Family headed there just before 7 on a Saturday night. We were seated promptly and our waitress Heidi came over quickly. We placed our drinks order and ordered for our son. His meal was quickly prepared and that was appreciated. I got the smaller just a taste with maple sweet on her recommendation. I wish I had gone maple hot but that's on me. The pretzels and beer cheese are amazing - like last meal on earth amazing. The wings were crispy and sauced nicely. Husband got the bigger just a taste with ribs. Everything was prepared quickly and was delicious. One of our favorite casual restaurants in the area - we plan to go back! read more

Best pulled pork I've had this side of Maine and the baked beans & baked potato were a treat as well. The corn bread waffle was tiny but tasty and the draught IPA from Columbus just right. My mom loved her 1lb garlic butter mussels and my dad the ribs, Nice, weathered atmosphere and the wait staff was friendly & responsive. Apparently their Friday Prime Rib and Friday Fish Fry are worth a visit. We'll be back! read more

Maple City taps is we building that looks like it's been around for 200 years no lie. When you walk in you see hand hewn beams. You have low ceilings and to look at the actual structure and architecture of the place you know it is very very old. Turns out it actually is very very old! I have a buddy that goes here who is a regular and I can always tell if he's there because he generally takes the same parking spot in the parking lot he's like Norm from cheers everyone knows his name! At first it looked kind of intimidating because there are a lot of blue collar and biker people at this bar and truth be told there are. But every time I've been here I've never felt more comfortable or more welcome. The beer is normally ice cold from draft and that's something that I don't take lightly. The last time we were there our waitress could not have been nicer or more prompt with my ice cold beer. My go-to meal every single time I go here is the grandma burger. I know there's a ton of stuff on the menu but I keep going back to the grandma Burger cuz it's so God dang good. I really like the fries too but because I'm fat I have to get a salad instead of fries. The grandma Burger kind of has Big Mac sauce on it which is why I like it. The bathroom reminds me of a restroom in a camper it's that small but remember the building is 6000 years old. They also have a pretty cool patio. Overall I haven't had a bad meal here but if you were at all into civil war era buildings it would be cool just to go in here and look at the beans and get a grandma Burger while you're doing so! read more

Long time rib eater at MCT, really enjoyed their maple BBQ sauce in the past. I just had the ribs on the 16 Sept. 25 they were very meaty but very skimpy on the sauce and not as flavorful as the last time. My son had the Cajun rubbed and he was also a little disappointed flavor wise. read more

An under-the-radar bar/restaurant in Geauga County that is an absolute gem. Been here numerous times and have always been very pleased with the food and service. Fairly typical bbq fare but always good, very generous portions and reasonably priced. Kind of a rustic/log cabin decor that is more comfortable than fancy. Decent enough brew selection. Service has alway been good, not polished, but familiar and pleasant. Bathroom is a little tight. Great spot if you want something casual and a nice cold beer. read more

We had Greg at Maple Taps cater an 80th birthday party this weekend (Memorial Day weekend), and although the restaurant was closed over the holiday weekend, Greg accommodated our order and did a fantastic job. The pulled pork, chicken breasts, green beans, Mac and cheese, and corn bread waffles were all delicious. I would highly recommend for a catering event, or even stop in to have dinner, which we've done many times. read more

This was definitely a gem we stumbled on thanks to yelp. We were a bit curious when we walked in to a dark bar atmosphere but our waitress warmed us right up by sitting in our booth and explaining the menu to us. She was so friendly and personable. She gave us suggestions on the menu and suggestions of where to go afterward for ice cream. The pulled pork dinner was phenomenal, the different homemade sauces were flavorful. Sweet and spicy was more spicy! I enjoyed the honey bbq which also had a bit of a burn. The mac and cheese was so creamy but for $1.50 extra the portion was a bit small for the upcharge. The slaw was also phenomenal but a very small plastic cup, I could have used more with my pork! The meat was tender with no fat (hallelujah!) My dad enjoyed his burger and fries, no complaints there! Beer on tap was a good selection, they had games to play and complimentary popcorn to enjoy. Definitely not a fancy place and the floors were kinda slippery from idk what but the food was awesome and the service was even better, we luckily sat by a big bright front window otherwise It would have been too dark for our preference. This is my favorite BBQ place! Absolutely love the pulled pork with the original sauce, it has a great smoky flavor. Love the burgers too. The wife really enjoys the fish fry and the Buffalo chicken salad. We've always been treated well there especially by Gabby and Sherri! You guys are awesome! We live about 15 miles away and it's worth the trip. During the height of COVID they were very serious about the protocol. The place is always clean and tidy even though it has the look and vibe of a roadhouse. If you like a casual atmosphere and good food make sure to stop in, just don't take MY table!! read more

