Best Mediterranean on West Bank, super fresh and flavorful food, customer service always 10/10

Best lunch on the Westbank and arguably in the entire New Orleans area. Not sure how they make their rice so good, but its some of the best I've ever had. Great place to eat. My favorite dish is the gyro and chicken platter with a side of vegetable soup. The portion side is great to share with a date which is good if you want to try multiple dishes. The staff is friendly and make you feel welcome. The cook takes great details on crafting the dishes. Always have a great tasting meal. read more

I was beyond pleased with all aspects of my experience! The atmosphere was very authentic and quiet and the complementary pita we received was very fresh and warm. We also got a Greek salad and chicken shawarma. Everything was extremely fresh and the portions weren't too small or too large- they were just the perfect size. Not too pricey either. And our waiter was the cherry on top! He was kind, helpful, attentive, and made our experience all the better. I will definitely be returning here. read more

Local unassuming restaurant in a strip mall, not your jam? Well, you are missing out! This place is wonderful!!! (yes, worth the 3 exclamation points) Enjoyed dinner here on a Friday night. The pita was warm and delicious. Started with the Fried Cauliflower and Eggplant. This dish was very tasty. Also ordered was the Steak Kabob which my husband said he would come back for again and again. I had the Sauteed Vegetable Plate and it was enough for three people. The Lebanesse Iced Tea and the Fresh Mint Lemonade would quench any thirst. Both very sweet, which we enjoyed. I imagine this Summer I will be craving that Lemonade (more like a slush). This is our go to place when we have a group of people. There are always lots of room for large groups. Today we had a group of 13 of us and they accommodated us without any problems. Have been here many times and the food is always consistently great. The gyro and chicken shawarma are too of my favorites. Also try the lentil soup, I think it's the best in the city. The people working here are always polite and helpful. I will continue to enjoy this place. read more

I ate at Cleopatra for the first time many, many years ago when it first opened and remembered it being good. Even though it's five minutes away from my house, I always forget about it because it's tucked away in a lonely strip on Manhattan that doesn't get a lot of foot traffic. I randomly decided to dine here again for dinner because I was in the mood for Mediterranean. The inside is spacious but very plain and simple. The decor could use a little sprucing up because it seems a little old and outdated. There were a ton of open tables and it was pretty empty for a Friday night. I'm not sure how much business they get regularly for dine-in, but to-go orders seemed steady. To start, we were given complimentary pita with olive oil and a plate of veggies. My bf and I ordered the Cleopatra platter to split as an appetizer. It came with falafel, hummus, kibbi, yogurt, veggies and grape leaves. The falafel was my favorite, delicious and the perfect amount of crispiness with a lot of flavor. I'm still thinking about how tasty it was! It was my first time sampling grape leaves and I wasn't crazy about them; maybe they're an acquired taste? We also split the steak kabobs and gyro plate. You get a choice of the lentil soup or a salad with your entree, so we ended up with a lot of food we couldn't finish. The steak kabobs were a little disappointing and not as tender as I expected, so I probably wouldn't re-order. The gyro plate was really good though, as was the service. The prices are very reasonable and I can see it becoming a regular place for me. read more

The lunch portions are huge and the price is right. In my eyes there are only two Mediterranean food places on the wank that are good. This one and the Sahara. The lunch menu that is offered here beats Sahara because they do not have a lunch menu. For under $10 you get the meat, a large serving of rice, a side of hummus and a side of salad.. plus a whole fresh pita. Everything was good and you cannot beat the price. I feel the gyro meat was a little less seasoned but still good. Definitely will return for the lunch specials. read more

