I would give this place four stars as they are decent bagels...for the area. They are made fresh and they have a pretty good chew to them. The flavors available are your average plain, everything, salt etc. Nothing special when I went there which is a shame. Back home they had spinach, French toast and so many options but I realize this is not the north east and that is why I also mention it is a good bagel for the area. I dropped a star simply because of price. A single bagel with flavored cream cheese at 3.99 is absurd and unappealing. It didn't come with egg or ham or strips of bacon. Came with a bacon horseradish cream cheese that tasted like I had everywhere else. I would go back to get a dozen bagels if the need arose as that seems to be the only deal there is here. read more

+ awesome bagels - very small I like this bagel place much better than Einstein just down the road. Their bagels are crispier on the outside and better tasting. Bagels are around $5 for 1/2 dozen. The poppy seed bagel is perfect, the pumpernickel places a close second. Their cinnamon rugala pastry is also tasty ($1 each). The place is small with a couple tables outside to sit at. Staff was friendly. One word of warning is that this place closes early, like 1pm on the weekend and 2 or 3pm on weekdays. read more

Do not recommend this bagel shop very dirty and found a golden blond hair in my bagel went back for a refund they refused to give a refund and threw out the bagel stating they don't have any blond hair workers but proceeds for bring out a golden retriever dog!! This seems to be the best spot around for bagels. The shop has been there for years. Einstein's is across the street, but I'd go local over chain anytime. The bagels were good. Chewy and squishy. They seem to have a standard 6-8 flavors with multiple types of cream cheese. They also offer peanut butter spread, which is perfect for my vegan date. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese, lox, capers, and onions. It was made well with lots of cream cheese. The coffee is roasted in house and is very good. No cream and sugar is needed. It's perfectly smooth without a bitter aftertaste. There is one 2-person table outside and one standing 2-person table inside. It's definitely a place to get a dozen bagels and a tub of cream cheese to go, but I wanted to eat my bagel sandwich right away so we stood inside. Parking is a bit challenging because it's in a small space. The menu seems to be a bit expensive. Reasonable for taking a dozen bagels home, but more expensive if they are prepping anything. My lox bagel was $8 and by the time we got our teo bagels and coffees, our bill was $17. Overall, a solid three stars for the best bagels in the area, but nothing to rave about and perhaps it's not as good as the cost. I give it two stars because the owner busts his ass to try to make everything taste good and to get things done on schedule . The two stars is simply for the owners, who I worked for , for a few months with my girlfriend and his treatment towards us. Needless to say , they both have temperamental issues and tend to treat their customers and employees like trash. I watched him scream at multiple people for no reason . And when he had my girlfriend and I " suck it up " when we got COVID, It was the last straw . Overpriced but delicious . Don't make anything custom or chances are you'll end up going back and forth with the owner that gets off on being superior, even fired an employee over a dispute we had. Sunday AM in Clearwater; this is where we decided to go. Given where we are from, I feel we know bagels pretty well. This place delivered! The bagels had a really good taste and consistency; delicious! Staff was friendly and helpful when we arrived. We ordered our bagels, toppings and coffee and went outside. There's not seating inside and one table outside overlooking Gulf to Bay Boulevard...that's where we sat. Bagels were delicious. As was the coffee. The bagels are over priced. I've been. here three times, won't go back again. Today I ordered a dozen rugalah, priced by the pound. The price came to over 26 dollars. I asked the person waiting on me if the cost was really over 26 dollars, he said yes, they are priced by the pound. I asked him how much my order weighed, he mumbled something like "she said this much". I told him I did not want them, just the bagels. He then went to get a lady to assist him with removing the item from my bill. I asked her how she knew what to charge me if the item had not been weighed, she replied, "that's ok". It wasn't a comment, it was a question. The bagels are good, not anything special. I like supporting a local business, but I dont appreciate being treated this way. Comparable bagels are across the street at Einstein. Their hours are normal and you can sit inside if you prefer. Better option is Costco, better quality and much less expensive. read more

NYC Bagels dome the NYC way in Clearwater. I was wary of going to a place that claimed to make "NYC Bagels" because there are many that claim it but don't pull it off. Clearwater Bagels pulls off NYC Bagels amazingly well. They even have a video playing of their process to show that they're doing it right. I got a doz assorted bagels and brought them back to our hotel, with the speed that they're being eaten I may be driving the 45 minute round trip again to get more tomorrow! read more