My husband and I go here on the regular. We absolutely love the staff, the selection of beer, and just the atmosphere all around. We go here the most during lent when they offer the absolute best fish fry in town. However, my husband swears he cannot find a better tasting pizza then their white pizza with sausage and jalapeños. Oh, and the free endless popcorn doesn't help. I love this place. I live down the road and come here often for dinner. The portions are big and the food is good for a good price! During lent I had the fish fry friday and it was amazing and HUGE, 2 people can share. I've also had some of the salads, pizza and appetizers. Highly recommend. read more

This has been our go- to spot for months. They opened as soon they could after Covid, making sure to put the right precautions in place. All back to normal now, but I think it shows their commitment to the neighborhood and location. It's nothing fancy, but the food is great, the servers are awesome- especially Kim. It's truly a favorite local restaurant and bar. Tonight my husband ordered the mussels in a tomato sauce and I had the pulled pork sandwich. The mussels were nice & plump and perfectly done. The pulled pork had a choice of sauces and I haven't had one yet that I didn't like. Tonight I had the spicy maple and it was delicious. Just the right balance of smoke, spice and heat. Beer was ice cold, and our server made sure she stopped by before they were empty to see if we were ready for more. Great local place in Chardon. I really would like to give this place a good review because the food is good. Actually, the best fish fry I have ever had. BUT, the service is horrible! We gave this place four tries. Three of the four times we had such a rude waitress that it felt like we were in the twilight zone. I can not believe this waitress gets away with how she treats her customers. By far, the worst place I have been to in several years. Hostess was an absolutely rude introduction to the establishment. Her answer to our seating timeline was "could be 10 or twenty minutes or an hour...". Once we were seated, our table was missing both a chair for everyone and the high chair we had requested for my grandchild, leaving my daughter standing there holding the baby. Server had a really sour attitude, like we were there to make her life hell. Service was slow. Food took forever and was fair at best. Server had no regard for my 20 month old grandchild, placing plate after plate right within her reach. My family talked me out of not leaving a tip for the server. Certainly did not deserve what little she got. Would not recommend this place, especially for a larger party (6) or if you have a child. read more

We walked in and it wasn't very busy which was fantastic. We thought quick bite and then go home. We sat down in a booth of our choosing, and then waited for at least 20 minutes until we got our drink orders in and menus. The waitress didn't tell us the specials of the night we had to ask. We also watched her eat some meals in between shots with the staff. Over an hour in we finally Got the sampler and we split a burger and fries. The burger was decent- nothing special and the rest of the food was so greasy and over fried. This was our second try at this place since we heard the wings were so good and staff was so quick. Both times were like this which sucks because it's close to home. Unfortunately, I don't see this place staying open forever. read more

Wow, what a great little find. The place is NOT fancy, Has a few locals hugging the bar in the corner who stare you down when you arrive but... Food was excellent, service was fast, friendly but not invasive, price is reasonable and has a huge menu for "bar food". The deluxe chili was flavorful and loaded with corn salsa, tortilla strips and flavored perfectly. Ribs were as good as any ribs at a rib cook-offs. Tried the maple wings and a pizza with pulled pork on it. While the maple wings were good, I wasn't as impressed with them as their reputation led me to believe. We stopped here after visiting Holden Arboretum, and I must say it does look like a hole-in-the-wall place, but don't let appearances fool you! This place was hopping with locals, our waitress was friendly and patient (love the warm welcome, smiles, and attentive service), and the food was pretty dang good! It is a bit dark inside, and there is nothing fancy about this place, but they have plenty of tv's, free popcorn to much on, and delicious BBQ. On Sunday's they have 10% off BBQ so I went with the ribs and pulled pork $14.99 and it came with two sides (coleslaw and garlic parm fries) and garlic bread. My date went with the BBQ chicken breasts $9.99 and got regular fries and mac & cheese. They make all of their own sauces and they have a ton of them, but the waitress will let you sample some to help you decide. I went with the sweet & spicy for my ribs, the golden BBQ for my pork, and the spicy ranch (definitely has a kick!) for dipping my fries in. My ribs had a wonderful crispy bark on them, they weren't huge (and watch out for that cartilage), but my mouth really enjoyed eating them. Pulled pork tasted awesome with that golden BBQ sauce (it's a mustard base) and I enjoyed the homemade cream based coleslaw as well (came out in the same 3-4oz containers that the sauce came in so don't expect gluttonous portions). Fries are fresh cut which is always great in my book. I had a bite of the white "gourmet" mac & cheese and it was just okay, but my date enjoyed it. He also liked the tender chicken that he got. This place is pretty far from where I live, but if in the neighborhood again I would definitely hit it up! read more

