    A daily special

There is a lovely stewardship at hand here with the manager of this location who is carrying forward a legacy of excellence and love in the neighborhood. You can feel it as soon as you enter. The vibe is immaculate and the service feels high end but homely. And as soon as the food landed I knew we were bout to be in for an impeccable meal. This is the spot you been looking for. The must hits: - Seasonal greens (I'd get extra dressing next time) - The filet mignon special they had was RIDICULOUS - Market fish was insane. Tender with a crisp outside and succulent flavor all the way through. - Collards (not as smacking as my nana's but they did their thing.

This was decent upscale American food in a nice space. Beets - solid. The mix of different types of beets gives varied textures, and balanced tartness and sweetness with earthiness. The miso cream was a nice creamy and savory note, and the orange slices brightened everything up nicely. Mushroom chickpea burger - not bad, but I've had better. The chickpea party was well seasoned, but it and the buns fell apart really easily. I also felt that the burger needed some pickles or other sour element - the sauce on the side provided some, but it also added a ton of richness as well. The fries were nice, but not as crispy as I would've liked. But overall it's a hearty portion. Budino - rich and chocolatey, plus some crunch from the crumb and the airy meringue, and some fruitiness from the berry sauce. I loved the decor here - there are books everywhere, which makes it feel like you're just eating inside someone's kitchen. The meal came to about $109 after tax and tip, which is about expected for a slightly higher end meal for two.

Great service, excellent ambiance and nice menu for drinks and food. They carry small batch liquors and beers so not your big names but great curation of flavors. Perfect little bistro vibe and feel. A must try uptown!

Absolutely, yes! Immediately, yes! What a lovely American restaurant located in Harlem! Dimly lit, perfect for a date night with an intentional menu in a staff that knows their business. The upstairs area was full, so we dined in the basement which gave off upscale wine cellar vibes, very chic. We ordered the pork belly and beets as our appetizer, and the duck and steak for our entrées. I'm not typically a fan of beats, but these were prepared deliciously with a vinaigrette accompaniment that really set it over the edge. I'm also not a big port eater, but the way I tore into that pork belly would have you thinking that I keep swine on my fork. It was seasoned and cooked beautifully. My date had the steak and ate his entire thing. But the real star here was my duck leg. Aside from duck confit that I had in Paris, this is the best duck I've had in New York. The waitress told us that they have a very special cooking time and process for the duck, and I tasted every bit of intention in every bite. Crispy, tender, juicy, just an all-around absolute yes. Couldn't recommend Clay more!

I've lived in NY my whole life - and NYC for 2 years - and honestly this was one of the best restaurants I've been too. The ambiance is amazing. Dimly lit, not too loud, perfect for a "catch up" evening with friends or even a date. Everyone is dressed nice (I'd say business casual) , which also adds a nice touch. The food is amazing. Can definitely tell it is very fresh - was nice size portions however did not feel gross after eating so much. The drinks were also spectacular. I will definitely be coming back again. This is a perfect spot if you are looking to celebrate a special occasion. I took my friend here for his birthday last night and we couldn't stop raving about it!

really cute place that's unassuming and has two floors. All of the food is formed to table and extremely fresh. The service was great, and all of the drinks were also delicious. Everything tasted really fresh and they changed their menu seasonally so you can always go back and try something new.

Clay is a fantastic spot in Harlem near the Apollo. Made a reservation for dinner for 2 on a Friday. We ordered an incredible Spanish white, then tried: + Chicken liver + Radicchio with pear and spiced walnut + Paccheri with pork sausage, broccoli rabe + Gnocchi with butternut squash + Chocolate budino The highlights were the chicken liver and paccheri. Definitely want to return to try more dishes (and wines)! Vibe was great, too.

Wow wow wow what a surprise! I was really impressed with Clay. Every dish we had was excellent and hearty. I really enjoyed their food and wine selection! If you make a reservation you'll likely get to sit downstairs which is a really magical and private spot. Couldn't recommend this place enough! It's a smart place to come for a date or special occasion.

Clay has become one of my favorite places overnight... 5/5 all around. The space itself is beautiful and very modern. It gives a woodsy vibe in the middle of the city, dimmed private feeling space. There's a downstairs, which is where I was with my family and an outside space. My family decided to have a private party here last night and they were SPECTACULAR, PHENOMENAL, OUT OF THIS WORLD. All the waiters were extremely on point with pouring our drinks and ordering our food on time as a group. They did a marvelous job at controlling our group of 15 and everything was beautifully timed because of the staff! The food was perfectly cooked. I had the best steak and the best watermelon salad (that I am now obsessed with). I recommend ANYTHING on this menu. Including dessert. Everything was so delicious and worth every penny! Thank you again to the staff and to the cooks for making our time so memorable. I cannot wait to come back here on a regular day with my friends!

I never wrote this review because I don't want the mindless masses to discover this place and start trekking up to Harlem when Clay inevitably gets a rave review, Michelin star, or some other well-deserved accolade. So I'll whisper this next part: The Chicken Liver appetizer is rich and divine. You literally can't go wrong with a single entree but pasta lovers will love the unique Calamarata, duck lovers will drool over the Confit Duck Leg, beef lovers will squeal over the succulent Grass Fed Strip Steak, and pescatarians will swim for joy with the Red Snapper. Or, you can do what we did, and share a bunch of entrees family-style. Want sugar? Both the donuts and the fruit tart are made to perfection. Simple ideas perfectly executed...What more could you want? Complement all that deliciousness with the frothy Traveling Light, and you've got one of the best farm-to-table restaurant meals the city has to offer. Now shhhhh! You never heard me type!

