After my favorite nail place closed down, I was mortified I wouldn't be able to find the kind of care I have previously received. Cleo's makes for a nice replacement to my old haunt. It is a very spacious and cleanly operating nail salon. They have massage chairs for pedicures, tvs to watch (usually when I go there it's on nature programming), and also play pop music. So it definitely isn't a stuffy atmosphere. They also have an interesting selection of specialty nail jobs. I haven't tried any, but for a special occasion I may come in and see. I suppose one of the best things I loved about my old place is being recognized when going there. Here, it hasn't happened yet because I've only gone a couple of times. It definitely makes a difference when you walk in and the staff looks as you has a familiar face rather than a sale. They have a nice sized parking lot in the back, which depending on the time of day will probably get busy due to the restaurant next door. read more

After a relaxing day at the spa, I looked down at my feet and said damn I really need a pedicure lmao.. So I was coming from Great Neck and Cleo Nails & Spa kept coming up top on the list for pedicures on Yelp. I read a few great reviews and one detailing a horrible experience from someone I follow on Yelp and that had me so hesitant to give them a try. But I talked myself into going just to see for myself and I am so glad that I did. Upon entrance I was greeted by whom I want to assume was the owner. She just was exuding this boss attitude lol but she told me to choose and color and I told her I wanted a pedicure. All the other workers were occupied doing gel manicures so she walked me over to the pedicure station which is very nice might I add. I said what kinds of pedicures do you do and she pointed to the wall where they had all their specials listed and what they included. I decided on the $28 Jello Pedicure because I was intrigued and it included a hot stone massage which made me excited to try lol. A man came in a he took over my pedicure and he was amazing. He was very detailed and I loved everything about the pedicure. He took his time with me and I felt good when it was done. The massage chairs they have are comfortable also and I just fell in love with this place. I am thinking about switching to making it my regular spot but I have loyalty issues lol. I'm always on the hunt for a new go-to mani-pedi places. I came here last Sunday to get a pedi. When I walked in I was the first customer in the joint! I had the pleasure to being treated with my very own space heater (a first from the many nails places I've visited!). It wasn't that it was cold inside the salon but the owner (I'm assuming the owner) wanted me to warm up from the cold outside! This crazy cold winter we are having has made my heels so dry! Upon looking for callous removal, this place popped up with another reviewer mentioning how baby booty smooth her feet were! I opted to get the Spa 2 pedi (I think this is what it was called - it cost $45). After about an hour and a half of pure feet heaven, my polish was dry and my heels/feet were baby booty smooth. The customer service in this place is superb. My nail technician was concerned about my nails getting ruined when I put them back in my uggs - so she wrapped it in saran wrap to protect it! Loved the service I recently got here from Cleo Nails. All the nail technicians are friendly and professional. The place itself is comfortable and clean. Relax and watch some TV (there are 2 big screen TVs!) while you get pampered and massaged away during a pedicure. Ahhhh... The massage chair recliners look brand new and clean. The technicians also use disposable instruments (I think this is pretty standard nowadays to prevent infection). I would definitely suggest getting the free membership card so you can earn points for future services. Another BIG PLUS is that they have a parking lot! This nail salon has really changed since the past few years. Their service has declined drastically. I went to get a gel manicure and in two days it started to chip and the polish came off. Then I went back and she reapplied gel on three of my fingers were it chipped. Then the next day it came off again. Never going back. They need to improve on their quality of their polish. I dropped in, told her what I needed and by what time I had to leave. She did it and It was a job well done. My gel French lasted in beautiful condition for 3 weeks. The price was goodand I was out of there with time to spare. I gave it one star less bc it's really no-frills but the gloves for the UV light are a plus. Update: went in a second time, almost at closing, they took care of me right away. Mia again did a fantastic, no rush, very skilled French gel. Price was excellent for the service. I came here with my girls for mani pedis. My girl Alicia is a regular here. She loves their gel manicures. She also likes the way they wax eyebrows. I enjoyed my pedicure. They scrubbed my feet and massaged my feet very well. They did all the procedures well however they sell the cheapest nail polish ever! My nails chipped legit like two hours after I left the salon. Nice place. Here's a list of their positives: 1) For their gel manicures, they offer these white gloves with the tips cut off so their clients won't be as exposed to the UV. So smart! 