Excellent meal at Maple City Taps & Eatery! We started with the wings as an appetizer with the Maple BBQ sauce the wings were meaty and crispy - with just the right amount of the delicious sauce. Some of the best wings I have had. Our table had the BBQ ribs and BBQ pizza. All were delicious! The sauces for the ribs (selected by each individual) were excellent and the ribs were moist and tender. The pizza was delicious and the dough was great. Definitely worth the try!!! read more

Even here numerous times and the food is always well above average and a nice atmosphere. Most times though our waitress is nonexistent. It's to bad, the food and drinks always good. Maybe be more selective in the hiring process and profit margins would rise. I would hate to see this area lose this place , but poor service can kill a place like this. read more

I'll start the review with the better part of the visit. The food was good. It wasn't great but I enjoyed the ribs and Maple barbecue sauce. The boneless skinless chicken breast with the Rancho sauce wasn't anything special. In fact, it could have been a frozen chicken breast heated up then slathered in sauce. My wife had the Maple Chicken sandwich. She also felt her chicken breast was frozen due some of the tough parts in the meat. Normally, I'd consider going back just for the ribs but everything else we experienced during our Saturday dinner visit will prevent me from going back. It was busy, whether that was normal for the Saturday dinner rush or not I don't know, and there was a sign that said to seat ourselves. We took a quick stroll through the restaurant and found only one empty table, which was right next to the women's restroom and the pool table and bowling machine. Not only were we stuck in probably the worst table in the joint, the table was uneven and filthy, but not as filthy as the rest of the place. Literally, my chicken breast, which was brought out after my ribs and on a separate plate, was sliding toward the edge of the table. I used to watch live bands there many years ago. I'm pretty sure it was cleaner back then when it was a dive bar. It still smelled the same...stale beer. The floor was disgusting as well. They have popcorn available at the front of the restaurant. If you're too lazy to get up to fill your bowl you can scrape some off the floor. I'm pretty sure that's what the guy in the kitchen does. When I saw him, he was stuffing his mouth with food with his left hand and digging a spoon out of the trash can with his other hand. Yes, he was digging a spoon out of the trash can. Later, this same guy was out salting the stairs thanks to a spring snowstorm then returned directly to the kitchen with his big bag of salt and dirty clothes. Now to the service. Again, the place was busy. But, that's no excuse for just being rude. We seated ourselves and waited a few minutes for our server to address us. That wasn't an issue. She slowed just enough to take our drink order. Had she stopped and said hello she may have noticed how filthy the table was. When she delivered our food she didn't ask if we needed anything else and she didn't return until it was time to bring our bill. I was eating ribs. It would have been nice to have an extra napkin. I guess that was too much to ask. Overall, the food was good enough to warrant two stars. But, unless you like to eat in filth you might want to consider another option. I think the place needs to decide if it's going to be a dive bar or a restaurant. Either is OK but it's hard to have both. You can't have disgusting people working in the kitchen and violating health codes. On the restaurant's web site it says, "Our friendly, warm staff, delicious Cleveland Bar-b-que and beer selections will make you want to keep coming back! " The friendly, warm staff part isn't accurate. Delicious barbecue was a bit of a stretch, but the ribs certainly were good. I had a Guinness...can't screw that up. Geauga County doesn't have many quality restaurants. The list of potentials shrunk even more after this visit. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! It's not much to look at, but the food is simply the best. I get the same thing every time I go, their pulled pork platter. The pork is so delicious, especially when you pair it with one of their home made maple based BBQ sauces. I went to another BBQ place in Chesterland (one that is rate really well by the Food Network) and Maple City blows them away! I can't wait to go back to Maple City! read more
