Steve Lopez at Clear Mortgage Capital caught my attention because he advertises lower rates. Unfortunately, that turned out to be misleading, as there was no follow-through once I actually engaged him. After I sent him my financial documents to get pre-qualified for a property I was submitting an offer on, he stopped responding. I followed up multiple times by email, text, and phone. When he did respond, he repeatedly said he would call me back, but he never did -- this happened twice. Because of this lack of follow-through, I lost the opportunity to move forward on a triplex I was trying to purchase. He only reached out again after I contacted one of his colleagues. When I later called him back, he again said he would call me in a few minutes and never did. At that point, I stopped reaching out because none of his promises were kept. This experience was extremely frustrating and unprofessional, and it cost me a real opportunity to purchase a property. I will not be using this lender for any future transactions. read more

I cant say enough good about Steve Lopez. I had been spending well over a month trying to get a refi through a bank when I gave up and responded to one of Steve's texts. Working with Luis Rabago was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had. The process was full of delays and unnecessary extensions caused by lack of attention to detail, transparency and poor communication. Instead of making things smoother, Luis made the entire transaction far more stressful than it needed to be. Isn't it obvious from their deliberately deceptive mailings that one should NOT have anything to do with this unethical business? - The front of the envelope says "Applicant(s):" and then your name and address. I have never heard of nor applied for a mortgage from this business. - The envelope itself has perforations on three sides akin to a W2 or important financial communication. This solicitation is neither. Lastly, there are instructions in the mailer to contact DMAchoice.org to opt out of prescreened offers by *paying a fee*. It is a violation of CCPA to (a) buy personal data in bulk from title companies and then abuse the personal data to send deceptive mailers to our addresses without our consent, and (b) charge consumers to exercise their right to opt-out. read more

Rates were very competitive and reduced by 0.25% while we were going through the process. This mortgage company has been by far the WORST mortgage company I have EVER worked with. This had been my 4th time in the last 6 years in obtaining a loan/refinancing my condo and I was appalled with the lack of professionalism, attention to details and responsiveness. I initially found this company through the LendingTree.com website when I entered my information to be contacted by mortgage companies. James Kang reached out to me via email and text to obtain my business and at first, I thought, wow, this guy is so responsive. He gave me the answers I was looking for so, I decided to move forward with him on a 30 year fixed loan. I even made a deal that if he can match the going deal right now without a lot of back and forth, that I'd also refer my brother to refinance with him as well. So we ended up working together. However, as soon as he got our business things turned for the worst. It just seemed like he didn't care anymore and stopped initiating getting the deal done in a timely manner. The loan start to finish took about a month when he had all my paperwork in the FIRST 24 hours. Keep in mind my last refinance in January, took 10 days to close. His processor, Aya, seemed spacey because she would ask me for documents/information I already provided her such as the contact name and number to verify employment and my most recent pay stub. It was extremely frustrating. The absolute WORST part I had to deal was when James would continue to ask me to sign all the closing disclosures that NEVER had the correct numbers. I told him that I want a ZERO cost loan. James would always tell me to "just sign them" so it would start the "timer" to get my loan documents sooner and he'd review them and adjust for lender credits before I get the final loan docs. I mean who does this? Then all of a sudden, I have a notary at my house with an escrow statement that DOESN'T MATCH the closing disclosure. If this is not shady, I don't know what is. He got my LOAN AMOUNT incorrect AND thought I wanted to pay my title recording fee. What part of a zero cost loan didn't he not understand? I always said that I wanted the loan amount to be the principal balance only and I would pay for any interest and reconveyance fee at time of closing. Nope, he built that into the loan amount. He even had the audacity then to use foul language on the phone with me when I said I was going to walk away because I felt this was shady. Later, he called back and said he'll cover the title fee and I asked him to put that in writing. He then later stated, "what, you think that will be legally binding?" I mean that is just despicable. Long story short, I ended up signing because we came so far in the process and didn't want another ding on my credit report. But when I emailed him about the status of my loan a week after my loan was supposed to close, he asked if "I was mad?" Yes, I'm mad because why am I reaching out to you to find out if my loan is closed. They just didn't care. Last but not least, almost 2.5 weeks after my loan has closed, I have not received a final closing package from their escrow company, Prime Service Escrow in Buena Park. I had to call to ask about it and the refund I thought I was about to get back since I fluffed it up by a tiny amount per the notary public's recommendation they said that there is no refund due. Another shady plot at this point, I'm just so over it and MAD! read more

We did a cashout refi with Nathan and eMortgage about a month ago and it was absolutely the smoothest process I've ever gone through. This was our third time getting a mortgage, but our first refi, so we weren't sure how quickly it would all get done. From beginning to end (cash in my bank account), it took less than 3 weeks!
