My husband and I decided to try Cleats again. This time my husband ordered ribs, baked potato and coleslaw. He said it was very good! I had the cajun grouper salad and was very impressed! The huge piece of grouper was seasoned perfectly and not too spicy. The pita bread was good as well. I ordered italian dressing but didn't even use it. We both had the blueberry cream soda drink and it was awesome as well!Melody was our waitress and she was perfect. Everyone who had her as a waitress seemed happy with her. Melody has graduated college with a degree in psychology and is very nice. She is working towards her masters degree. All in all our experience was perfect. The restaurant is clean and everone was friendly. We will be dining there next time with friends! read more

The food here is unique and ever changing. They are always running a monthly special on burgers, so the options are always great. My favorite food is their Lake Erie fries, the seasoning is out of this world. Well worth the upcharge. read more

The food was absolutely terrible. We ordered for pick-up and had to wait for it to be ready. Everything we got was hardly warm or less. It was like it was leftovers from yesterday that they just threw in a warmer today, and it sat there until it was time to bag up at 5pm. * Ordered 20 wings; 10 Buffalo Ranch, 5 Honey Mustard, and 5 Erie Island. The wings were dry and hardly sauced. We also received just Buffalo, not Buffalo Ranch. * An entire order of fries was missing. * The fried chicken tenders had absolutely NO crunch to them and were so dry inside. Completely inedible even for my 3 year old * The cheese inside the Mozzarella Sticks wasn't melted at all. Like a breaded, room temperature string cheese * Beer Cheese Pretzels weren't even warm. I love cleats, and they really do have the best wings. Service is great, and prices are really reasonable. The 5 stars is for my average experience over the years- tonight the food was pretty suspect. The wings tasted like the chicken had turned (if you know that taste then you know what I mean) and the manners burger was so salty I could barely eat it. That being said, during the lockdown restaurants are having a tough time so I'll chalk tonight's experience up to that. All in all though, 99% of the time you won't find a better wing than at cleats. read more

We had dinner on the patio tonight and it was very pleasant. The service was attentive and the food was good. For starters my salad was icy cold- just the way I like it. I tried the Herb Vinaigrette and it was excellent. Just the right tang for my salad. My husband and I both had the grouper dinner, which was very good. My only issue was that the pieces were pretty small. I could have eaten more. ( that's why 4 stars instead of 5) The side veggies were very nice- steamed but still a little crisp! Our friends both ordered the Coconut Shrimp. It came with a pineapple vinaigrette that they said was different, but very good. I had always just thought of this restaurant as a sports bar with typical burgers but they have surprised me recently. Last time I visited, I had the fish tacos and the sauce was interesting. Food was done quickly and served hot. The boneless wings were great, service friendly and very attentive. The down side was the music that was playing was loud, with swearing and screaming. Glad our grandkids were not with us. We considered leaving but the music changed then went back to heavy metal type. A family restaurant should not have that type music playing. We used to live Cleats years ago, so we thought we would stop in here. Wow, not good. Filthy inside. The mens room looks like it hasn't been mopped in weeks, and the tables were sticky. Cheese sticks were cold when they came, not good for $8.99. The $5 side salad was more like a $2 salad and pathetic. The wings were good though, thankfully. The Lake Erie Smoke tater tots were good but too salty. Not some place we will come back to. The bartender we swore was doing shots with the people at the bar too. Very odd. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by this place! We stopped here to eat because it was a Sunday night and nothing else was open but we will be making a point of coming back. Stopped in on the afternoon of St. Patrick's Day and they were busier than we've seen in a long time. They have daily specials and dollar off domestic draft beers until 7:00. We just ordered a couple of burgers and a couple of beers. Despite being busy, the manager and server did a good job of taking care of us tag team style. Drinks came out quickly and the burgers weren't far behind. The prices are reasonable, $10 for a burger and one side. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Five stars based on customer service alone. Last weekend I placed a carry out order for three separate orders of 24 wings. I called hours in advance since I felt it was a good amount of food for a birthday party. When I went to pickup my order, they mistakenly only prepared 1 order of 24 wings. I was disappointed, but no big deal, I still wanted the rest of my order. They said it would take 15 minutes, so I said I'd come back for the rest. When I returned, I reached for my wallet, and the bartender/waitress said "It's all comped, it was our mistake so you're all set." It was a classy way to handle a mistake, and I really appreciated their response. I don't live in the area, but it's a nice sports bar setup that also has a large outdoor patio. So we were looking for somewhere to go in a small town that closes after 9. It was close to 10:30pm and we found this place in a small plaza just down the road from our inn. They had "best wings in the world" listed on the entry way but they were by far the worst I've ever had. We ordered some wings which they sell by the pound at market price so it was 5 wings for about $5. Not bad price wise. A list of about 13 sauce and we chose sweet heat which I thought was a spicy and sweet combo and bourbon BBQ. Both sauces were disappointing and the wings were not crispy but just almost tasted baked with no seasoning, completely bland!!! The sauce gave it some life but it just tasted like sugar with a hint of bourbon. The sweet heat was awful!! It was literally blazing hot, no flavor just complete burn with maybe a pinch of sugar. The hubby was so displeased that he wasted 3 of his wings. On the up side I did enjoy my caesar salad and the honey chipotle chicken tacos. The chicken was nice crispy but not overly warm. It was still better then those wings we ate. Not much else to say about this place other than the array of music that played and sports on TV. The beer was satisfying but most beers are usually. I took my elderly parents there today when all the restaurants in this town were closed due to Labor Day. I was apprehensive about taking them to a sports bar/tavern but was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and the good food and service we received there. We had the chicken dumpling soup which was really hearty and filling and definitely homemade. I had ordered the coconut shrimp which was excellent and had a generous portions. My dad had a Hamburger that was huge and he said it was delicious! I am so glad that we found this place on our travels. I am from out of town but am so glad we found this gem! read more

