When in Atlanta... I thought sure, why not? My Dragoncon squad wanted to check it out last year and I tagged along. Keep in mind this was my first time at such a club. The closest experience I had before this was going on a tour of the Mustang Ranch with some friends many years ago. So did I know what to expect? Not really. Our friend who lives here said it was the oldest such establishment in Atlanta! Did I enjoy myself? Absolutely. There is a cover at the door but I can't remember how much it was. Maybe $12? The beer prices were certainly fine. I paid a couple bucks for a Yuengling and took a pic of it to document my visit before remembering photos aren't allowed in here. I found the vibe to be friendly and good for a group of people to be able to hang out. There's a lot of space with tables and chairs beyond the bartop where the dancers are. I guess I can't reeeeeeally say what all I saw in here and remain polite, but it was a lot of fun!!! Iykyk. I liked the divey atmosphere a lot. Makes the lightbulbs show up better! Hahahaha I freaking love this bar. It's underground (or it just feels like it is?), cash only, there are strippers, and everything (I mean everything) is sticky. What's not to love?! Drinks are no frill and the bartenders dishing em out are PROS. They're mixing drinks, calculating your tab, and retrieving the lost dollars that don't quite make it across the bar to the stage. The bartenders we had were fast, friendly, and despite the bar being insanely packed, never left us with an empty cup. If you're a germaphobe, definitely skip this bar. It's dirty in all the best ways. The carpet (yes carpet) is sticky, the bar has been duct taped and re duct taped for centuries and you can bet your bottom dollar that bare butts have touched every single surface in that place. I decided I wanted to do a rooftop tour for my 55th birthday and someone suggested the Clermont. Although it one business, the club and the rooftop are two separate party areas and the night I went, I paid $20 to get into the club and $5 to get to the rooftop. The club was so fun. The ladies (strippers) are not what you are use to in these fancy strip club but they are way more fun. There is a very strictly enforced no pictures, smoking or vaping policy inside the club. There were a couple of bachelor parties going on the night I went and everyone looked happy and to be enjoying themselves. Had to park two blocks away, i didn't see onsite parking or valet. A Long Island Ice Tea was $12 and not very strong. The roof top had several seating areas, a full bar and a beautiful view. Although the Clermont is the attraction here, treat yourself to the elevator ride up to the rooftop. I'd definitely do the rooftop again. read more

The Clermont Lounge remains one of the top tourist attractions in this city and for good reason. I've had the privilege to spend many nights that I can barely remember at this fine establishment. The bits and pieces that poke through the heavily insulated liquor induced brain cushion are nothing short of breathtaking. There's one experience where I can distinctly split my life into a "before and after" and it happened at the Clermont . I saw a $5 bill go 5 feet vertically in the air using only the power of air - from a specific body part that cannot be stated in this review. But you get the idea. I hope this place is around for the next 50 years because Atlanta cannot exist without the Clermont, and vise versa. read more

What an experience! We had 4 people at 9:30 pm on a Saturday. That was the time to go, because at 10:30, they started getting really crowded. At 9:30, we were able to have our pick of where to stand, close to the bar. It was a $10 cover per person. Be sure to bring plenty of cash with you, because there is a flat $20 (!!!) ATM fee inside!! Bring enough to tip the dancers AND the bartenders, as both work on tips. Including cover, I would expect to spend at least $40 per person, if you're being generous with your tips, which you should be. Bud Lights were $5.25 and mixed drinks were $4.75, so not too bad! Do not take pictures, or the security/bouncers will hunt you down. There were a variety of dancers, with a wide age range. We saw about 7. Out of the 7 dancers, one woman who was super boring, but the rest were very entertaining. We always hear of the crazy stunts the dancers at the Clermont Lounge pull, and we were certainly not disappointed. Another great thing about the Clermont Lounge is you find people from all walks of life, people young and old. It's very inclusive. Highly recommend going to the Clermont Lounge! We didn't have a chance to check out the roof, but I've heard good things, so we'll be back! read more

If you want to find a nice place in the summer with a beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline, don't hesitate! The rooftop of this hotel is a place not to be missed! You can park quite easily on the street, and the rooftop is accessible by an elevator inside the hotel. It is located on Ponce de Leon Avenue, and its proximity to the Beltline or Ponce City Market makes it possible to do everything in one afternoon. Although there isn't a huge selection on the menu (about 5-6 cocktails and a few different beers at reasonable prices), this is one of my favorite bars in Atlanta. Orders are taken directly at the bar but the staff is very nice. I highly recommend this place and will be back very soon! read more

