Came here after lunch, and although it was a bit of a drive, it was well worth it! I sampled a few ice creams like the Dragon Stout (looooved how it tasted exactly like a rich stout beer), the Grape Nut (never had the cereal... until now), and the popular Bun N Cheese. Cleveland's Old Fashioned Ice Cream was founded by Cleveland Jackson, the ice cream maker for Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant in Dania Beach for thirty-seven years. Jackson started out as a dishwasher in the famed, iconic ice cream parlor before moving up to head ice cream maker. After Jaxson's founder Monroe Udell passed away in 2014, he decided to strike out on his own. First he opened Localicious in Fort Lauderdale and left that business in 2019 to focus Cleveland's in Miramar. In 2020 Cleveland's opened with 48 flavors of ice cream made on the premises. All of the ice cream toppings and soft drinks used in floats are also house made. In the ice cream cases you can find the usual suspects like vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, butter pecan, and birthday cake alongside more exotic flavors inspired by Jackson's Jamaican heritage like sour sop, grape nut, dragon stout flavored like a Guinness beer, and cheese-and-bun which was inspired by spicy Jamaican buns traditionally eaten on Easter. There are also vegan and sugar free options. The inside of the shop is really cute with bright colors and ice cream wallpaper. On the day I visited they were offering new flavors, guava and passion fruit but I chose my all time favorite cocktail flavor, Pina Colada in a waffle cone. I asked for one scoop and the serving size was huge. The ice cream was filled with my favorite flavors of coconut and pineapple. It was like a tropical escape. This ice cream is top notch as evidenced by the many awards that Jackson has won on display. Even nicer, the staff is as sweet as the ice cream. Rummy Grapenut is even better. Coconut rum cream is flavorful and delicious. Dragon stout (Guinness flavor) hits the spot. The bun and cheese ice cream is good but I can't eat an entire cone of it. And, the praline is delicious. There are so many unique flavors. The staff is helpful. They allow you to sample a few flavors to help you choose the best flavor that you may be craving. Found this place not far away and felt it was excellent! Amazing assortment of ice cream and the staff was friendly. Came in for a shake and the strawberry was scraped from the can and into the shake cup coming out thick and tasty with a very wide straw to enjoy the chunks of strawberry. Wanted something for days to come so picked up 3 scoops of Rum Raisin that took me 3 days to finish due to the generous serving! Ice cream was excellent and the best I've had in years. read more

The dragon style was really good. It's not too overpowering. It was pretty delicious. The bun and cheese is also very good with actual chunks of bun in the ice cream service was quick and we were in and out. They do have a lot of options so if they are busier, it will take a while. read more

My first time here and it was a great experience. They have many flavors and a whole section that is Vegan and sugar-free which was a plus. Mr Cleveland himself was there today talking to the clients and telling his story which was nice to see. Popped in today to grab an afternoon treat with my friend and our kids. The establishment is clean, the employees are friendly. The guy that helped us was patient with me because I'm mistakenly ordered a vanilla shake instead of a strawberry shake like I wanted. We also got a pecan praline shake, a pistachio shake, and some scoops of ice cream in cones and cups. They all were great! I understand that Cleveland from Jaxson's opened this place. We've seen him over the years when visiting Jaxson's. It's so nice that he's ventured off and done his own thing too. To be honest, it's not too far off from Jaxson's. It doesn't have the glitzy lights, decor and nostalgic items that Jaxson's has but it delivers if you want some good ice cream and shakes. They have cute decor here too though, the ice cream wallpaper just puts you in the mood for a nice sweet treat. I didn't try the cookies, but they are huge! I am going to try one of those puffle cones in the next time I come. The prices are decent and they are not too far away from my house. Came here with the kiddos for an afterschool snack. Super convenient location in a very busy area. Restaurant was nice and clean. Plenty of cashiers and assistance as well as indoor and outdoor seating. When I came the register was not accepting credit card payments so I had to leave and get cash. There's plenty of options including vegan options. Took off one point due to music...be mindful of songs with cursing. Might be okay for some but not my kids. I came here for the 1st time last year & I have been hooked ever since. As you can see from other reviews, their ice cream clearly speaks for itself. They offer over 30 flavors of homemade goodness it's almost impossible to pick just 1. No need to be shy asking for samples because the workers always seem to be in good spirits & are usually very friendly! When you enter, the smell of freshly cooked waffles will overcome your nose. The 1st time will be a little overwhelming due to their coolers stretching from wall to wall & seeing their large menu listing all of the available flavors/cone options/toppings. Ask all of the questions you have because I surely did & it was for the best. I usually steer clear from chocolate flavors because I'm a much bigger fan of vanilla, but after trying their Rocky Road I was instantly hooked. The chocolate isn't too rich & it's LOADED with chunks of almonds/fluffy marshmallows. You literally can't take a bite without getting all of the ingredients at the same time; no complaints at all! Also, I can't recommend getting the "Puffle cone" enough. They're made to order & poured freshly over the waffle iron right in front of you. It makes an amazingly soft & warm cone that seems to get better each bite. Even as you get down to the end, any ice cream that's melted is soaked up by the cone which tastes amazing. They're very big so you definitely get your moneys worth. If you're in the area you must try out Cleveland's. Even if you're far away I say it's well worth the drive. read more

This place is in a absolute gem in an area off the beaten path. It is located in a discreet strip mall and when we pulled up, there was a mobile detailing station in the far reaching part of the parking lot servicing some cars. From there, we found parking right in front with a "30 minute" limit sign. We were there on a Sunday in the late afternoon. Once inside, there were only a few people there and no line.
