After having a great meal in the 1933 Restaurant above, the Mrs & I went downstairs to The Lounge. There was live music & good atmosphere with a full bar, booths & tables. The Mrs ordered a lemon drop martini which she did not like. I took a sip & must agree, it wasn't good. Next time she'll just stick with a glass of Prosecco sparkling wine. The service was very good, even as the place became more crowded. The waitress was constantly checking on her customers & bringing drinks to the tables. Ok so im going to give this place one more star than i normally would have because i know the surroundings would otherwise be a really cool joint to hang out in......just not on the night i went. Down a little staircase in the historic Boulder Dam Hotel lies a space that comes alive after 4:30pm with a dimly lit venue where cocktails are served...they claim it is like a speakeasy. My first impression was "wow this is cool".. that all came to a screeching halt quickly. While looking at the cocktail menu and after telling the waitress we weren't sure what we wanted yet, she just stood there hovering over us until we ordered....awkward. She wasnt even friendly. No smile whatsoever. Usually there is a live band that plays here....but the night we went apparently there wasn't... thats okay as we just wanted to sip our drinks and snack on the bar mix they brought which was very good. The quiet drink i expected to have was quickly overpowered by a boisterous and even obnoxious couple at the table in front of us who spoke loudly about themselves to a guy who possibly was the owner. Every other word was "I" and "me". I couldn't imagine who wants to hear their entire life story. They even fought over who is leaving the tip...cringeworthy. Well I was very relieved when these two left and I thought I would get a little better but it didn't. The Guy I assumed to be the owner, and the waitress were discussing the waitresses drunken ex boyfriend and how also how the bar mix is given to him on a deal at Costco otherwise he never be able to afford to give it away.....yikes. Talk about washing the classy right out of the place (and the experience) So these reasons are why I said it would have been a nice place to hang out, but that was mildly ruined by them and their customers. I love a good "speakeasy" vibe to a bar! Cleveland's The Lounge is just that vibe without actually being a true speakeasy! Located in the small basement of the historic Boulder Dam Hotel, this space was once perhaps an actual speakeasy! Upon entering the lobby of the old hotel, immediately to your left is stairs leading to the lounge in the basement. It's dimly lit upon entering the bar, with tables and booths a plenty, and a cozy stage located in the distance! The bar itself is quaint, nicely done without being too fancy for the "space", and gives everything the feel of a prohibition era! The wines are very good, and at $8 a glass for a decent Cab, I left wondering how cool this space may be on a Friday or Saturday when the live musicians are in the house! read more

A delightful new speakeasy like club, attached to the historic Boulder Dam Hotel! We were staying in the hotel on a Wednesday, so it was a quiet night at the bar, just us, a couple other folks and the bartender, Isaac, right around the 5-7 hour. He made polite conversation, and mixed a great drink! I personally loved how organized everything was (maybe due to its newness). They had very good choices for hard alcohol as well, nothing was anything "too cheap", so even well drinks were higher quality. If you stay at the Boulder Dam Hotel, you get a first drink special, which I think is very welcoming to hotel guests. If you aren't staying at the hotel, you should stop by anyways as prices are very reasonable! Definitely under $8 for a drink, maybe even two, depending on what you like! They offer a variety of snacks that you can purchase for under $3. The vibe is very relaxing with a touch of secretive. The bar is just to the left of the hotel entrance, down a staircase. It is a large open space, with plenty of comfy areas to sit. It has a small staging area, where we were told they hold live music on the weekends. We were told it is more of a Jazz type lounge, where the music is softer, and allows for patrons to still have conversation. I am very happy that we were able to try this place out. I hope they continue, because I would love to be able to come back sometime next year. Come support if you are ever in the area. read more

