Last week I was in Atlanta for work and had a chance to grab dinner with a close friend. She suggested we go to Rumi's because of how good their food was and had told me about how they just renovated the new Sandy Springs location. Let me just tell you, that this recommendation did NOT disappoint. The moment I dipped my pita into the lamb hummus I already knew this was about to be one of my favorite meals and boy was I correct. From the lamb hummus, to the grilled veggies, the chicken kebob to the rack of lambs- everything was truly delectable!!!! Ofc we couldn't skip on dessert. We got the burnt honey pistachio cake that was both of our favs and the mahlab s'mores sundae that was also incredibly good. Our service was really great w/ our server giving us incredible recommendations. And the ambiance was so chic. The bar was truly stunninggggg!!! Yesterday, went to the restaurant to celebrate a family birthday for a late lunch. The upgrade to the facility is five stars. But, the line cooks/cooks/chefs and daytime manager failed. Our salad, vegetables, herbs, and wine were five stars, but the meats were all cold. We had to send all meats back three times. This is unacceptable in any restaurant. The manager did not apologize or even try to do anything. She failed. Our server/Asser was/is five stars. Great service, courtesy, and very professional. The review deserves to be one star, but due to the facility, server, and food is five stars, we had to rate it higher. The cooking team and manager failed miserably. Wow!!! The food here is so good! We were a party of 5 for lunch...around 1pmish on a Saturday. This place is popular...it gets busy. The service: Our server, Damani, had excellent recommendations. He was very attentive and extremely pleaseabt, top shelf all around - 5 stars The food: we ordered "family style" like he recommend. We started with the appetizers.... In my most recent visit I experienced the worst service I have ever had in Rumi's Kitchen. First, the dish I wanted was sold out and it was only 8pm. Then I ordered albaloo polo, à la carte koobideh kabob and Mast Khiyar. But my server forgot to place the order of the last dish. And it took over 40 minutes' wait to get my food. Worse, there was no diced cucumbers in the yogurt. Probably they mistook my order for Mast Musir which is yogurt with shallots. Worst of all, even if the restaurant says it accepts OpenTable dining credits, the dining credits actually could not be used in the restaurant! Or at least, the staff did not know how to use it. No apologies, no remedies. I was disappointed. For a reference, I dine in at Rumi's Kitchen (Colony Sq/Sandy Spring branch) at least twice a month. read more

Let's start of with how beautifully embellished the restaurant is. It's a refined fusion of modern elegance & old-world Persian heritage, that celebrates Persian hospitality & culture. You're greeted by the hostess that radiates warmth and geniality. Once seated you're gifted a complimentary starter Sabzi Plate that includes fresh herbs, feta cheese, walnuts, Castelvetrano olives, crunchy radish, and premium walnuts. It also comes with side of freshly baked Persian flatbread. We ordered a plethora of dishes. Our favorite plates were the hummus [we paired with the mushroom add on], lamb chops, and the Adas Polo rice. Trust me get the Adas Polo rice, it absolutely mouthwatering. As for beverages there is a variety of curated cocktails that we tasted but my top pick had to be the Tehran Mule! As for desserts our favorite was the Persian ice cream sandwich, it has unique flavors with rose being one of them. So good! For parking they offer a combination of valet services and validated garage parking depending on which location you go. The dress code is business casual. A Spectacular Dining Experience! The atmosphere, the service, and the food were all truly spectacular. Every part of the evening exceeded our expectations. The Chilean sea bass was cooked to absolute perfection--tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Rumi's lives up to the hype! I've been to the Avalon location location, which is delicious but somehow the location in Sandy Springs is just better. We made reservations and were seating quickly on a Saturday. 10/10 hostesses and waitresses. The newly renovated interior looks outstanding. We were lucky enough to sit in the outer dining area (not actually outside) on a beautiful night. The sun setting a dimly lit table were very nice. If there is one thing I recommend it's the hummus with the mushrooms. It was DEVINE. I was actually shocked how something so simple could be so delicious. My friend got the salmon dish which was delicious. Much better salmon than you would receive anywhere else. I was in the mood for a stew so I got the duck fesenjoon. It was one of the greatest dishes I've tasted all year. It was the perfect balance of savory, sweet and sour with fall off the bone tender duck. Paired with the potato tahdig, I couldn't put my fork down. We left stuffed with left overs. I will definitely be back to get the hummus and explore other items on the menu! Went here for the first time on Valentine's Day this year and had a really great experience. We had a 5 PM reservation and although there was a short wait, it was completely understandable since they were very busy that evening. We were seated on the patio, which was packed but still had a warm and pleasant atmosphere. Our server Jam provided outstanding service from start to finish. He was attentive, mindful of my dietary restrictions, and always made sure we had everything we needed, whether it was water refills or placing another order. He checked in on us several times without being overwhelming and truly made our special occasion feel even more special. The food was delicious. We ordered the mushroom hummus, yogurt duo, and the vegetable kebab, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The yogurt duo was my favorite. It was so good that we ended up ordering a second portion. The vegetable kebabs were not your typical boring vegetables. The grilled pineapple was such a pleasant surprise and added a really nice flavor that paired perfectly with the vegetables, rice, yogurt, and the sabzi they bring out at the beginning. The feta cheese tasted very fresh and light. We also got the flourless chocolate cake to go and were really impressed with how rich and flavorful it was, especially for a gluten free dessert. Decided to come here for a birthday dinner, especially since we haven't been to this location since they reopened after the renovation. The space has a much more open feel to it, which was nice to see. Started with the hummus, which was excellent. For entrees, had the chinjeh and the sea bass. The chinjeh tasted good, was slightly overcooked (I ordered medium) but was fine to eat. Wife really enjoyed the sea bass. The rice for both dishes were quite tasty. Our server, Jonathan, was excellent. Very attentive and always checked to see if everything was okay. Still don't understand why parking ($3) is charged separately. Valet parking was $2 a steal! Place was packed on a Friday night even though we had a reservation we still had to wait a bit but it was worth it. Baked eggplant dip with pita bread was delicious, generous portions. The steak kabobs were soooooo good very tender and flavorful. Didn't care for the sides it came with. Dessert really hit, spiced mousse cake with vanilla ice cream. Also had the Pistachio Passport gin based cocktail and cousin had Shazdeh Garden vodka based cocktail, both were excellent read more

