Would be a nice date spot. I ordered the Lebanese tea and it has a hint of sweetness and maybe rose-Refreshing and different from others I have tried. Ordered the lentil soup and its packed with flavor. Dinner comes with some pickled veg (carrots, peppers, and olives) and pita bread. Such a tasty addition to the Lamb kebabs i ordered cooked to medium perfection. Juicy, hot and paired well with the hummus and rice. Cleopatra is a family staple. I've had takeout from here more times than I can count. My favorite items on the menu are the fluffy, fresh pita bread, toum, chicken shawarma plate, salmon plate, baba ghanoush, rice... you get it. I like everything that I get from here. I love that I can sub out the hummus for baba ghanoush. I like the oily vegetables and the colorful side salad. I have to remember to ask for the dressing on the side, though. The phone service is excellent and they are kind when we pick up our food. The ambience is fine, but I'm usually getting lunch from here when most customers are picking up their food and leaving. read more

We've tried to eat here a couple of times prior but line out the door deterred us. Late Saturday lunch (1:39P) w/husband. Only 2 other tables occupied. No one to greet us; one of the tables (apparently regulars) asked if it was our first time & told us to go ahead and seat ourselves. Server arrived and took our drink order. Very nice, don't remember her giving her name, but according to the receipt, she was "Training T." No alcohol served, but not an issue. Pita bread was brought, but without accompaniments. Wish it had been held for the meal since both dishes we ordered came with hummus and rice, but no additional bread. Ordered spinach pie as app. Delivered very quickly. Nice flavor but not as flaky as other places and a bit overcooked. Ordered Chicken Zarour and Gourmet Beef Shwarma. THESE meats were amazing! The Chicken Zarour served with one pc white meat, one pc dark, which totally worked for us. (FYI - no sharp knife to cut meat off bone.) BBQ sauce on it was obviously house made and was amazing! If it was bottled, we would have bought it. (NOTE to owner: consider this & message me through Yelp when you do.) I have hesitated to order Shwarma because of past very dry meat experiences elsewhere, but this was so delish - I ran out of stomach first. Oh, did I say portions are ample? Pricing is under $20/plate, so reasonable. Rice has very nice flavor. There is a bread spread included with each meal (or maybe good on rice? I don't know) that reminded us of a spread we had in Utah at a Bosnian restaurant. It's an amazing piquant spread to take home to put on toasted bread. Pricing for quality and quantity was very good. Check and close out was a bit slow; we had to waive down a bus person to get to go boxes. (At this point, the one waitress had 7 tables, although she did have a food runner.) We'd still go back, because the selections were numerous, but perhaps during normal lunch hours. So, 3 stars for no one to greet, pita with nothing until our meal showed up - then we had spreads with our meal and no bread - overcooked spinach pie, and chicken delivered without a knife. Our favorite takeout! If I don't cook at home I'm buying this for dinner. We have switched it to chicken shawarma since it's much juicier. The grapes leaves are delicious with a citrus hint. Not sure what the dipping sauce is but it pairs amazing with it. The Greek salad was alright, haven't ordered again. We didn't like the olives weren't pitted, it was a surprise bitting into them. The hummus and pita bread are so good! I've tried other Mediterranean places and none of them top this one. My husband and I went to cleopatra last night for the first time. When we walked in, we noticed it was a bit warm (must have AC issues like everyone in south LA with this unbearable heat right now). We were able to choose where we sat. The service was a bit slow, which we noticed almost instantly. It took them quite some time to bring us menus. When they finally took our order, we had received bread and soup before our drinks. Because of the food and the heat, we were really thirsty so this was a bit unpleasant. There was an error with our check, where we were charged for two drinks but had only received one, but it was handled. My husband had the chicken tikka which he liked. I had the kebab sultani which was delicious. The steak was a bit overcooked, but the other meats were delicious. I also appreciate that they ask the customer if they want soup or salad (which came with our meal). Asking customers instead of just providing it really reduces food waste. Plus, we had options! My husband got the lentil soup and I got the vegetable soup. The vegetable soup was delicious! Overall, the food was a 4/5 and the service a 2/5. I don't want to give a review solely on the service, as the food was delicious. We would definitely come back, but probably order take out. read more

Been coming here for years. No doubt my favorite all-around middle eastern restaurant in Nola. Everything on the menu is at a minimum good, their lentil soup may be best in town, chicken & shrimp kebabs are great, the rice is distinctive, plates come with a flavor-packed whipped garlic sauce (it's unnamed but I'd call it toum) that makes everything it touches better, and service is consistently good. It's not gourmet or atmospheric and they don't serve alcohol, so not a date night type place, but definitely a great lunch, weeknight or family dinner spot. read more