This place has changed so much over the last four years--and while a lot can change in that time,…read moreit was still disappointing to see. I stopped by on a weekday around 3:00-4:00 p.m., right as happy hour was starting. According to their website, happy hour runs from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The main reason I came was for their frozen rosé, which I remembered being one of the best. It's definitely more of a sweet, refreshing drink than a strong one, but it still gives you a nice buzz. I was even willing to pay full price for it. I literally paid for an Uber just because I was craving that frozen drink. The first thing I noticed was that, despite it being broad daylight, there was a security guard at the door checking IDs and searching bags. That's their policy, and that's fine, but what really stood out was the condition of the entrance. The front door was cracked and held together with duct tape. It seemed odd to be so focused on security while basic maintenance appeared to be neglected. When I walked in, I was only the second customer in the entire bar besides the bartender. Unfortunately, I found out the frozen drink machines have been broken for months, so there were no frozen drinks available at all. The bartender mentioned that she has repeatedly told management the machines need to be repaired, but nothing has been done. Since that was the only reason I came, and nothing else on the menu really caught my interest, I decided not to stay. This place has changed dramatically since the COVID era. The atmosphere feels completely different. One of the things I used to enjoy was their hookah happy hour, which was around $25 with refills for about $10-$15, and they had a great selection of flavors. From what I've heard, they no longer offer hookah, and it sounds like they may not have had the proper license back then, which is concerning if true. Another thing I miss is the outdoor seating area they had during COVID. The indoor space is pretty small, but the outdoor setup made the bar feel much larger and created a much better atmosphere. It's disappointing that they didn't keep it because I think it really added to the experience and probably helped attract more customers. Sorry I didn't take any photos, but honestly, there wasn't much worth photographing. The interior hasn't really changed, so the existing photos online are still an accurate representation of what it looks like still.

I see why this place has such low reviews, the common sense and customer service are nonexistent here, so I suggest everyone avoid this place and go somewhere where your money is valued. A friend suggested this place and I should have spent my Friday night elsewhere after a long week, after this gross and terrible experience. Additionally, another customer has the same Florida ID I had and the bartenders were comparing both!! The same ID I used to get on a flight. Are you telling me a US Government agency can't detect a fake, and a small bar in the Bronx can? After the 4th and final time, the (Andre L & team) bartenders told me to wait for the manager to come and resolve this issue. Why would I waste more of my time after my night was ruined to further "resolve" this non-issue? I wanted to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday on Saturday, May 16th, and after searching a few places, I settled on Sobro Garden especially after finding out it was one of Jimmy's spots. We celebrated with 30 of our closest family and friends, and it truly became a night he said he'll never forget. Where do I start? Let me begin by saying Sobro Garden, you guys did NOT disappoint!! First and foremost, thank you Jimmy, because when I tell you this man went above and beyond to make everyone feel like family at his establishment, I truly mean it. Jimmy personally checked in with everyone going table to table making sure everyone was enjoying themselves, asking if everything was good from the drinks, atmosphere, music and food was to satisfaction because he genuinely wanted everyone to enjoy and especially told my husband it's a blessing to hit a milestone, celebrating with family and friendsand hope his place made it a memorable one. Her smile and warm hearted present made the experience even better. She greeted me as if we knew each other for years and our waitress and waiter? Absolutely AMAZING. My husband, our guests and I were attended to with such PRISTINE EXCELLENCE all night long. Now let's talk about the FOOD... because BABY!!! Everything was DELICIOUS. I can't even single out one item because every dish hit the spot. Everyone at our tables ordered something different, so we all got to taste a little bit of everything from the pernil, steak & onions, grilled salmon, chicken, arroz con gandules, fried fish, steak skewers and BABY... those famous Crack Wings Rub had everybody wanting to eat their fingers To top it all off, the highlight of the night was seeing Melle Mel celebrating his birthday from the day before and actor Darrin Henson, so handsome in person was also in the building. This is a place to find rare beer not ordinarily seen elsewhere. This was my first visit and I must have walked past Harlem Hops innumerable times along Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard in Harlem. This time I caught myself walking past on a beautiful Saturday with a five second delay and turned around and walked into Harlem Hops. Initially I thought I'll have a beer and keep it moving. I ordered a canned Hefeweizen, Deep Fried Highlighter Hefeweizen. Yep, that's the name and it was great. It supposed to have a banana note, but that was barely detectable. The clove note was there and it rode the top of this summer Hefeweizen nicely. Given this is one of the canned beers, they may have this anytime. Then I had American Pale Ale on tap, another great choice for a summer day: crisp, refreshing, cloudy light amber in color and unfiltered reminding you of a Hefeweizen. It has a slight citrus fruity flavor to my palate. There are sixteen taps. The taps change with the kegs, the season and what the owner sources from local breweries and beyond. Meanwhile, I'm having good conversations with folks who are regulars and the woman behind the bar, giving great recommendations. I forget the woman's name, but she is great. You can sample whatever they have on tap. She is good at understanding your taste profile and making recs. They also have a limited food menu. There is a backyard patio or garden and one can sit outside in front on the sidewalk. The dark interior is nice and cool on a summer day. The bathroom was clean as well. Four stars!
