I had a very poor experience with this business. After setting an appointment w/ a project manager to meet at a vacant property for an estimate for cost to remodel & repair items in a small house. He did not meet me but sent a leak detection man instead. (I had already had a report done by a leak detection company which I had mentioned). When I met him a few days later, he said he would get back to me. I received one phone call from him 5 days later saying he was preparing the estimate. I never heard from him again. I would advise staying away from this company. In 2019, we had a leak from an old drain in our 2nd floor shower. Our insurance company recommended we use Clean Earth to handle the emergency services. After the initial work, Clean Earth proposed we use them for the restoration work, which included rebuilding the shower and bath area. We did and as soon as they completed the work, we had more leaks. Their restoration sub contractor, Jeff Nelson, came back and discovered grout missing in the shower, which he repaired and indicated the shower was all good. A few months later, we discovered more cracked and missing grout elsewhere and he came back again to fix those areas. Then in 2024, we again had a leak from our shower. We called out Clean Earth who dried out the leak, but refused to go further in fixing the problem, indicating our 3 year warranty was expired and refusing to take any responsibility. We had to bring out another contractor to rebuild our shower and bath area for the 2nd time in 4 years. During the construction, we discovered that there were defects in the waterproofing that Clean Earth had installed back in 2019. It was never right from the beginning, and the repairs to the grout only slowed the leak down until after several years, it finally soaked through the wood sub floor and down onto our kitchen ceiling again. Then Clean Earth wanted us to pay $2365 for their emergency services. We went to small claims court and Clean Earth successfully hid behind their expired warranty, to avoid paying damages to us. But the Judge did reduce their invoice in half, indicating that a company can't provide defective workmanship and then profit from fixing it later. Our court case was #24SC03053C. I also reported them to the Contractors State License Board, but they were unable to help, because the faulty work happened in 2019. However, they did put my report in their file, in case others report problems with Clean Earth. The CSLB Case number is #SF 2024 3736. I also reported them to our insurance carrier, who recommended them to us in the beginning. Bottom line, this company does horrible restoration work with questionable sub contractors and will not stand behind the quality of their workmanship in the work and services they provide. There are other contractors out there that will guarantee their work, but Clean Earth is not one of them. read more

First the good: The pack-in and pack-out crew were great! Hard-working and nothing broken... extraordinary. Also, the final touch-up crew was beyond my expectations. Every detail was important to them. The problem was the project management. We have done enough construction in our home to know that things don't always go well and that need change... It's the nature of projects. ALL we asked was for communication. What did we not get? Communication! Our project manager, from the very beginning, was trying to get us to do his job. He was non-responsive and dismissive of our needs and the communication between him and the flooring company was just as bad. The plumber they used to put our washer and dryer back in did a shoddy job, had to re-do it and, after the re-do, my husband came home to a house filled with gas!!! All our project manager did was tell us to use the house fan... uh... how about turn off the gas! FINALLY they sent out a new plumbing company that did a wonderful job and was flabbergasted at the shoddy job the plumbers before had done. THEN, when when we needed the dishwasher and refrigerator hooked back up, they sent the SAME guys that almost blew our house up. I was furious and all our project manager said is that it was "who he uses". The project managers attitude got worse and worse the longer the project went and it went WAY over what it was supposed to. We have an excellent insurance company who recommended them but I will be writing them an even more detailed review in the hopes that they no longer use this business. There's so much more that went wrong and we never felt heard or important in any of it. Finally, when I tried to have a face-to-face with the project manager, he acted like a petulant child because I wasn't happy with his work and WALKED OUT! Problem: an old dishwasher was removed, showing a significant amount of rodent feces, water damage and mold. Clean Earth cleaned and restored. The following things occurred during the "restoration": 1. Communication always had to be initiated by me 2. Project Manager didn't respond to emails multiple times. 3. Initial estimate was 6 weeks for project. It took 6 months 4. Mold was found during project. At no time was it estimated; an invoice was submitted for $1770 3 weeks after the entire project was completed. Business owner claims that no mold estimates are ever made and that they bill after the work is completed. At no time did they ever take responsibility - the continual response: "That's the homeowner's job" 5. Continually had to ask them what the next step was. 6. Was completely un-involved with subcontractors and setting up times and dates to move the project forward. 7. Subcontractors needed to be continually brought back for touch-ups, forgotten tools, cleaning, etc. Clean Earth stated that this was the owner's responsibility. So in short, while they did finally finish the project, it took 6 months to do a small kitchen. They continually failed to communicate throughout the entire process. What should have been done in the latest 3 months took double the time and cost us $3K in expenses. I cannot, in good faith, recommend this company to anyone. Feel free to go with this company if you want - just be prepared to continually have to email, text, call, and be your own project manager to get this done. Business owner will try to disclaim responsibility. However, nothing takes away from the fact that when asked why it took so long, the project manager said "That's just the way it is." read more