We were seated 20 min later than our res time. There were no open seats at the bar to get a cocktail while we waited. The lamb app was served at room temp. The bread was dry. My wife's chicken kebab was toxically salty. We had to spit it out. My tomato was nearly raw. Our waitress never checked on us after we waited 20 min for our entrees to be served. We had to flag down another server who had a manager visit our table. She took the kebab and left me with my entree. 20 min later there was no sign of the kebab or my tomato. We had to flag down another server to get our waitress to pack the kebab and my dinner to go. They charged us for 2 kebabs(?) and comped 1 of them. We asked the manager if that was their intent and she removed the 2nd kebab charge. The waitress never offered us their dessert/coffee menu. My wife tried to use the ladies' restroom. There were 5 women (including 1 waitress) lined up in the hallway, waiting for their turn to get through the restroom door. She found it pretty off putting to be sharing the restroom with a uniformed employee. Accordingly, she walked away. It took 10 minutes for the valet to deliver our car. By the way, I planned on ordering their sea bass, but they jacked the price up to $65. read more

I went to this amazing place before catching my flight to Istanbul. Here is the summary of my amazing experience at this place in the Sandy springs location. 1) Ambiance 5/5: This is a fine dining restaurant with pleasant decor and ambiance which is soothing and inviting at the same time. The only thing is that this place has little to no parking so get ready to have valet parking here. 2) Service 6/5: Although it was very crowded on a weekday and we did not have a prior reservation, we were pleasantly surprised to get seating pretty quick and also the food service was really quick. The people service us were helpful, pleasant and resourceful. 3) Food 5/5: Here is the summary of the food we had: a) Mirza Ghasemi: This is a Persian twist on my favorite Indian eggplant dish called baigan bharta. Absolutely loved my meal! The service was super quick which was great because we were super hungry . I split my dish and it was the perfect portion. I had the Chicken Kabob but switched the regular rice with the Shirin rice. The Shirin rice is sweet so if you prefer the standard salty rice, I'd recommend a different option though I think they have 6 different rice options to choose from! The chicken had a yummy marinade and it just tasted like juicy, great grilled chicken. Definitely recommend it. The restaurant is a bit loud but overall great experience and food was amazing. This place is exceptional!!! I cannot even put into words how good Rumi's Kitchen is because there are no words. The parking lot is small, but they offer valet (and it might be the only option?). If you go on a weekend night, I would recommend getting a reservation because this place gets packed. The atmosphere is can feel kind of upscale and the decorations inside reflect the elegance of the restaurant. It was my first time going there and my server was very helpful in telling me about the best options. I ended up ordering the Chicken Barg and it was exquisite. The chicken was so juicy and tenderthe meat was so easy to cut through. I also really liked the rice. I ate a bit of the Baklava that my friends ordered and it was also good! While this is an expensive restaurant, I think that the amount of food on a plate as well as the food quality is worth it. This is the lowest rating I can ascribe for food THIS good. Allow me to start with the positives -- the food here is SO well-executed. Rice varieties, freshly baked pita, phenomenal grill selection, and truly sublime spreads make this a culinary destination alongside Delbar or Yalda. I have successfully eaten here exactly one time. I wish I could even get close to the front door... on a weeknight. I have now had multiple incidences (x3 times since my first successful attempt) where my reservation times have been all but ignored. There is not seating to wait for your table to be called, so future diners are forced into corners and very much in the way of servers trying (valiantly, I might add) not to drop plates of grilled meats at patrons. We had specifically requested a table indoors (my wife at the time was 9 months pregnant) only to be shown an outside table in 30-degree weather. Space heater non-withstanding, we would not have specified if we did not have a reason for doing so, and honestly, preference is enough a reason if given the choice through OpenTable or any other online reservation engine. During our last attempt at dining here, upon recalling our car from the valet after waiting 45 minutes for a "reserved" table to no avail with nowhere to wait comfortably, the valet asked how we liked the restaurant. We told them nicely that we were unable to be seated despite having a reservation. The valet remarked "wow that's the 3rd time tonight I've heard that." Stop overbooking your restaurant. It's insulting as you have plenty of demand to turn tables and generate profit -- no need for manufactured scarcity. Also, any investment in sound deadening would be welcome as you cannot hear a thing in the restaurant which makes talking to the people at your table impossible. 2/5 is generous given how poorly we've been treated as eager diners who gave this place multiple shots. read more

