situation and I said I don't want the money back and walked out. I may be only one customer, but I will not ever be returning to this poorly managed restaurant. read more

BEST and I mean the best chicken fingers I have ever had. This is a very late review as I dined here all the way back in May. We planned a road trip across the state of Oregon. On our way from Yachats to Bend, we stopped by Clawson's for a quick bite as we weren't too hungry. I wish I could bring a bucket of those chicken fingers back to the east coast with me!!! Our waitress was very pleasant and provided excellent service. The food was delicious and was brought to us in a timely . Definitely check this place out! Went in for breakfast very recent, and as usual, everything was delish. Had my eggs poached, they were fantastic. We dont live in the area, but frequent often, many times a year. Only bad thing was I bought a Clawsons Wheel House Tee shirt, and upon getting home, and washing it in cold water, it was wayyyyy too small. The size displayed what I wear, but it was far far too small. Bummer, but, for a good, fair priced breakfast, lunch or dinner, Clawsons is our go-to. read more

Greeted by a friendly young lady, so smiley and cheerful. The owner came by the table which is always nice. So into what she does. Down home values. Breakfast burrito was really good, and I loved sitting by the window and watching the cars go by on a beautiful drizzly morning. I wish I could give a ZERO, or negative stars.... We never got to eat there. We sat down and ordered a burger, a sandwich, and some fries for my kid for lunch. A Half an hour later, we still had not been given our salads. The rest of the diner was done eating and had left the restaurant. But nothing for us. We asked for the salads and the waitress seemed to roll her eyeballs at us. Five minutes later, with no sign of the waitress, we walked out. Food is OK but the service is terrible. We sat down at 10 am and my waitress didn't show up till 10:30 and only after I asked the hostess to find out waitress, which said she had no control of that. When our waitress did show up 10 minutes later she said it was because of confusion between her and another waitress working the same room. Didn't get our food till 11:00. Her excuse was they had 2 dinning rooms and to many groups and the kitchen was backed up. No apologies. The waitress said we yelled at her. No such thing by the way. So the whole time involved was an hour and a half for breakfast. It was hot, stuffy and noisey. This was on Sunday morning. I liked it better when it was a Kozy Kitchen. I got there a little before the evening rush but my waitress was awesome. She checked on me frequently and kept my ice tea full. I usually eat off the appetizer menu but I saw someone with the coconut shrimp. Except for too much food it was excellent. The shrimp were crisp and so were the French fries,just the way I like them. I didn't see it but they charged $1.00 for clam chowder, it was good but I didn't want to get to full. I probably should have had the crab cakes and dessert but overall a very good dining experience. Someone suggested we go there to get a crab cocktail to go. Bad idea. It wasn't any kind of real crab I have ever had. Very small cupful and padded with lettuce on the bottom. We stopped on our way driving thru to Lincoln City. The decor inside is cute. We were seated right away. Samatha was our waitress came over took our drink orders. My husband and son ordered the club and a cup of clam chowder and my other son ordered chicken strips from the kids menu I ordered the chicken sandwich. Old fashion diner at its best. Had a great experience here, twice. Food is fresh and the service is stellar. Fried chicken was crisp, hot, and not greasy. Bean and ham soup was so good you can easily make a meal of it. Crab and shrimp cocktails are fresh with just the right amount of lick. The only down side is the dated decor, but we go for the food and service so that didn't bother us. They also have a very nice memorial for our military. We were seated quickly and found their menu to be not overwhelming and not underwhelming either. I personally had the Cod & Chips ($12.00) and a cup of their Clam Chowder. The Cod was cooked perfectly, nicely breaded. The fries...well, they were fries. But, the Clam Chowder was excellent. I'm a bit of a "Chowdah" snob and it passed the test. Restaurant was clean and staff were extremely friendly. Our drinks were filled before the ice hit the bottom of the glass. Parking can be a bit challenging as it's on a busy intersection but no problems were encountered when we stopped (lunch). Pleasantly surprised and plenty of menu items for those non-seafood fans (such as my spouse). I would certainly recommend them. The reason for four stars is I felt paying $4.00 for a cup of chowder (I know, it was good but...) was a bit steep and their prices were...okay. Otherwise, perfect experience and we will stop back when and if we are headed through the city again. read more