My HOA contracted with this company for a mold removal project in my unit. Alex and her partner, Fidel, did a superb job. Alex was exceptional. She has great communication and customer service skills. She was patient while explaining the progress of this process to me. This is not a situation that I've ever had experience with. Clean Earth will now estimate and bid the reconstruction phase and I really hope that they get awarded with the work. So far everyone at Clean Earth has been very nice and easy to work with. In the last year I to use Clean Earth on 2 occasions & needless to say I have gotten to know the entire crew.... My HOA of my condo community uses Clean Earth on all their restoration, dryout projects & they have re-assured me that theyre one of the better companies out there! I had a Slab leak / flood restoration & mold mediation, kitchen tearout & rebuild along with shortly after had a roof leak & had a dry-out & drywall repair. Big jobs like this are never a speedy repair & is a process especially when requiring HOA board approvals but for the most part under the circumstance now that its behind me, they did a great job on both projects. I would never work with this company again. They exhibited poor communication and the job was not completed to my standards. The quality of the job was mediocre; but most bothersome to me was the poor communication between their contractors, main office, and I. They replaced broken glass light fixture coverings on my chandelier that didnt fit properly and then later informed me that they would not correct their mistake because it was not paid for by insurance. They caused damage to the stairs leading up to my condo during the construction and never repaired afterwards. When I asked their reply to me was that "it was never in the initial scope of the job". In my opinion, they could have fixed that for a half an hour of labor and kept customer satisfaction. At first, i didn't want to write a Yelp review because the workers themselves were ALL very nice and the the bulk of the work was actually well done. It was the lengthy process and the lack of eye to detail that brought my high expections of 5-star quality work to just a 3.75 rating. i did e-mail Clean Earth Restorations (Shawn, Rhett -- as well as the adjuster at AAA); and this is what i wrote to the parties involved -- "The bulk of the work was GOOD. It was the UNsatisfactory detail and finishing touch to a "good job" which would have made the finished total package a "great job." From first reported to AAA of the water damage August 1 to the completion walk-through with Clean Earth on September 26, 2018 -- it was a good experience on practicing patience and allowing the work to proceed as it did -- though there seemed to me a communication gap between AAA and Clean Earth, which may have added more time to complete the work (almost two weeks of negotiations for the changes). * Lack of preparedness regarding materials/tools needed. Two or three times, workers came to work without the necessary equipment or materials to do the assigned work (i.e., grout had to be hunted down from previous worker to fully complete the grout work; a necessary tool was needed to cut to size a couple bolts for toilet; parts needed were brought in at the last minute). * Trash left in the yard were not picked up as promised that day -- so i trashed them myself (since it was our trash pick-up day anyway) -- not wanting the eyesore even an extra day (twice, i trashed stuff waiting to be picked up). * 3 extra blinds were broken off and were taped with BLUE-colored tape, which my Mom hated, and which immediately fell again -- so i painstakingly used thin wire to at least put them up again, minus the unsightly blue tape. * Necessary man-power was UNavailable when needed -- so instead of waiting, i helped ---- by moving furniture back in place, as well as helping hang the heavy chandelier back in its proper place on the ceiling. * Carpet was cleaned... and at walk-through, seemed like a job well done -- but after a few days, when it was finally dry and re-vacuumed, the carpet on the hallway and stairs now have a different tonal color (a light-pinkish tone) in the mid-areas, but the edges are still quite dirty looking. "Because i didn't complain about the bumps encountered during the restoration and because i helped as noted above (labor which was charged to AAA) -- i stressed that in return, i wanted a THOROUGH cleaning on the carpeting. Either my expectations were too high -- or the worker was not given enough time to do the work as thoroughly as i asked. "Overall, it was a trying experience -- one that i hope won't be relived again! Thank you, Leo, for your help -- as well as Shawn and Rhett -- for your coordinated supervision of the work. The paint-job from Luis was very well done -- his friendliness and willing to please was appreciated by Mom and me. Thomas' grout work was very good -- i would've liked even the edges to the wall to have been as thoroughly done. Jim did a good job finishing the bathroom baseboards and smoothing out that lumpy carpet area at the door. Alex also did a good job at whatever chore she was assigned -- it seems to me that she has a heart willing to please, with the practical intelligence and strength needed to accomplish the job." ALL the workers (including the project managers) i met from Clean Earth Restorations were friendly, professional, and cooperative; but because of "bumps" encountered on the overall project, the rating for the company is 3.75. read more