They make them and serve them in a copper mug and copper straw. The bartenders are very professional. They always make my drinks so perfect! This was a hit and a miss, so let's talk about the hits first. Hidden in the basement of the historic Boulder Dam Hotel, the small space is dimly lit, giving it a speakeasy/lounge vibe. There is a variety of seating, allowing for small groups to an intimate party of 2. When we were here, there was a lounge-style performer named Michael- he was amazing! The cocktails are great- I followed previous recommends and had a Moscow Mule. It was perfectly made. But now, the misses. Granted, this was a very busy Saturday. (Lots of customers from an earlier beer fest arrived, definitely having been over served, and temporarily ruining the mellowness of it all.) But my main complaint is the table service. There were 2 cocktail servers, but it seems no system for them, as one would take our order, then after a considerable wait, we saw the other server, holding our drinks, literally asking almost every table if they were theirs. I had to flag her down. For our second and final round, the servers ordered/delivered in reverse and only my husband's drink arrived. She plopped it down and quickly left so I couldn't inquire after mine. About 10 minutes later, it arrives with the server from our first round (!) who asks "did you order this drink?" When I mentioned it was supposed to arrive with my husband's, who had now almost finished his, she replied "we are busy." They were, indeed, very busy- but an order placed for two should be delivered as two. An apology hits better. I did notice the owner talking with customers, checking on delayed orders for them, and actually delivering drinks himself, but he did not do so for us. The overall 3 stars is because of this pretty subpar service and the loud drunks who were allowed to yell and stumble/dance in a venue that appears to be classy. The aesthetic, the music, the cocktails were top-notch. If they could tighten up their service, it would be amazing. read more

We stayed at the Boulder Dam Hotel and when we read about the lounge downstairs, we were looking forward to the live music and weren't disappointed. The lounge itself has a cool vibe to it...dimly lit with string lights around it and on the table in an empty whiskey bottle. The singer was fun and really good, and the bartender, Karen, was super friendly and helpful. I'm always bummed when we visit a place with a bar that doesn't have a blender - and this place doesn't either - but Karen offered to make me a drink very similar to the one I love and it was delish. So what's up with no blenders in bars anymore? Do people not like blended drinks these days? Anywho...she found out it was our daughter's birthday the next day and brought her over a shot that she swore tasted like chocolate - and it did! So we ordered more . Went to Cleveland's tonight for the first time as it was recommended by a few friends. We were hoping to grab a drink and listen to the band that was playing. Unfortunately, we were rudely approached by the owner of the bar, "Cleveland" , who was completely out of line and told us we were not welcome there. In his words, he told us "if we purchased a drink, where would we drink it? Because we were not welcome to drink it there." According to his staff, who was very friendly and apologetic, they told us he was over booked and having a bad night. I understand having a bad night, but regardless you do not speak to customers this way. We have been residents of Boulder City for 10+ years and support the town with everything we have. This is the type of business we do not need here. read more

Boulder resident, came by for a drink and to check out a local band. I was told by "Cleveland" himself that unless I had a room reservation, I would not be served (and in a much more disrespectful manner than that). I completely understand if you're overbooked and understaffed, but you don't speak to customers the way we were spoken to tonight. His staff apologized profusely on the way out, even following us to the parking lot trying to make excuses and apologize for his behavior. Everyone has a bad night, but this is the last time we support this local business. read more

So if you can carve out time after visiting Hoover Dam, I highly recommend the trek up the hill into Boulder Nevada to include a stop at the Historic Boulder Dam Hotel. Nestled down the stairs is a very unusual if not unique bar done in the OG speak easy theme. No televisions implores you to engage with the staff and other guests. The name sakes owner is almost always there to chat with as well as terrific staff to tend to you and your group. Live music on weekend and special occasions. We aren't residents of Boulder City but we go there pretty often from Vegas and we've always wondered when someone was going to bring the bar inside the Boulder Dam Hotel back to life! My friend and I stopped into the hotel a few weeks ago and found out someone has done just that! Clevelands is owned by.. Cleveland with help from his family. Supposedly it gets really packed on weekends with the live music but the two times I've been in it's been more of a steady flow of locals and hotel guests. Their bar is well stocked, they even added Suntory Whisky after I inquired about it! No draft beer unfortunately but they have a decent selection of bottles and light bar snacks for food. I miss bar snacks, why don't more bars have snacks? Anyways the family is great to talk to, very friendly but you can tell they're serious about their business. The decor definitely has a speakeasy/cave vibe with dark rock walls and Tiffany lighting. This is definitely somewhere you can go into and not know what time it is or how much time has passed. It's a perfect addition to the hotel. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars for now is that they're still getting their bartending skills perfected as far as some of the more complicated drinks but I'm sure they'll work all that out and I'm looking forward to visiting on a weekend to see it bustling! read more

