Yeah I know... (listens to awkward silence in the room) ...but actually, once you get over the idea that this is a procedure that could be very invasive to a very private, usually-taboo-to even-your-doctor area... the awkwardness goes away. Seriously. This is by far one of the best ways I've discovered to cleanse my system, clean the pipes so to speak, and though yes I was TERRIFIED at first, now that I've done it... I'm not sure what took me so long. Fatima is one of the best holistic practioners I've ever met. Very professional and organized, and yet also charming and funny. She put me at ease right away, and even held my hand and coached me through when I was feeling nauseated halfway through the experience (my fault for not breathing properly, not hers). And the results are incredible - I just had my first colonic this weekend and already I'm feeling lighter, more energetic and my skin has cleared up. That said, the difference between a colon cleansing that will having you coming back for more versus one that could traumatize you for life is all dependent on the practitioner. PLEASE, this is coming from a self-confessed penny-pinching frugalista... don't cheap out on this one. I mean if you decide to get it done, YES they are really going to stick a tube down there and YES you do want someone as professional, knowledgeable and patient as Fatima and YES it is worth paying the premium for someone of her caliber. So why not just go visit Fatima instead? And seriously, she is NOT expensive. Out of respect for her business I won't mention numbers here, but let's just say she's very realistic about people's means to afford these treatments and will work something out with you if you really want to try this unconventional but very effective procedure. The first visit was pleasant enough, and Fatima is very nice and personable (the reason for 2 and not 1 star), but after I paid and signed up for an additional 2 sessions there was a drop-off in service. Disregard what is listed on the website. Probiotics were never offered, Reflexology never happened. And my 1 customized holistic wellness tele-session was never mentioned. After I paid for all my sessions aromatherapy was no longer offered, half a glass of coconut water (the "post-colonic electrolyte elixir") happened two out of the three times. She got me confused with another client on my second visit. Everyone's human. I don't care if my mechanic gets me confused with someone else who drives the same car, but doctors and people involved in putting things in my ass or touching my body should make the effort to properly identify a client. The soothing music is a smooth listening radio station, so if you love radio commercials as much as I do, you're in luck. There are lots of them. Lastly, there is a high-pitched whine from the water pipes that happens at random intervals while you are relaxing and having your innards hosed out. I was told "that's the water pipes excited by the warm water". Terribly, horribly, nails on chalkboard distracting.