I have only had Mediterranean food a few times, however that didnt stop me from visiting this place while visiting in NOLA. I ordered the chicken shawarma and let me tell you. It was THE BEST chicken shawarma I ever had in my life. It was so good. I had them twice within a week span of my visit. The chicken was nice and tender, the rice wasn't tough or mushy, and the hummus was on point to tie it all up. The amount of flavors you get when combining all three is impeccable. The next time I go, I plan to order the Grilled Salmon entree. The overall set up of the restaurant is very inviting and I like the fact that there is soft music playing in the background. Unless you were looking for this place, you wouldn't even know this place existed since it was tucked away in a dark corner of a strip mall. It was pretty quiet for a Saturday night, so was a bit worried at first, but once the food came out, was super happy with everything. It also helped that our waitress was friendly and super helpful. This is one of the best Mediterranean places in town! I went with my friend for a dinner date, and we ordered the vegetarian platter and combined shawarma plate. Compared with other Mediterranean places I've tried in NOLA, the meat was the best at Cleopatra. It comes with side dipping sauces of the yogurt and garlic variety that are to die for!! Further, they have fresh, warm pita bread that is delicious to eat along with it. As for the vegetarian plate, it was also great (babaganoush was outstanding), but I would have to say that Albasha wins out in its vegetarian plate offered. The one at Cleopatra comes with a set 5 items on it: babaganoush, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, tabouleh, and falafel, whereas you can choose 5 items of your liking to customize your vegetarian plate at Albasha. Still solid. The ambiance was very nice, more quiet and sophisticated-- ideal for a date or a place to wind down after a chaotic day. Staff was kind and kept us supplied with pita bread. We were craving good Middle Eastern food on the Westbank and lucked out with Cleopatra. As you go in the restaurant looks elegant with white table cloths , but we didn't feel uncomfortable dressed casually. Service was great and friendly. We started off with baba ganoj and some wonderful fresh pita bread. They also bright out some wonderful pickled veggies. We had the lamb chops which were presented well and cooked perfectly. Also the shrimp kabobs were very good. The baklava was warm , fresh and awesome. This is a very good restaurant for Middle Eastern food that we will happily return to. read more

The chicken was seasoned well and I enjoyed that. The only thing I wish was different was what I ordered it was a bit too basic to properly rate the food overall. The service was great our servers were very kind and helpful. The ambiance was also nice they had a few markings on the wall I just assumed it was an older building. It's time for an update and I am declaring Cleopatra the best lunch spot in town! I know those are some big words, but I stand by them. Cleopatra consistently offers delicious, fresh and fast lunch at a price that's almost criminal. They have an entire lunch menu of options, but I usually get the beef shawarma plate which comes with hummus, rice, pita, a good size salad and pickled vegetables, all for $10 before tip. This sounds like a lot of food, because it is. These are generous "dinner sized" portions of delicious, fresh food and you can't beat the price. I also like this spot because they know that if you're here for lunch on a weekday, you have to get back to work, so you get the food fast. You'd think quality would suffer, but it doesn't at all. It comes out hot and delicious. This is a family owned place and service is always excellent and the owners take pride in their restaurant and it shows. I love the food here and I really need to make of eating here more often. read more

Came here for an early dinner to catch up with a friend. We were excited to try this place because we heard such great things about it. A server sat us at a table and the place looked nice. The menu was quite large, so we wanted to try everything! We ended up ordering the Cleopatra Special Appetizer, Lamb Kabob Entree, the Gyro Plate, and Lentil Bean Soup as our choice of soup for both entrees. Shortly after ordering, our server brought us our drinks, some pickled vegetables, and pita bread to start off our meal. Our appetizer came out and I already knew we were going to leave the restaurant pretty stuffed. The Cleopatra Special came with a little bit of every appetizer and it was good, but nothing too amazing. The Lentil Bean soup was a hearty soup that I enjoyed before my entree came. At this point, we were already somewhat stuffed and then our entrees come out! They both looked like your average Mediterranean dish, but I was still ready to grub out. They both came with hummus, basmati rice, onions, tzatziki sauce, and some pita bread to make it a complete meal. I liked my gyro plate more than my friend's lamb kabob, but they were both pretty good. Nothing too amazing, but both solid choices. I'm not sure how, but I managed to finish my whole dish in the end! All in all, a solid Mediterranean restaurant in the Westbank! There are plenty of options on the menu and you will leave content. This is so far my favorite Mediterranean Restaurant in the Orleans/Jefferson Parish area. I ordered the Chicken and Gyro combo plate. The chicken and gyro were cooked and seasoned perfectly. We told them it was our first time there and they made us feel so welcome, and even gave us a free dessert at the end. The atmosphere was perfect, and so was the food. I have to admit I had avoided going here for many years as I was leary of sampling Middle Eastern food in a Westbank strip mall but now I'm sad I didn't make the attempt long ago as this place was a fantastic delight even though it is in an awful strip mall location. Great food and great service makes this a really enjoyable place to eat. They give a different type of pita from most other Middle Eastern restaurants in the area and it is more of a puffy type. They give really good portion sizes and the food is all well done. You get free pita and a selection of pickled vegetables and olives lagnappe as a starter. Prices were a good value for the portion size you get. Overall it is one of the better places I've eaten at on the Westbank and it seems to have a dedicated following among Middle Eastern folks in the area. read more