'm so happy this place is finally reopened and it's better than ever. It has the same great vibe and entertainment, but they've expanded to Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights for a variety of live entertainment! The rest of the time, it's just a quiet intimate place to have premium handcrafted cocktails with high-end well drinks and plenty of wine, spirits, beer (bottled), and cocktail choices for any palate. A couple of special bonuses you don't see anymore that make this place *amazing*-- designated drivers drink free (if you bring a group)! Also, complimentary snacks for drinkers, plus some for purchase (including a port wine with fine chocolates special). Finally, one of the managers must go through the charges every night, because I found out they refunded me for an accidental overcharge (new employee) on one of my drinks! Being raised in Boulder City is nothing short of being raised by a huge family with many brothers and sisters. Had it not been for all of them, BCs finest, school staff, and my family I wouldn't be who I am today. Although I no longer live there I call it home and still go home to see my brothers and sisters. I usually go home to decompress and escape my stress, just go to have fun and relax and embrace the love of my home town. Yesterday I went to hang out with my sis...one of too many to count. I needed an escape that day. We started out at her house laughing about her garage sale this weekend; her lovely mother's things who adore. It was lunch time so we walked to the Big Ts Cantina...So good! Relaxing and talking about what was going on with me. We left and went to Jacks. Love Jacks never fails to be either a class or family reunion lol it happened to not be that happening, sis says...we can leave I was like yeah. Sis said hello to 2 people sitting at a table as we left no big deal. No clue who they were. We get out front...sis says where do you want to go...I said I've never been to the hotel bar...my entire life. I tell her my mom and her friends would go after work and I want to see it. I believe it was the Spillway when they would go. Sis tells me her ex's brother Is a bartender there but he may or not be there. I said so, we are adults and he may not be there. She did not mention anything past that. We get in there, what a cute place, a true Speak Easy...Ioved it. Yes her ex brother-in-law was working. Rather than sitting at the bar we sat at a little low table off to the side. Sis sat with her back to the bar. Mr. Cleveland came and took our order. Just as sweet as he could be. He knew Sis' drink and helped me with mine. We chatted with him about how my mom used to come in the whole speak easy vibe and how cool it would be to have to come in the side door with a password. He left. We continued talking about how fun that would be and I would be willing to rent a party bus and come up for a speak easy party. Out of no where apparently from behind me from the back door this lady pops up at our table kneels down...doesn't say excuse me...interrupts us, my decompression time... and proceeds to berate my sis about the last time she was there, how she wasn't welcome in there because she spent 4 hours in there and didn't bother to tip her bartender and how she wasn't welcome there...the tip would of been 12 dollars and the last time I checked tipping was optional...if she didn't feel like tipping her ex brother in law...so what. Just so happens it was not intentional. Turns out this was the same same women who was having drinks at Jack's... and co owner of the establishment. She spoke about sis not being professional...wanted us to leave and how she was not welcome. Ruined my entire experience, my zen time my decompression time I so needed. I lost my shit! I cussed her out. She was rude, unprofessional and out of line. She didn't know who I was..thank you for ruining my first experience in a place I've always wanted to see and for ruining my much needed escape from people like you. My sis apologized to Mr. Cleveland...she told sis you don't apologize to him...I'm the co owner. As I was cussing her out I paid the bill and still left a tip. The bartender was professional and did a good job. I was 86d rightfully so...anyone that knows me knows I don't lose my composure for just anything and I never!!!! Use the C word...she had it coming...could I of been better absolutely. She shouldn't of came and confronted one of her customers after drinking, in front of a stranger. She could of politely interrupted us asked to speak with her privately to not embarrass her in front of her guest. That would of been the professional thing to do. I will never step foot in there...nor will I bring a party bus to have a party and nor will I endorse this place! Which is unfortunate because Mr. Cleveland and the bartender were very nice.