Good beagles... Not the best. Hard on heavy. Some people like that I guess. When you toast them they lighten up a little when you butter them. Well, no... they don't. LOL! But, they still taste good. Wish they would last a little longer. After 3 to 4 days mold sets in and you have to throw them away. So, if you don't eat them right away then just get a couple. These are the best bagels we have been able to find in the Bay area. They also have excellent deli items, we love the pastrami. They have limited hours always, till noon weekdays and 1 on weekends but they are open every day and abiding by all coronavirus guidance. read more

Big, fresh bagels with crunchy crust yet soft on the inside. I stopped by on a week day morning and there were about 5 people in front of me but the line moved quick. I'm from New York and really missed having New York style bagels and this is the best I found in the area so far. (I didn't look very hard though cause this place is pretty close to me.) The coffee is not bad either. However, the customer service is lacking. You do not feel appreciated as a customer, you feel like they see you as an inconvenience, as if you are not paying them. I wish their hours weren't so limited too. If I had some of the experiences the other reviewers are talking about my rating would be much lower. Maybe take into consideration that you don't see anyone raving about the polite and friendly service. I just go for the NY style bagels and suffer the attitude. I was excited to try this place after looking for anything remotely resembling the favorite breakfast of my home state (Jersey). The bagels taste more like rolls and the eggs werent even yellow .. they were rubbery and gray like they had been microwaved. My fiancé asked for a plain bagel with 3 scrambled eggs, there's one egg in there at best. For $8 for 2 garlic bagels plain, his lack luster breakfast and my greasy soggy pastrami sandwich it was worth spending the $24 to know never to waste our money here again. read more

Being from Montreal I refer to the perfect bagel as Montreal bagels and honestly it's exactly the same as New York bagel, boiled then baked to perfection, lovely chewy texture. So when I researched I ifound everywhere the at Clearwater bagels is the best. Went right down there took my life in my hands to get a half a dozen everything bagels. I've been here several times. The bagels and cream cheese are okay, but here's what bothered me.. If you're not going to wear gloves, hand washing MUST be very frequent. Especially when handling money. The last time I went, the same person that took my order, made my bagel. When he reached to take my card, his finger nail was BLACK underneath. They were busy, and I don't like to make a scene, so I threw out the bagel as I left. One other observation. I've noticed any negative reviews are being commented on in a very harsh tone. First off, their bagels and cream cheese are amazing! But... 4 out of 5 times that we went there they got my order wrong. I always order a poppyseed bagel, toasted, with plain cream cheese (not too difficult). The last time we went, I got an un-toasted pumpernickel bagel, and I realized while they make your bagel that they don't wear gloves. OK, so depending on where we are from, our experiences are different. There are two kinds of baking. One way to bake is to boil them in water first. This is exactly what Clearwater Bagel does. This produces an authentic exterior, making it easier to eat with lox and cream cheese. But it is completely different than the OTHER way is simply baking it without boiling the dough in water first. Einstein is an example of simply baking without pre-boiling and it is more of an Impersonator bagel. Panera also pulls off the baking only technique. I am a fan of both. For people who grew up in the East Coast and MidWest, where there are a lot of places that boil their bagels, Clearwater satisfies. Where things seem to go wrong at Clearwater Bagel, and I am CERTAIN the owner knows, is the handling of money and baked goods. No ONE wants to use wax paper sheets. (At the writing of this review - CostCo offers a 500ct box for $3.94. That means they will take roughly a 40 cent loss or something on a dozen?) Either way, whenever I went to a bagel place in the MidWest or New York, they always used a means to protect money germs from the fresh baked goods. This guy doesn't. I have purchased probably a dozen ten times. Every time there are no gloves and no consideration for keeping money germs of the baked goods. Panera does it. Einstein does it. All bakeries do it. But not this guy. I even mentioned it once, and he said 'Excuse me??!?' So I dropped the conversation, with the "tough guy" routine. I honestly do not understand how a guy doing this for decades is so resistant to being smart? Has he never heard of germs? Does he steam clean the coins and paper money? What's the trick? So much of his time goes into the quality of the product; the displaying of the product, the maintenance of the oven and so forth. But that last 40 cent hit: ...just too much for him! Pretty pricey for a small bagel joint. It's been around since the early 80s. I remember going here with my dad when I was younger but for $6 I expect more.