Our refrigerator was leaking from the back and caused damage to our cabinets, and flooring. After Verona Kitchen & Bath did the demo we found a second leak with mold! This was an extremely lengthy and draining process to repair and remodel everything but with the great communication from the Project Manager, Dean I had the comfort of knowing they were doing the best they could to get everything finished. I live in a small apartment complex, my neighbor clearly had some kind of water damage so this company came out very late at night on 5/7/19. It woke me up out of my sleep at midnight because some of their coworkers were slamming doors, picking up and dropping trash in the middle of the walkway, and talking very loud in the middle of the apartment complex with the door open and all their fans on. I understand that this company is a 24 hour emergency service but you need to have some courtesy when dealing with noise and the neighbors surrounding. When I went outside to ask how much longer they would be they said a couple of minutes and that they were just finishing up. I then complained about how loud they were being at this time of night and that they woke me up out of my sleep and all the guy could say was "okay" multiple times. I didn't even get one I'm sorry. If I could give them zero stars I would. My relationship with Clean Earth started when I placed a claim on my insurance. Initially they came in with the insurance and gave me information on what needed to be done. I went with them because I trusted my insurance company and their judgment. I was wrong. A leak from my bathroom on my second floor to my first floor caused damage to the ceiling. The work started out clean and professional but as the work progressed and workers changed it seemed to get more sloppy. First incident- I have an old heating system that heats through the ceiling they had to disable that system and install a new heater. The electrician came and installed the heater in the middle of a huge blank wall. It was extremely random and a bad place to put a heater. I had to have them move it to a spot that was better suited. What is funny is that the electrician said he had a hard time installing it on the first wall and he should have installed it there to begin with... DUH. I could have told him that and I don't work construction/home repair. Second Incident- They removed my popcorn ceiling and I asked that they covered all my furniture so dust would not get into my couches. I come home on my lunch break and the couches were half covered. I had to ask them to fully cover them Third incident. They started to patch the ceiling on a Friday. They left a HUGE mess in front of my condo. They spilled the water they used to clean up outside of my place and then didn't clean it up. It dried white and looked horrible. They drug drywall bits and dust all over my neighbors welcome mat and left it there. I had to have a worker come back to clean it up. Fourth incident. They left drips of what i'm assuming is DAP or some sort of putty all over my walls and also they touched my light fixtures with their dirty hands and never bothered to clean off the paint/ or DAP or whatever it was! I had to clean it up myself. I didn't even bother calling them about this FIFTH incident. They billed my insurance company directly. I waited for an invoice from them and never received it. About a month and a half to two months later they call my husband and email me over an invoice late in the week right before we go on vacation. They call me the following week to remind me of payment... fine. After i say I'm going to pay i just have to move the money i deposited around she then proceeds to tell me "Yea because we are approaching the 90 day mark and if you don't pay i'm going to have to place a lean on your house and you don't want me to do that" EXCUSE ME. I thought that was rude. I apologized for not paying, i hadn't received and invoice and told you I was going to pay and then you threaten me?!? If they were really concerned about payment they should have contacted me sooner. They had my cell my email address my phone number and my home address. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN! unprofessional, rude, and sloppy. read more

Let me just say that: they outsource a $72 Asbestos test (has invoice to proof the price) and charge you $288 on their bill to "compensate the 'extra' work ( to take the piece to the lab and send me the results by email) their staff has done.) Do I need to say more? If you get a initial quote of $3000 to lure you in and end up with the final bill of almost $5000 because of the "'unforeseen' nature of the job",don't be surprised because these mold experts just seem to 'lose' the ability to estimate the work correctly from the beginning. If they look so profession in the beginning but after you sign the contract, your calls are not returned till 2 days later and you never know the progress of the restoration, don't be surprised.
