Jellie Bean's 14th Birthday.
R C.

From the moment the front office picked up the phone, this place has been a haven for my family and our sweet girl, Jellie Bean. I called initially because of a tick bite Jellie Bean got (for the first time ever in her life) and her continuous vomiting... Unfortunately, that would have been the best case scenario. Instead, we were met with the worst case scenario-- a mesenteric tumor which was totally inoperable given its stage, its location, and Jellie Bean's age and health. Unfortunately, despite the antibiotics that were prescribed by Dr. Maloney, and the steroids that were prescribed by Dr. Masterton, Jellie Bean's prognosis was poor... That initial appointment with Dr. Maloney in which the tumor was discovered was on May 22nd. Despite our follow-up appointments and my hopes and prayers that Jellie Bean would make it to her 15th birthday in October, we opted for end-of-life services to put her out of her pain and give her a dignified passing on July 1st. It was an incredibly difficult decision for our family, but throughout it all, Dr. Masterton provided us with her guidance, support, and compassion to assure us that we were making the right decision. My only regret is wishing I had switched Jellie Bean out of her previous vet so that I could find Dr. Masteron again at this clinic sooner. I will be forever grateful for the care they provided to us. I will entrust any pet I have to this place for routine and emergency care in perpetuity. To each team member at Cleveland Veterinary Clinic, please keep up the work that you do-- it matters so much. Your end of life communication and care exemplifies what healthcare professionals are trained to do for patients and families. Your comforting, peaceful, non-rushed presence will never be forgotten in what was one of the worst days of our lives. I hope that we will be back in your office under better circumstances someday, but until then, thank you, again, for what you did for our Jellie Bean.

My 1 year 7 month golden doodle got really lethargic and stopped eating... took him in to Cleveland vets where we discovered 3 boils on him. The said nothing to worry about. In 2 days the boils were multiplying and rupturing. We did a full blood test. They gave him antibiotics and said it is not a cause of concern as all his blood tests came back normal, only his WBC was slightly high. We had 3 visits just for the boils. Following week he developed an eye issue.... instead of trying to connect the dots they misdiagnosed conjunctivitis and prescribed him an steroid ointment and said the boil that were now over 20 are no cause of concern as they are clogged sebaceous cysts. They also said the boils, his lethargy and his eyes were not connected even thou I asked could they be connected. He had 3 seizures yesterday and we take him to the ER to find out he is suspected to have Blastomycosis which has gone to his skin, eyes, lungs and brain. He may lose his eyes. If Cleveland were more attentive and would listen maybe we would have caught the issue way earlier instead of in week 3. I would not recommend them to anyone! Please do not take your pets here - they are negligent and will not listen to your concerns,

They have clear knowledge of compassion to others and the needs of your pet. The care has always been exceptional and Dr. Singh has always been on top of every aspect of our pups needs. He clearly is very knowledgeable about pet care and the correct direction, without it costing you an arm and a leg. He is very compassionate and he takes enough time and patients to explain everything and every possible scenario for your pets wants and needs before , during and after your appointment. He treats you like family, and he truly cares. He always follows up himself and makes sure any and all of your questions or concerns are answered. What an honor it is to have him as our veterinarian. I am so thankful I have found a veterinarian and Bowes Animal Hospital and I guarantee you will be too. If you have a chance, stop in and see if you can meet any of the veterinarians at Bowes, you will sign up immediately for further care for your pets. I began going to Randall Road Animal Hospital back in 2014 when I got my 7 month old lab, Jake…read more.. I regret every stepping foot into this place and putting my trust in them- I recently found out my dog has chronic pancreatitis after going to Bowes Animal Hospital because Randall Road was either closed since it was a Monday when I needed to bring my pet in or they were booked when I needed them most. I've had bloodwork done on Jake routinely when he became a senior- everytime Randall Road Animal Hospital would call me with the results, they would say his liapse is high, quit feeding him table scraps, tho we don't feed him table scraps.. and failed to do further testing to find out what was REALLY going on-I took him to Bowes Animal Hospital, repeated blood work as his liver enzymes were elevated- Bowes recommended further testing as his liapse was high and so was his liver enzymes, which indicates inflammation somewhere.. well, after five years of elevated blood work at Randall road, he was diagnosed tonight with chronic pancreatitis- Not only did we find out he has pancreatitis- he also has cancer. I was told by Randall Road a lump on his ankle was probably a fatty cyst- further testing was done once again at Bowes after Dr said that's not a fatty cyst- came back as soft tissue sarcoma- removal for this can't be done until pancreatitis is treated if it's able to be treated. Lastly, my dog also suffers from laryngeal paralysis- I took it upon myself to research meds to give him to calm him down as excitement causes laryngeal paralysis to get worse... medication Randall Road recommended for arthritis- liberala, found out after doing my OWN research doesn't interact well with dogs that have laryngeal paralysis, so I recommended he be switched. I am so disappointed and most of all let my pup down... please think twice before choosing this place to be your place to take your babies too- I put my trust into this place and was let down not once but three times and have a pup who suffered from it

He came inside after a couples hours and just plopped down heavy breathing. Panting fast. He was in what I felt was distress for 2 1/2 hours. I was getting very concerned that his heart or something else may have something wrong. My daughter found Urgent Vet and I brought him right there. When I arrived, they took him straight to the back and started his examine. Turns out he was overheated and just needed calming. His heart and lungs were just fine. They gave me suggestions for what to do for him on his next play filled afternoon which I will definitely do. They relived me in what was a stressful situation and made me feel better about the whole situation. My puppy and I couldn't have been treated better. I would recommend them to anyone seeking emergency care and will use them again.

However, the communication and overall process were extremely disappointing. I called ahead because my dog had experienced two episodes where he passed out. I was told this could be either a heart issue or neurological, and that they needed to rule out his heart first. Based on that, we proceeded with X-rays. Afterward, I was told they couldn't clearly see what was going on, but there was a possible mass near his heart. At that point, I was informed that their imaging equipment was not the best and that a specialist would need to review the scans for further interpretation. This was concerning--especially since I was not told beforehand that their equipment might be limited. While reviewing the X-rays with me, the laptop they were using actually shut off, which only added to my concerns about the overall experience. I was then told that if a mass was confirmed, it could be a serious emergency (such as bleeding around the heart), and I agreed to pay an additional fee for a specialist review. After waiting about an hour, I was told the specialist saw the same thing and recommended follow-up with a cardiologist. At that point, I was left asking: what was accomplished during this visit? I spent several hours there and left with: * No confirmed diagnosis * No clear answers * No medication, despite being told earlier that treatment might be provided if it was heart-related Yet the total bill was nearly $1,700. I don't believe this facility has the capabilities to properly handle more complex or urgent cardiac cases. Had I been told upfront about the limitations of their equipment, I would have gone directly to an emergency hospital or specialist instead of losing critical time and money. This experience felt like a lack of transparency and clear communication, and unfortunately, it has led me to pursue filing a formal complaint with the appropriate state veterinary board.