July 2022 I am another one of the people that I have been kicked out of this establishment. I paid $20 to get in and after I stepped outside to get my friends (paid for them to also enter), management would not allow me to re-enter. Management, which consisted of a man who is very loud and very rude to all customers in his track suit. Yes, I said that he didn't have to be rude. And upon that comment,he said I could not re-enter the establishment. I would never pay to attend this type of place, but came with an open mind . Additionally, the bouncer is outside smoking a huge nasty cigar and informing customers that they need to move away to smoke anything . That is so honestly hypocritical that it's painful. To keep it real the best thing about this place is the DJ and the dance floor. I love the crowd as well. The strippers are not your average and deserve all of the recognition! My friend wanted to show me her neighborhood and her hangouts and so one of the stops was the Clermont. I've seen her check in to this place and she did send me a link, but I didn't prepare myself for this at all. I figured "Lounge" so there'll be booze and people sitting around. Yeah, that's part of it. There's more. At the center of the room tonight (there's also a stage on the other side of the room but it wasn't in use tonight), surrounded on all sides by the bar, is a raised platform. And on that platform, ladies remove their clothing. All of it. There is literally nothing left to the imagination. The ladies are of all ages and colors and shapes. Blondie is likely someone's grandmother. And she gets nearly completely naked. Two of the dancers are quite attractive. The others are just regular people and I think that there's nothing wrong with that at all. My friend is good friends with one of the dancers, Barbie. So after she did her bit on stage (she's the tall blonde covered in tattoos), Barbie came over to talk to her friend and I got to join in the conversation. I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn't it. Barbie is lovely. Intelligent, great conversationalist and a grandmother. Yep, she showed me pictures of her daughter and her granddaughter. Barbie's a completely regular human being who dances on stage and people hand her money as she removes what little clothing she was wearing. I honestly enjoyed meeting her! Another of the ladies has people ball up their dollar bills and throw them, aiming for her cleavage. That experience was... odd. A $10 cover charge and ID check at the door. PBR is $3.50 a can which is quite reasonable for the circumstances. Mixed drinks are a good bit more than that. Cash only! It is loud, it is smoky and there are no pictures allowed inside. And for the record, I was a running leap beyond the limits of my comfort zone but I enjoyed myself. read more

Before I decided to visit a Atlanta, and every time I mentioned to a friend I was going there for New Year, I was told more than once that I have to visit The Clermont Lounge. So the night of New Year's eve and after a few drinks, being disappointed by the rain and not being able to see the Peach Drop, we decided to take and Uber and go to the Clermont. Located at the end of the Clermont hotel with a rusty and deplorable look, there is the Clermont Lounge with the most eclectic crowd you can find in Atlanta. There was a cover because of New Years($10). We paid our cover and went it for an experience that I will never forget. The place was packed and we thought we were going to be the only crazy people going to an strip club in New Years, but ohhh boy if we were wrong. The party was about to go down since we got there 20 min before midnight, they started passing free bottles of champagne for everybody, and when the count down begun the party went crazy. Elderly stripers, cheap beer and some of the coolest bouncers I haver seen are were at the Clermont. When my wife and I said we wanted to do something different for New Year, we would never imagine we would be receiving it at the Clermont Lounge but we are so glad we did. Dive bar with a twist. Large circle bar where dancers perform in the middle. Great for women and men. Classic Atlanta establishment. I took my 28 year old friends here without telling them what it was. Their reactions at first was where are we and why are we here but soon everyone was having a great time drinking, watching the dancers, and dancing. The rooftop bar upstairs is also a huge plus. I am the man who is responsible creating the world famous replica of Lido Lounge strip club miniaturized and populated with squirrels. I am a famous strip club person. My peak experience at the Clermont was sitting next to a few celebrities in town to film a movie, one of which randomly gave my friend a lap dance (without us asking), which prompted me to throw some ones on her (at which time we realized she was a celebrity.) Me team and I were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather during our stay. We were greeted with complimentary PBR's and I was immediately happy with the place lol I also enjoyed what was called the Library. Cool furniture and cheetah carpet! Makes great photos. The cocktail I had in the bar was delicious, boozy and smooth. It was basically a Manhattan riff with cognac and I was pretty impressed with the balance of the drink. We ended our night by stopping in to check out the Lounge down below the hotel. It was a great visit and I definitely plan to come back with more friends for another fun evening. read more

