I had a devastating and deeply alarming experience at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic that I feel other pet owners need to know. This was my cat Oliver's very first visit. My other 2 cats have been to this office before. I brought in all three of my cats for wellness exams and whatever vaccinations they were due for and the entire visit for all three animals lasted approximately 10 minutes. There was no meaningful discussion of medical history whatsoever. Oliver was 16 years old and healthy! The Doctor didn't ask me any questions about him at all, just listened to him and looked at his teeth and weighed him and gave him vaccines. I went and checked out and was getting ready to leave the office when all the sudden my cats mouth was open and he was drooling and could not breath! They rushed him in the back and about 10 minutes later they told me he did not make it. He was dead! They said he had died of Anaphylactic shock from the rabies vaccine which is "rare." The doctor did not seem sympathetic at all and showed no compassion! I am completely devastated this was my baby I have had him for 16 years and had to say goodbye. I went back to the office 2 days later to talk to the owner because I had so many questions of why this happened! Come to find out they did not have his correct records on file!!! When they attempted to obtain them, the wrong records were sent--belonging to a completely different cat owned by someone else. This was a different cat named Oliver from a different owner! Which means so many people are at fault here! The receptionist who collected the records, the vet tech, and the doctor! How does the wrong records slip thru 3 people. Pure negligence!! The records they had were for an orange and white cat of a different age. My cat Oliver was a black cat. Despite this obvious discrepancy, vaccines were still administered. This raises extremely serious concerns about how any medical decisions were made that day. There appears to have been no accurate verification of my cat's identity, medical history, or vaccination status prior to treatment. According to his ACTUAL history, he had already received a 3-year distemper vaccine and Rabies, he was not due for any Vaccines until 2027 if any at all due to his age, the doctor over vaccinated and killed my perfectly healthy cat! Given his age, his true records, and the fact that incorrect records were being used, I find it extremely troubling that vaccines were administered at all! Especially with a senior cat, and a first time patient- this appt should have taken much longer and had they actually even looked at the records they would see that this wasn't even the same cat!! I brought my cat in alive and healthy, and he did not come home. He suffered a horrible death because of this clinic and their negligence!! The staff and the doctor need to be held accountable for this. I cannot believe this happened. Unfortunately i trusted this clinic and didnt question the fact that they were giving him a vaccine because they are the medical professionals. I strongly urge other pet owners to double-check everything themselves and not assume their pet's records are being accurately reviewed!! I am posting this to raise awareness. I will never step foot in this clinic again. read more

i went back here for routine wellness for my dog and after the appt i realized i left them due to poor customer service. Not a single smile even a fake one. no hi hello good morning or whatever. 3 girls on the desk and shit i walked in i said hello and got ignored then few minutes one lady accommodated me lol and this happened face to face at front desk. The tech and doctor were good tho. tech seemed unbothered but judgemental of everything tho but had better customer service. i do wish they ask finances not everyone can pay up front of every vaccine along w requested labs. this place is just full of negative vibes except Margaret the doctor. read more

From the moment the front office picked up the phone, this place has been a haven for my family and our sweet girl, Jellie Bean. I called initially because of a tick bite Jellie Bean got (for the first time ever in her life) and her continuous vomiting... Unfortunately, that would have been the best case scenario. Instead, we were met with the worst case scenario-- a mesenteric tumor which was totally inoperable given its stage, its location, and Jellie Bean's age and health. Unfortunately, despite the antibiotics that were prescribed by Dr. Maloney, and the steroids that were prescribed by Dr. Masterton, Jellie Bean's prognosis was poor... That initial appointment with Dr. Maloney in which the tumor was discovered was on May 22nd. Despite our follow-up appointments and my hopes and prayers that Jellie Bean would make it to her 15th birthday in October, we opted for end-of-life services to put her out of her pain and give her a dignified passing on July 1st. It was an incredibly difficult decision for our family, but throughout it all, Dr. Masterton provided us with her guidance, support, and compassion to assure us that we were making the right decision. My only regret is wishing I had switched Jellie Bean out of her previous vet so that I could find Dr. Masteron again at this clinic sooner. I will be forever grateful for the care they provided to us. I will entrust any pet I have to this place for routine and emergency care in perpetuity. To each team member at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic, please keep up the work that you do-- it matters so much. Your end of life communication and care exemplifies what healthcare professionals are trained to do for patients and families. Your comforting, peaceful, non-rushed presence will never be forgotten in what was one of the worst days of our lives. I hope that we will be back in your office under better circumstances someday, but until then, thank you, again, for what you did for our Jellie Bean. read more

