I had a power supply issue, they quickly tracked it down to the issue pretty quickly, and realized to fully fix I would need the manufacturer. But they gave me extra equipment to BORROW to circumvent the problem in my PC so I can use it as normal until I decide what to do. They were very patient until I took my time and called back with a decision of how to proceed, when I decided to just buy the part they leant me rather than have a dell technician work on the PC. Peter was great! We had an issue trying to send a WIFI signal across property. He came out and diagnosed the issue as some bad hardware. Peter ordered the new parts and up and running for several weeks now without one issue. What I appreciate most is Peter showed me what I needed from Amazon and gave me the option of purchasing or him to purchase. But NO added mark up like most businesses would do. Most of their work we complete online; however, when problems with computer, hardware & software, I take my equipment & the company I work for equipment here for repairs. This place is great! I had an error on my laptop for about a month and just lived with it....I finally remembered meeting Peter Huemer (the founder and CEO) months ago and still had his card with me. Thank goodness for small favors. I took my laptop in, told them what I had been dealing with - the staff was really nice (they didn't treat me like an idiot like some other shops will and do) and a day later my laptop was back in my arms and as good as new. DO NOT COME HERE. I brought my lap top in to have the fan replaced. The technician who took my computer was very polite and had me fill out a form detailing that I needed my fan replaced. He estimated the cost which turned out to be very accurate (around $140 for parts and labor). HERE'S WHY THE 1 STAR RATING: When I got my computer back they had replaced the fan as they said, but also went in and altered my start-up settings and other software and even installed new software! At no point did I request or give them permission to alter any software on my computer. I had a purely hardware issue. Beyond turning on the computer to confirm installation of the part there was no need to alter anything that I had set. I am so annoyed at this blatant disregard for my privacy. They had my phone number and were in contact with me throughout the repair and could easily have asked if I wanted this service. I will never come here again. read more

I'm furious. I've used these guys several times and their service has been fine, nothing special, but I wasn't dissatisfied. They could be nicer/more personable, but hey, they're computer geeks, customer relations probably isn't going to be their strong suit. But, this morning I looked closely at my nifty cool-looking HP Slimline and it has a STICKER ON IT from when I just took it in to User Friendly. Seriously?? They put a *permanent* (it tears when I try to peel it off) business-card-sized sticker on my personal property, advertising their business? That's vandalism in my opinion. Could they have just given me a sticker with my receipt? Or put something on there that was easy to peel off? Or given me a magnet for my fridge? Sure, and I'd be cool with all of those things. But THEY PUT A PERMANENT ADVERTISEMENT FOR THEIR BUSINESS on my personal computer. Lack of respect doesn't even begin to sum up that kind of action. They just lost my business. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I first brought my laptop to user friendly because it was overheating, and I wanted them to see why it was running so slow. They said they cleaned all of the dust out so it wasn't getting so hot anymore and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I brought it home, and that night my laptop started freezing up really bad, programs were crashing and my laptop was not useable. So I brought it back the next day and told them there was something really wrong and they needed to check it out again. Well, about 2 days later, I get a call and they tell me they weren't really sure what was wrong, but they could reinstall my whole system and see if that did anything, other wise its going to need a new motherboard. So after the reinstall did nothing, they tell me they can't fix it and to bring it to "Click Away" computer repair around the corner and have them put a new motherboard in my laptop. I'd also like to add, every time I tried to call them to see what was going on, they'd tell me "oh we will call you back in about 30 mins to talk to you about it" and NEVER called back! I had to keep calling them to try and get any kind of info from them for like 2 days. So, I bring my laptop to the other place, and within hours they call me and tell me these guys have no idea what they are talking about and that I just needed a new hard drive, and they weren't sure how they couldn't figure that out. I also had to call user friendly back because they never put my laptop charger back into the bag, it wasn't there when I brought it to the next computer place, and when I picked up my laptop from user friendly, I brought it straight to click away and it wasn't in the bag when I brought it there to leave it with them. They refuse to replace it even though they are the ones who messed up and lost it. Now, I am totally screwed for this week because I had work I needed to finish and can't plug in my laptop. Plus I've paid all of this money, and everything to have a working laptop, and I can't use it now thanks to those idiots! This place is a total joke. And the fact that they are not replacing the 80$ charger, that I cannot afford is bullshit. I experienced blue screen crashing on my PC and took it first to ClickAway in the Sash Mill for their free diagnostic. After 2 days of not hearing from them, I called to check and was told that the crashing was due to multiple viruses and malware, that I had corrupt system processes, that my hard drive was about to fail, and a few other problems, with a total of $800+ required to repair (I paid $650 for the PC). I thanked them for the free diagnostic, and walked my PC over to User-Friendly Computing on River Street. Eric told me a diagnostic would cost $50, which could be put toward the cost of any required repairs. I left the PC with him, and he called me 4 hours later saying one of 2 RAM modules had a failure and could not be read nor written to. Cost to repair: $40 for a new RAM module + $99 labor (1 hr.), and he could have it done by that evening if I needed it. I authorized the repair and a next-day pickup, and am happily writing this review on my PC. Need I say more? read more

Instead of charging me to replace my water damaged mouse track pad (parts+labor ~$170---a much lower quote given by other stores when I called), they simply deactivated the tracker pad (for free) and recommended a wireless mouse ($10 office max). The guy at the front counter spent 5 or 10 minutes looking it up & going into detail about it. Turns out it wasn't that hard to fix, much cheaper to do it myself. No, not these guys! Brought a laptop in with screen flicker which got worse depending on how the screen was angled. Sometimes it was usable. They recommended that we replace the screen. They did. Still flickered. They gave me a refund but said they had to put the old screen back. After 9 days I went back for it. They said they 'disconnected it' internally so I could use an external screen. I asked them to please reconnect the screen so it would be in the same state when I brought it in. Turns out they broke my original screen and tried to slide it past me.... No recompense, no standing behind their work. read more

I brought my computer in with serious virus problems. They did not do what I asked only part and charged me for their mistakes and held my computer hostage until I paid the extra amount, taking no responsibility for their own errors. I had trouble with two computers, the second they told me that one was not repairable. It was under warranty and I had to call the company and speak to their tech before they would replace it. Excellent experience; the employees here are prompt, courteous, and honest. I brought my computer in yesterday morning with a potential backlight issue. They were unable to replicate the problem (computer is working fine now), so they sent me on my way-- no charge, even though they checked out the hard drive and cleaned some dust out of the fan.