Well, as someone that has lived here for years, it's really sad to see this place go from what Anthony B described as a must place to go in ATL...sorry to say they've sold out. The main guy at the door is probably the worst addition. He's on a power trip. I just witnessed it for the 3rd time. He will allow you to take photos. He may scold you, but you'll get away with it. I went the wrong way to the women's restroom, looked down at my phone for a split second to read a quick text and the bartender came running around the corner to yell at me to move immediately from the space. I asked him which direction the restroom was and he yelled "move from the space right now, you can not be back here." I assured him that I was moving. My legs were moving and he still kept yelling and cussing at me while shining his flashlight in my face. I was very uncomfortable. I again asked him which way to the restroom. He pointed straight ahead as he was telling me I was going to have to leave if I didn't cooperate. I began to walk straight ahead and realized that was the wrong way. As I started to turn around he was shining his light on me once again, shouting and cussing at me, saying I needed to listen to him. You aren't listening to me you need to leave! He screamed. I was so hurt by this. We were meeting some friends that we haven't seen in a very long time and they were staying at the Clermont hotel. We were showing them a piece of old Atlanta that is still around. I was embarrassed and hurt by this and feel like no one, especially women should never be treated like this by a man. Such a shame that this happened. * I think the response by management/ownership reflects this business. As you see this establishment simply does not care. You should never treat your customers or people in general like this even at a strip club. There are much better ways to deal with a situation. I didn't know that the Clermont Lounge became famous after a visit by Alton Brown and Anthony Bourdain until Friday night. I ran into a couple outside the lounge who told me about Clermont's new status and were trying to figure out how to get inside. Which brings me to why I'm writing this review... Constructing fencing still surrounds the hotel, so to access the entrance to the lounge, you'll need to walk down Bonaventure and enter via the back driveway. There were guys directing us to the entrance as we headed down Bonaventure but they may/may not be there on your visit so just head down the hill and turn into the wide driveway to your right. Once inside, it's almost all the same. The money rule is still cash-only with two ATM machines for people who don't know. The bar is the same with great bartenders and strong drinks. The music is the same - random songs from the digital juke box. And the people are the same - mostly white and a bit odd and/or corny. (Yeah, I said it.) One thing that's different is the vibe. Although Clermont is still a great dive bar, it feels more like a tourist destination now instead of a local place. A lot of people were looking around expecting to see I-don't-know-what and a couple had on matching bright yellow Iowa sweatshirts which I've never seen at any local bars. (That's a good thing.) The dancers were also different. We saw a lot of the usual dancers but there were also 3 new ones - all very young, fit and attractive. One girl was so gorgeous that two of my friends separately compared her to Rihanna. That's how I know for sure that Clermont is a different place now. The older dancers were part of Clermont's special qualities and gave me hope for my old lady future, but alas, no more. There is no way I can compete with the Rihanna look-alike! I'm glad my friends and I went back to celebrate the Clermont Lounge's reopening and we had a great time. I'm sure we'll visit again, but maybe to bring in some visiting family or friends, you know, tourists. read more

So the Clermont is an interesting place. I have been here a few times because my coworker who lives in the ATL loves it. As many have said, it is a classic dive bar with a twist. I have seen some pretty interesting things here but hey that's why the clermont is the clermont. I wouldn't call it a strip club but it does go on. There is usually good music playing and it has an eclectic crowd that attends. They say that it is an Atlanta institution and I agree. 5 Stars because good lord, we need more places like this. Scratch that. One is enough. But I can't deny it's pretty infectious. Probably not the best choice of words there... ANYway! This place is a straight up institution in Atlanta, so obviously LLCoolJ (aka the artist formerly known at Jonathan T., of @YelpAtlanta fame) made sure we hit it up. Though initially a bit apprehensive, I was all-in to try something new. Not so much a strip club as a super divey basement bar with body-positive dancing women, this place is the real deal. Did we happen to go on a Halloween themed death metal night? Yes. Yes, we did. Was there a side show performance featuring hooks, snails, and a performer who would only accept tips if they were stapled to her body? Perhaps. Is this typical of a night at the lounge? Unlikely. Will I be returning? Um, have you read this review up until now?? OBVS. Things to know: - It's located below a currently-abandoned hotel. - There is a small parking lot and on street parking along the side roads, but depending on the night it may be best to uber. - Wear clothes you don't mind throwing away afterwards. I'm not being dramatic in saying it took two cycles and washing my hair three times to finally stop smelling like an ashtray. Indoor smoking sucks. But I wouldn't expect anything else at this place. - Head toward the back left corner for lap dances. ($20/pop) - Drinks are stiff. Know that you're paying for tons of alcohol, and not for a smiling bartender. She looks like she's seen some shit. And I gotta respect that. As a note, this place reminds me of the old dive bar in my 'hood (shoutout to Wally's in Orlando, WUUUUT!), but honestly could be any great old dive in any city.