My husband and I couldn't remember why we haven't come to this Cleat's in over a year - then we ordered our beers and remembered. Their "tall" 16 ounce beers are OUTRAGEOUSLY priced. Both our beers were warm and somewhat flat. My husbands food was OK at best, but I got the Beer Cheese Sliders - they didn't come with fries or chips, and were absolutely flavorless. Not that I was expecting gourmet food, but I don't want to have to slather Ketchup and Ranch on my burger just to get some flavor. Then the bill came :( Would you believe the 16 oz "tall" beer I ordered was $7.00?! That is the most I have ever paid for a draft beer at a sports bar. I could have bought a 6 pack of the exact same beer for that price! I would be willing to overlook the food not being good, I would just get something else next time. But to charge that much for drinks should be illegal. Oh, and don't order Ranch on the side because it costs $.75. Needless to say we will NEVER be returning to Cleats when there are so many other places that have good food and drink at reasonable prices. read more

We used to love Cleats when they were in Warren so when we saw this one we were excited. We used our Yelp! Check in bonus to score a free appetizer of fried mozzarella and it was really good. Crunchy exterior and oooey gooey center. Excellent start. From there the meal pales -- my daughter had a chicken Caesar pita with about 4 small cubes of chicken to it and both my sister and I ordered the Wednesday Wing special of boneless wings for 59 cents. They were good sized but he breaking was way too much and way over done. The large fry was HUGE and we had way too many to eat -- and they went cold fast. I would recommend it for a table app for sharing as it was so large and if it was hot would have been great. read more

It's a lazy version of Applebees. Service was slower, unattentive wait staff at times. Quality of food was fair, expect a cheaper cut of everything with meat. Drinks tasted like watered down soda. After bringing it up two separate occasions, wait staff acted like we had the problem. Several times waiting to leave, it took 15 minutes or more to get our card back after paying. Food is fairly cheap, it's tolerable in most situations, but would recommend no mixed drinks and simpler meals. Ribs and steaks are poor quality. read more

This was my first Cleats experience. I was so upset after we sat down when our waitress was COMPLETELY MIA. Finally, literally two seconds before my hungry husband was ready to huff out, someone took our order. Then someone else sort of brought our drinks (they brought the wrong thing) then the first person brought the right ones. Then someone else brought our food and well into it, "our" waitress finally stopped by. She was horrible. She insulted her other large table who was obviously frustrated with her. But that's her- I don't think all of them are like that. The food was ok - the standard "we're dipping chicken nuggets in sauce and calling it boneless wings" affair. The curly fries were just like Arby's - I would have preferred non-battered fries. The chili cheese fry was MASSIVE - I don't know WHO could ever eat that. They should warn you that it's enough for four people. It was ok - too much chili and not enough cheese. The sauces were alright. Sweet heat was way to hot for people like me that love a good sweet heat sauce. I couldn't find any vinegar based sauces. At least the price wasn't outrageous and the atmosphere was OK. read more

Cleats was known to be one of the places to go in Chardon!! Not anymore!! The food served to you rarely looks even remotely like the pictures lately!! The taste has gone downhill recently!! I saw a customer at neighboring table find a long hair in their food!! If you sit at the bar you can see in the kitchen and I saw a recent employee, a small woman with white hair digging her crotch while cooking!! Then I just noticed two new people who are rather large cooking with very poor hygiene from what I can see!! I think I will just go elsewhere for food!! They need to clean this place up!! read more

Something has happened here that is not positive. A noticeable lack of customers on a recent visit for one. I am not pleased with their new menu since some of my favorites were removed. The burger I had was unremarkable. Not good by most standards. Service was acceptable. Other diner had a Reuben which was also acceptable., noticeable lack of flavor was the comment. I ordered a tall Bud Light and it was warm, but other than that the food was delicious. For an appetizer we ordered the mixer elks planks which were cooked to perfection. I also ordered baked potato soup which was homemade and the perfect temperature. The table ordered 24 wings (hot, medium and hot garlic Parmesan) the hot and medium were great, but they brought out garlic Parmesan instead of the hot garlic Parmesan that were ordered. We also ordered 24 fried shrimp with the same flavors and the same dilemma occurred with the garlic Parmesan instead of hot garlic Parmesan that was ordered. The service was fantastic, and it was totally affordable for the amount of food we ordered. They said worlds best wings on the door, I would not put them in that category, but they're definitely very close. I would recommend people going to cleats in charfon! read more