Definitely try the gyro sandwich!! And add feta cheese too. That just makes it perfect! They use sideway cut pita bread for their gyros, not in a wrap form. The lamb is really good on its on and the sauce is on par. A little light on veggies but not the meat. Been here a few times, just on to go orders, and never see anyone in here. Maybe in the evenings it gets busy? Looking forward to eating in one day, just no one in my family will eat this...and I hate eating alone and being fat. Please note that this review is from a take out experience only. I've ordered food to go 2 times from this place. Every time I get the chicken swarma plate... I don't think I'm spelling that right. This place is so great! The food is wonderful and has great flavor. They also give you big portions. The staff always greets me right away and is very nice. Every time I come here, there's really no one inside though. They are also really fast. I ordered when I got there and got my food within 10 minutes. My only complaint is their decorations.... It holds a lack of being not comfortable. Will definitely keep getting my to go food from this place read more

Don't sleep on the unassuming Cleopatra's restaurant on the West Bank. Some of the best Mediterranean food I have eaten. They bring pickled veggies and olives, plus warm homemade bread, oil and za'atar for dipping out to the table. Get the Fried cauliflower and eggplant app, it was incredible! (No pics cause we ate it up!) The dolmas were also very good. I got the vegetarian plate and it was excellent. Best tabbouleh I have had! Mom said the falafel were the best she's ever had (my fav are Shaya). And our server Lacie knew the ingredients in the different items, including sauces, which was very nice. So my visit to this place is a decent 4. Pretty small place but looks larger since it was one big open dining area. Some tables with a cover and some without. Sit anywhere type of place. They start you off with some picked veggies, homemade bread, brings olive oil, and zaatar which I love. Some of the food won over others. We weren't wowed by any means but it was good. I had the lamb shank which was decent. I'm not sure how I felt by the tomato sauce with it but it wasn't bad. My wife's combo gyro and beef shawarma was good and I did enjoy the meat pies. Reminded me of my grandmothers. If I'm ever back on this side of town I'll give it a go if I'm craving Mediterranean. read more

We met some friends last night for dinner at Cleopatra, and I'm glad they suggested this place. I had heard about their food for quite some time, but I hardly ever make it to the West Bank. Apparently, they just updated interior and exterior decorations; and it looks very rich and inviting. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by 2 very nice servers, allowing us to sit anywhere. After the delicious free pita and veggies were brought out, my wife and I decided on a gyro/chicken shawarma plate with lentil soup and a chicken kabob plate with vegetable soup. My wife was thrilled that someone actually makes vegetable soup in this city. My gyro meat was far less greasy than I've ever had it, so I was very happy about that. The lentil soup was tasty, as was the chicken shawarma (not dry like some others). My wife liked her kabob better than my shawarma, but they were all delicious. We also got bakhlava (spelling?) at the end of our meal, and it was very tasty without being too sweet. We even got to meet some of the family members who own the restaurant. My wife and I are hooked, and we will definitely be returning to the West Bank soon to visit Cleopatra's! Thanks for a great meal! read more

This was my first time having dinner here and I was very pleased. The restaurant was pleasantly and warmly minimalist and elegant. The staff was very friendly. The falafel was crispy outside and moist on the inside with lots of exotic flavor. The flash fried eggplant and cauliflower appetizer was delicious. My husband, who is not an adventurous eater, enjoyed the tomato eggplant casserole. I really enjoyed the expertly prepared lamb chops. They were moist and well seasoned. I don't review locations very often but the food and the service at Cleopatras was just plain fantastic. I had the chicken kabob plate, the best chicken, the best hummus I have ever tasted! I also had the Fantoosh salad it was also extremely fresh and fantastic. My servers were a nice young guy who has twins at home and another young guy, they were super attentive, couldn't have been nicer and I waited for nothing! Awesome dining experience! read more

Had an early quiet dinner here tonight. We had the hummus, gyro platter and grilled shrimp platter. Everything was amazingly fresh and delicious. Very large portions so now we have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. First time here but will definitely be back. They had the tables well distanced and there is plenty of room. They wore masks and are offering curbside pickup. The only sad part was that the baklava was not done cooking but I am sure it is amazing! read more

If your going to splurge THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE! Our server Lucero was amazing and made Amazing Suggestions when it came to the menu. We were able to rent half the resturant to celebrate my brothers law school graduation. And it has become one of our most memorable events.