2) Their nail filers and buffers are disposables. Every time you go they open a new pack. Awesome! 3) There's free parking in the back which they share with other businesses but both times I went I got parking. 4) You can sign up for a free membership where you get points. I had a "nail" emergency today. The manicurist that I've been going to for the past 25 years was sick today. My nails were in dire straits. I live in the New Hyde Park area , and decided to look for reviews on yelp for help! Cleo nails received wonderful reviews. I had great trepidation about using another manicurist. But, I armed myself with courage. Cleo nails is an immaculate nail salon. I was more than pleased with the glue manicure and replacement of some silk wraps that Anna provided with much skill and excellence. I will absolutely use the salon again when my manicurist is ill or on an extended vacation. I feel a loyalty after 25 years, otherwise I would most happily continue to use Cleo nails! read more

This place used to be so good, especially Sonia. She was the only one that didn't rush through the manicure and pedicure. Now all the nail technicians just rush through the service, just touching then nails with the cuticle cutter. It's a disgrace how bad this place is now. I was a long time customer. Told my whole family to come here. After the past 2x, I will no longer be going here. They barely cut or touch up the cuticles, air bubbles when nail polish was done applying and inaccurate wait times. I would've gladly went somewhere else but they kept saying 20 min, so I waited an hour for subpar service and manicure? No thank you. Do not go here. For last few years, I have come to this place, biweekly. I enjoyed their company, and I enjoyed that we always had a conversation, etc. I decided to get a new gel set, and was guaranteed by the manicurist, that it would last me longer than the set I had on before - lasted me 12 weeks - So I didn't mind paying $65 dollars for it. But, FOUR days later, I took the nail polish off and two nails popped off, and they were all lifting. I understand that they have no refund policy, but I paid almost 100$ with a gel set, and a pedicure. Not to be taken lightly. Then, blamed me for having sweaty hands. Meanwhile, I had a different set on for more than 3 months. Then, they proceeded to rip the lifted nails off my nails - creating my nails to become damaged and sensitive. They then offered a new set and a gift certificate, and I demanded a refund. Because, I don't want to have to go through another almost 2 hours of taking off the nails that I had on, and putting a new one on. And then, having to come back less than a week later for them to fix their mistakes. When I gave them my credit card to put the money back onto it, the owner proceeded to rip the card out of my hand, and when giving me the receipt for the refund to sign he practically ripped the pen and paper out of my hands. Customer service, not good at all. You can't blame the person for wanting their money for something that was done in a bad way. Very unprofessional. It used to be called Lavender nails now Cleo. Obviously I was a regular customer up until a few days ago. The owner (the man) is the nastiest person you can ever come across and his side kick (the older heavy set and short Asian woman) is the nastiest woman ever. Recently I was very unhappy with my nails as he did a TERRIBLE job on my acrylics. Not even 12 hours later and there were gaps under my nails, they were lifting? And the paint job was horrific. I went back the next day to have them fixed. I wanted them removed so I could go back a few days later to have my usual girl to my nails (Anne). As soon as I walked in those two began yelling at me and laughing at me. After being verbally attacked in English (and korean), the Asian woman got in my face screamed at me, skimmed her finger at my nose pointing at me in the face...that's when I lost it. I stood up and got in her face as well. She then proceeded to call me a bitch and not mannered. Mind you, I asked them to please remove my nails and told him I'd be back on Wednesday to have them redone the right way by Anne in the following days. The entire time I took the verbal assault by both of them with grace and professionally. Things got heated when she (again) got directly in my face and pointed her finger at me nearly touching me. The fight was so bad the man stood up and started screaming again to the point where other customers noticed. He then RIPPED OFF my acrylics and gave me back my money. For