Rumi's Sandy Springs is still a favorite for Persian cuisine. I haven't been in a while but went for my friend's birthday dinner. The restaurant is located next door to IHOP (use this as your landmark if you have trouble finding it) and they offer valet parking. As usual, the service was on point, the food tasty with plentiful portion sizes, and the drinks perfect. Side note: They have three locations in the Atlanta and metro Atlanta areas so you have options. read more

Lovely restaurant with beautiful decor and ambiance. Even on a Monday it was very crowded. Service was great for our large group as well. I had a couple of different glasses of wine, which were all excellent. The falafel, hummus, and chicken wings were all delicious to start. I loved the veggie platter and pita that came complementary to start as well. For my entree I got the sea bass, which was great quality and tender; however I do wish there was some sort of sauce with the dish. I asked for hummus on the side because it needed something. The rice was tasty but would have been better with potatoes or veggies as well for such a price of this entree. We also tried the white chocolate cake for dessert, which didn't taste chocolate-y at all but was still soft and lightly sweet. We ordered the Roasted Crimini & Oyster Mushroom Hummus and Short Smoked Salmon Hummus to share. The mushroom one was okay and the smoked salmon one was really good. It was not busy at all but the service was very slow. My coworker and I had to leave early for a meeting so we were not able to get our food & our takeout bags were mixed up. Update: it has been quite some time since my last visit. And as we all know the restaurant experience can change over time. However, let me just say this ... Rumi's never fall fails to impress! I made reservations for my sister's birthday, and even though we showed up early, they were still able to seat us, which is huge, considering that this restaurant is NEVER lacking for patrons. Excellence in server- client experience, cuisine and ambiance, Rumi's checks all the boxes. They offer valet service for $2, offering very prompt and courteous service. And there's always police presence to assist with exiting the parking lot, as the restaurant is located along an extremely busy stretch of Roswell road. On to the Cuisine: As she'd never had the pleasure of partaking in Persian cuisine, we ordered various plates, sharing samples from my choices. Amongst sad choices were the lamb shank, dolmeh, salmon hummus & barg kabob, subbing Shirin rice for the saffron basmati. The dolmeh, with its bright exit of pomegranate really stood out. That was until the birthday dessert of Persian ice cream arrived. The ice cream is a vanilla base, infused with saffron, rosewater, & pistachio. This dessert is an *undeniable star*, as standard restaurant desserts go. It would be wise to note that several of their entrees are large enough for 2 people. We came here for Christmas Dinner. Food for Vegans is very slim, yet our Server Ellen was great. Amongst the holiday busyness, we had no issues with the timing of ordering & receiving our food. We weren't too happy about being seated all the way in the back by a closed door with an affixed fire extinguisher, yet understand the occupancy as such. 4.5* (out of 5) Food: 5* Atmosphere: 4* Value: 4* Service: 5* 03/18/2024 We were in the Atlanta area to attend the Persian wedding of some very good friends who we've shared a lot of good food with and this was on the short list of their favorite restaurants in the area. That alone was reason enough that we just had to stop here for dinner before leaving...and that we did! I can't say enough about the quality and taste of all of the food and drinks that we had, all of it so fresh, moist and tasty - if I could give it more than 5*, I would! We started with drinks - my wife opting for the Spice Mist (see picture) and myself the Black Rose (see picture). Both of them were delicious! In addition to the provided Bread & Sabzi (see picture) we also ordered a Smoked Salmon Hummus appetizer (see picture). We were thoroughly impressed with the rich, smooth hummus and the tender, flavorful salmon. For our main courses, my wife ordered the Rack of Lamb (see picture) and I opted for the Soltani Kabob (see picture) - both of which were recommendations from our friends and we really enjoyed both dishes. In addition, we ordered the Baghali (bean & dill rice), the Chili Chutney and the Mast Khiyar. If you haven't caught on yet, we ordered WAY too much food (especially the rice). Lastly, a couple of words of advice / caution for your future visit. While the quantity of food served was quite high and we made it worse by ordering even more food, the main courses and drinks are on the expensive side, so I gave 4* for Value. Lastly, while the building and the interior were beautiful, I gave 4* on Atmosphere due to the parking situation. There was a line of cars trying to get in, so they waved us through the Valet area. We then got to the back of the full lot and didn't know what to do. Ultimately, several other cars that were also waved through turned around and left the lot, so assuming it was full I did the same. After driving around in all 4 directions looking for parking and almost parking in the back of the IHOP lot (good thing I didn't - see picture), I ultimately gave up and found Public Parking in Google Maps - about a 4 block walk away against a cold wind. Come prepared to deal with the parking and the somewhat pricey menu and leave totally satisfied from the wonderful food experience!