Our family had a scare when our beloved dog woke up ill on a Saturday. We called an emergency clinic who advised a Saturday walk in averages $500! We called Cleveland Vets and were given a 9am appointment and solved our dogs sickness! Peace of mind and genuine kindness for $82.50 I highly recommend this clinic! My 1 year 7 month golden doodle got really lethargic and stopped eating... took him in to Cleveland vets where we discovered 3 boils on him. The said nothing to worry about. In 2 days the boils were multiplying and rupturing. We did a full blood test. They gave him antibiotics and said it is not a cause of concern as all his blood tests came back normal, only his WBC was slightly high. We had 3 visits just for the boils. Following week he developed an eye issue.... instead of trying to connect the dots they misdiagnosed conjunctivitis and prescribed him an steroid ointment and said the boil that were now over 20 are no cause of concern as they are clogged sebaceous cysts. They also said the boils, his lethargy and his eyes were not connected even thou I asked could they be connected. He had 3 seizures yesterday and we take him to the ER to find out he is suspected to have Blastomycosis which has gone to his skin, eyes, lungs and brain. He may lose his eyes. If Cleveland were more attentive and would listen maybe we would have caught the issue way earlier instead of in week 3. I would not recommend them to anyone! Took our 2 dogs for a few shots. Dr Maloney noticed one of their ears was red. She tested her ear and determined she had an ear infection. We were charged for a few shots, checkup and an ear infection. Were quite surprised by the bill which was $700!!!! Tried to address the charges we were told by the front desk "don't you know things have gone up". Than with Dr Maloney she was not willing to talk and told the reception just take off the visit. Thought she was a great Dr till that day. Iam sorry for a few shots, visit and ear meds that's insane. Will never return. read more

This place is wonderful! I say this carrying a heavy heart as my last visit was the one I never wanted to make. I lost my best friend dog (Taze,) to old age. He was with me almost everyday for close to 12-1/2 years. He meant the world to me however as much as I could push this off I knew this day would come. When It happened I couldn't of asked for a better staff to help my buddy, and my family. Cleavland was so carrying and professional all in one. The Vets treated my boy with all the care in the world. These were people who see pets daily however took they time to understand what my buddy needed every visit throughout his life. do NOT come to this clinic if you care about your pet. my 1 year old puppy had to be put down because the vets at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic are completely incompetent. when we started noticing Milo, our golden doodle, was sick we came into CVC and they started out by saying that the bump on him was a DOG BITE and ACNE and was nothing to worry about, even when we repeatedly told them he had not been by other dogs. at this point there were 2 bumps on him, one of which was bleeding which the vet said was a "puncture wound from a dog." turns out they actually cut him while they were shaving him (again completely incompetent) which is why only one bump was bleeding and the rest wasn't. when the bumps kept multiplying, we brought him back and they prescribed him pain meds, antibiotics, and gave us the a recommendation for a DERMATOLOGIST and assured us that it was just a skin disease. we then had to come back in because Milo's eyes wouldn't open, and they told us it was conjunctivitis and gave us steroids for his eyes. he was on these meds for weeks when everything CVC told us was wrongfully diagnosed. any EDUCATED vet would've connected the dots and diagnosed Milo with the disease that he had which was blasto. even with no veterinary knowledge, we asked them if Milo's eyes not opening and the bumps were connected and they repeatedly told us no. because of their negligence the disease kept growing in Milo till he started having seizures. we brought him to VCA aurora animal hospital and they told us it was blasto right away. we couldn't even start him on the blasto anti-fungal meds, till the meds that CVC had given us wore off. by this time it was too late. it had got to his brain and even though he knew we were there, he wasn't able to move his body. he tried so hard to get up and interact with us but he was brain dead and we had to let him go. Milo wasn't even 2 years old. if CVC would've caught it when we brought him in, Milo would've been alive and the disease wouldn't have reached his brain. blasto is very common in the midwest and veterinarians who literally work in the midwest and have so much experience should at least have KNOWLEDGE of this disease. it's mind boggling that we brought him in 3 separate times and these idiots couldn't catch what any other vet would've been able to catch. we have recently found out that someone who had a puppy who had blasto was immediately diagnosed at South Town Animal Hospital and was saved. nothing can bring milo back but these veterinarians should not be in practice and if you care about your pet, you will take them to another clinic. read more

