Came here on a Saturday night and it was super busy. Sat at the bar for awhile and got some drinks. This is the type of place where middle-aged people go to act like college kids again. They sell buckets of beer and the place is loud and busy. If it's nice outside, I'd recommend it, as it's probably quieter. You're not going to get top-notch service or selection here, but if you're thirsty and hungry, it will do. They make the potato chips and fries in-house and those are rather tasty, albeit greasy. I settled on fish tacos, as it's one of the few non-fried items on the menu. They had just the right amount of kick to them. Just left Cleats after grabbing lunch. We have our two dogs with us for the weekend and wanted a place they could join us on the patio. After reading some reviews, this seemed like a great option. Our server John (I'm 95% sure that's his name) was great. We brought our own dog water bowl and he took it inside and filled it up for us. Food was delicious and service was great. After 25 minutes and not being seated, we left. No one else in line when we got there at 1:20. Yes they did tell us a few times that they would be with us shortly. As a tourist I know that my opinion is not valuable to locals. However as a tourist this is the best sports bar that I've seen in a 15 square-mile area. We came here to watch the Blackhawks game and the bar is huge the drinks are cheap and the food is good enough. Service left a lot to be desired, but for some reason on Friday night they only had one bartender on for seventy plus people so I understand why the service wasn't that great. I fish walleye for 4 days every may in Port Clinton, I will come to cleats every trip! read more

We had heard good things about Cleats so decided to go there to celebrate Mother's Day. What a mistake! The waitress warned us about the price of the perch, but after telling her I loved good perch I ordered it anyway. That was a big mistake. It was overcooked, dried out and barely warm. It was like eating shoe leather. Our baked potatoes were ice cold. When we put butter on them it did not even begin to melt. The waitress apologized and offered to send the potatoes back - twenty minutes later we did get hot potatoes. The waitress was sweet and tried to be accommodating, but the 2 meals were definitely not worth the $50 we paid. After paying our bill we waited for awhile thinking a manager might come and apologize. Nope! What a disappointment . Honestly, one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Our server was slow and forgot straws, refills, and even the complimentary chips she was giving us since we had to wait so long for her to take our food order. Food took too long and when I asked when it would arrive she was rude and made excuses. The manager was also rude and when I asked for a new server she showed up 15 minutes later. New server and old server had a great laugh in earshot about how they forgot about my table. Food was decent. Will never return. read more

My family and I just went to cleats today and we were waiting in the lobby when one of the hostesses came up to us and rudely told us to disperse. She did not do it in a very friendly way at all, she said that our party was too large and that half of us would have to wait outside. There was another large party in the lobby waiting and nothing was said to them about having to wait outside. This hostess was very rude, this could have been handled in a much gentler way instead of being curt and impudent. We didn't even have a chance to try the food because we were disturbed by how rude the hostess was to our family. read more

Our family is usually around the area in the summer, but we've never eaten here. I just happened to see they had brunch with Santa, so 6 of us including two 4 year olds came. We had the best time, food and service. The buffet served all the things the kids loved, mac and cheese, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, eggs, bacon, pancakes, and desserts. Since we were there at noon, we could also order from the menu. The food was fresh and the service staff was so helpful. Our server Leslie was the best! After the kids were finished with their food, tables were set up with easy Christmas crafts for the kids to make and tables with sugar cookies and decorating supplies so the kids could decorate their own cookies. Santa was available for chatting and pictures. This was an absolutely wonderful day for adults and kids! We will definitely come back in the summer and make brunch with Santa our new Christmas tradition! read more

This is a good sized restaurant with a good sized bar as well. You can probably find any sporting event you are interested in on one of their many televisions. Love the daily food and drink specials here. While most talk up their wings, I'm not a fan of them. They do have great ribs and sandwiches. I especially love their hangover melt. When you order sliders with cheese and they come without the fix was cold and unmelted so you have to send back again?? We are at Cleats yesterday afternoon about 4pm. The hostess was clearly too busy to be polite. Walked five steps in front of us, setting the menus at a booth. Within the same breath, she picked them up and moved them to another table, in the middle of the dining room. Before we could ask why she changed her mind, she was off with no mention of enjoy your meal, etc. We stood for a moment and decided as a group that we'd rather have the booth, so we moved the menus. The same "hostess" came from around the corner and screamed at us that the table was dirty, as though she were having a temper tantrum. The entire dining room stopped and stared. Pandemic or not, completely unacceptable. The service after was unfortunate and the food was subpar. We've been looking forward to eating here - first time we could get in without a wait. I used to love the fresh cut fries which are now those awful "battered fries". Not even edible. ( Everybody at my table agreed). Love this place!! We go up to the lake a lot. And this is one place we will always stop for a drink and lunch. The view is great and every staff member I speak to there is always so nice!! And normally I would not say get the potato chips, but get the potato chips and BACON RANCH!! You had me at Bacon and had me at Ranch!! No complains on Cleats!!