being a loyal customer for 6 years the customer service I received was HORRIBLE and I've been loyal to that place for YEARS bringing my friends and family along too and introducing them to this establishment. I would NEVER in my life go back to this place. Ladies and gents, don't give this place your business. If they can treat their loyal customers that poorly I wouldn't recommend going here. I was in that place every week for pedicures. The only pitfall was that they don't do nail designs but I should've called ahead and asked. My acrylics lasted about 2 weeks before one fell off. I've been coming here for years and they're so friendly and welcoming. They take the time to know their customers on a first name basis and actually talk and interact with you unlike other salons where you can go a full manicure without being spoken to once. If they don't get it perfect or at least the way you like it they are always willing to go the extra mile to re-do it or make sure you get exactly what you want. If a nail chips or breaks within a day or so I just go back and they always fix it free of charge. And the owner does an amazing job on eyebrows! I won't go anywhere else to get my eyebrows done. This was my first time here. I prefer to wait until I have visited a place numerous times before I give my opinion. I will share my experience thus far. Their most expensive pedicure is $60.00. I asked for the "special" pedi which was ($23.00) it comes with a hot stone massage. It wasn't really worth the extra $ vs. the 18.00 regular pedi which is the same thing minus the stone. (The Regular pedi still comes with the manual massage) which lasts about a minute each foot. Cons: I disliked that I wasn't given a thorough exfoliation of my feet. I understand that you have to pay more for callus removal and such but I didn't expect that but I expected at least a through scrubbing with the exfoliating towel and the other tools she used on me. My foot still feels how it felt before I came in here. I feel I could have done a better job exfoliating at home. It only lasted about a 30 secs each foot. Pros: brand new tools for each client! Very important to me! Also, was given a manual 30 sec neck/shoulder massage while my toes dried. Which is not always provided every salon you visit! It was a pleasant surprise. I don't think I would come here again (just personal preference) but it is a nice, clean and spacious salon. Another pro: I came at 5pm on a Tuesday. I've had mixed experiences at Cleo. The positives are that I haven't waited long when I've called and then gone or even just as a walk in. The pricing is comparable with other local places so their hours make them a strong option. However, I will not be going back. On Sunday 12/9, I got a powder gel manicure, which usually lasts about two weeks. The following Thursday 12/13, one of my nails came completely off - in one solid piece. It looked like the color was a press on nail. I went back and they fixed it for no charge and I said to myself, ok it's not a big deal. Well, now today, Monday 12/17 a different nail has come off all in one piece. This is unacceptable for a $35 powder gel manicure. I've paid less and gotten 3 weeks out of one before from other places. Be warned! read more

Nasty attitudes! I decided to drive here today based on the great reviews, however, it will be my last time ever coming here! I was intrigued by the Jello Pedicure and was interested in finding out more about it. I walked in and asked a woman about the Jello Pedicure. I asked her simple questions such as the price and if the Jello Pedicure has any specific benefits such as soothing callous or hydrating the skin etc. Yelpers, you would think that I was asking this woman her social security and bank account numbers! She began to appear visibly IRRITATED, didn't answer my questions and basically just tried to rush me! I kept my composure but for a minute I really questioned if I should give them my hard earned money. I proceeded to sit down and another customer began to talk to me briefly, when this same woman is waving her hands and raising her voice from the back demanding me to pick a color. I told her to please just provide me with one minute because I was getting suggestions from the customer when she kept demanding that I pick a color! She basically tried to make me feel like I was an annoyance as opposed to respecting me as a potential customer of her establishment. I proceeded to ask her for her name when she responded, "For What?!" After her response, I walked right out. I didnt feel welcomed at all. What a nasty, nasty woman! I am not sure if she is the owner but she was a complete embarrassment to all of the hard working nail salons in New York! She was an older asian woman, short and on the heavier side. If you see this woman...run for the hills. I am trying to not use the race card, but I can't help but wonder if that was the reason why she was so disrespectful.