I had an extraordinary visit at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic today. My poor baby bulldog came in for her annual vaccinations and I received a very thorough second opinion from Dr. Margaret concerning a knee injury she had. She literally spent an hour and a half of her personal time to make me feel at ease and inform me more about the decision to proceed with a surgery. She wasn't pushy or judgmental, but very passive and informative. She actually stayed later than her usual hours to meet me that day when my Bully was having some breathing issues. Recently we had a very sick kitty and they did their best, offering various treatments and trying less invasive ones initially and were by our side when she had to pass on. We now have a new kitten and they take such good care of her. They take time to get to know the animal, talking to them and letting them explore the room without hurrying. CiCi liked the tech and vet. They do grooming, with a special spa day for your dog that we thought was so cute, oatmeal bath, nail trim, blow out. What a great idea. read more

I love bringing my two Bulldogs here. I'm always in and out and the staff is so friendly. My previous vet continuously insisted I do allergy testing on my dog even though I wanted to keep him on the current medication that he's on (which is the only thing that controls it) when there was a chance the allergy shots wouldn't help. I expressed my concerns to Dr.Robbins and she said that I indeed could keep him on the meds that I wanted to keep him on, I'd just have to get his blood tested yearly to make sure there weren't any problems. I appreciate all help the staff and Dr.Robbins have given me and my dogs. read more

My boyfriend and I took our cat here for the first time and were very happy that we chose this as our new vet clinic. The staff and vet (Dr. Vlakancic) were very friendly and took the time to answer all of the questions we had. The vet and techs were patient and gentle with our nervous cat and didn't rush through the exam or giving vaccines. Their prices are affordable and no one pressures you into buying something you don't need, they let you know what they recommend specifically for your pet and what is optional based on your pet's lifestyle. We went for a routine puppy visit for shots. Dr. Margaret was very rude and insulting toward our puppy and myself. Very derogatory with her comments about our 14week old puppy squirming on the table and that we should get her groomed. Perhaps she would like to pay for a grooming visit for us. Not everyone has money to do so. We give our own baths and trim nails. Anything but a love for animals in that visit. Very negative. Would not see Dr. Margaret again. We've really had good experiences with Dr Maloney and CVC. Our family has been going to Dr Maloney for a long time and loves her. Now my wife and I have brought our pooch there to be spayed and for some other basic things. The prices are reasonable and the people are kind; more than that, our dog Piper healed much faster than expected from her surgery and didn't even need a cone; for all she knew, she was good to go within a couple of days. We're very thankful to have found a good Vet, even if we have to drive a long ways to get to her. read more

I do blame Cleveland for the death of my Hank. He was an 8 year young Cavalier King Charles. I took him to Cleveland a few days before with back leg weakness. The vet suggested Spine, Hips, and Leg X-rays ($350 later) giving me pain medications the vet said she could not find anything wrong. She said it might be arthritis. The vet talked to me about his food and habits. Offered other services if he didn't get better. The vet said if he didn't get better in 2 weeks to come back. I went home. While walking him on Friday morning, December 30th he just dropped dead. Had the vet taken a few minutes to look over his file or even listened to his heart she would have known that Hank had a heart murmur and that any kind of weakness symptoms signified a heart problem. I did not find this out until after or I would have stressed that fact. He didn't have to die!! read more

I would highly recommend Cleveland Veterinary Clinic! Last night (Friday-July 1st) the dog we recently adopted did not do so well with fireworks. Worried about the safety and mental stress we wanted to get her in to see a vet right away; but thought it would be hard to find a clinic that would accept us on a holiday weekend and Saturday morning! Luckily for us this clinic is minutes away from our house and could get us in right away! Dr Williams and Tech Erin were very helpful and wonderful with our dog! During this visit we were also able to get her annual checkup, shots and medication to help with the fireworks this weekend! While checking out i was slightly worried about cost but when told the total i was happily surprised with how reasonable the cost was compared to other vets i have been to in the past! I will definitely be returning in the future for all my veterinary needs with my two dogs! read more

My dad has taken his dogs there for years so we brought our dogs there as well. The facility is clean and the staff is friendly. They really seem to know what they're doing when it comes to pet care. Both of my dogs are experiencing issues related to genetics and aging and are receiving good care from Cleveland.
