This business did an excellent job transferring my files from an SSD External Hard Drive holding the data from my old computer, onto my new computer. They also did some clean up of the system and removed some software that I did not want. All of this work was done at a very reasonable price and they did not charge me extra for the additional work. The first time I went there years ago there was nothing they could do to save my laptop but they managed get the important files off of it and only charged me for that instead of charging me for the attempted fix as well. My computer hard drive crashed and thought I would need to buy a new computer. Instead, for a great price they were able to install a new hard drive and bring computer back to like new condition. When I set it all up I ran into trouble with the touchpad scrolling feature and called to see if they could help over the phone but it needed to be brought back to be looked at. Quist kept me informed along the way as he worked on it and when it was ready to pick up I was pleasantly surprised there was no extra charge. They are always very friendly and know alot about computers, but are not the best place to go to get photos and information off of a hard drive. I brought in an old computer for this service and paid $50.00 to get it looked at and then was quoted $250.00 (!) for the service as they said the hard drive kept failing. I took it to Santa Cruz Electronics and the service was done in two hours and for only $50.00 with zero issues - amazing! Possibly the equipment and expertise Santa Cruz Electronics has in this particular area is better, I'm not sure, but I'll be taking my computer needs to them from now on. read more

When having a computer repaired, I have to trust the people I'm working with, because I know so little about computers. For all I know, there could be a loose wire that requires a 25 cent repair, but the technician could charge me $800 for a new monitor. It's an act of faith to trust the person working on my computer, so I always get nervous looking for service. When the screen on my Macbook Air stopped working one week after my warranty expired, I was incredibly annoyed and concerned about the cost. Rather than drive over the hill to the Apple Store, I went to Pleasure Point. Within six hours of dropping off my computer, I was given a free diagnosis of what the problem might be. Best of all, the Quist, the technician, told me that if he tried to fix it and couldn't, I wouldn't be charged for the parts or labor. Wow. Normally, you pay regardless. I thought that spoke to his integrity, so I authorized a repair. He recommended used parts to decrease the cost, which I approved of. I put down a $300 deposit, and he started the repair. A week later, Quist called to let me know my computer was ready. It's worked great and I haven't had any issues. The only reason I don't rank the shop as five stars is that it was relatively slow getting the work done. More than a week without my computer was definitely a hassle. Apparently, Luigi was on vacation, meaning the shop was down a man, but as a customer that was inconvenient. However, the service and quality seem great, and I appreciate the friendliness of the employees and the local feel. read more

I can only repeat the consistent theme. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. And results. Worked with Luigi on a frustrating Mac issue. I'm fairly technical so I already spent a lot of time on the usual suspects. What really paid off is Luigi's experience with Macs - the latest issues and problems. He knew of a recent change from Apple on a default setting that nobody would suspect. That was all it took. That was what I was depending on - that they would be up to date on the latest. Part of that stems from the fact that they do a high volume and see a lot of Macs, not just PCs. I also heard them explaining a situation to another customers who was not technical. Very patient. Great educators to communicate what needed to be known by the customer. I know they don't do it for this reason, but it sure makes someone feel confident they're not being taken advantage of or getting an upsell when someone takes the time to explain things to them in terms they can understand as a non-technical person. read more

I thought at first that the services they had provided to me were excellent and I guess it was only because I finally was able to get my laptop back! The first two times it was due to a broken screen which could've been solved quickly by ordering a new one from Apple, but they took a month and half the first time then two months the second. Then my laptop would not turn on due to an orange soda spilling on the keyboard. The bill was being paid by a non profit I am associated with, they called them and told them (a week and a half later) that a ton of coffee was spilled on it!!! They said it was irreparable! Little did they know that I already had spoken to apple support and I should've just had it repaired there, but the non profit wanted to pay for it and now they do not have to nor do they need to keep giving these idiots anymore business! I do not even think they opened it up, because every tech I have spoken with says that you clean it first and to just leave it with any liquid visible if that was the case is very unprofessional! But to lie about it and even say my data would be irretrievable is completely demeaning and just bad business. I am writing to consumer affairs next so that documentation can exist in regards to the type of standards that are used in their business dealings. read more

Last year I tried to get them to fix my computer. Blue screen, something of an easy fix according to my IT friend. I give them the computer. I did their diagnostics, and it is generally a free service and was 25 dollars with them, and they said we can fix it. So I gave my computer to them. They called and gave it back 10 days later, and then handed me a list of other services provided for me like downloading another version of adblock and some free knock off protection software (i had had versions of both before the blue screen) and they said I had had a virus but they had taken care of it. I didn't have an operating system at all, just a blue screen, so I was surprised to hear that I had a virus. They charged 200 dollars and I went home and pressed the on button. Blue screen. No buttons work. Just blue. And yes, no OS to infest. So they didn't change anything, anything at all. I went back, left the computer with Luigi. And I went home. And upon grabbing it again.... I was just enthralled to see the same blue screen. I needed it fixed, plus I'm kind and I don't know why. I gave them another chance. More chances. I had dropped this money. So I did it again. Then, after it happening three more times, each marked by a pure blue failure and increasingly odd moments of them saying I was all set and it was fixed, looking at it, i, after returning home and having the blue screen of death again, still in good spirits and for my part kindly believing that they were making a one time mistake again, I went back for the last time to drop it off. But wait for what happened next. According to my friend, an IT, I just needed them to burn windows onto a cd then redownload it on my computer, and you can do it easily, if you have another computer. But on pointing out I had asked them just to do this, the mask fell and they said it was my fault. They told me I was "doing something to break it each time" though I only pressed the power button... yet they refused me a refund. Luigi, I believe: "I don't know what it is you keep doing!" They couldn't perform the task, but they still insisted on keeping the money, and I wouldn't usually bother with a review, especially so far in the future, but the very last encounter was just plain strange. I put it down. Opened it. Blue. And so they actually tried to convince me it was working, with the open blue screen in front of them. I cut them off and said I wanted a refund. I'd wasted my time. They said I was wrong, I wasn't disappointed and didn't want a refund, because my computer was working. One said he's an expert, he's been doing this for decades... And I said "Ouch." The younger guy Luigi leapt in then, on the heels of the other one's bold proclamation and began raising his voice, saying I was probably messing it up on purpose. He said "look, kid, we know what we're doing here." I nodded. He said "We don't know what you're doing to break it!" I said "Look, i'm not breaking it, but here, i don't care, I just want a refund." He said "we can't give you one because we can't give refunds to people who are trying to break their computers after we fix them." I said "don't lie to me." He said "I'm not lying I'm pretty sure you're breaking this computer on purpose!" I said "so you think I'm just crazy, breaking a computer over and over to bring it to you?" I thought about this, and thought of the 250 dollars I had wasted. I could probably make them give it to me. But I didn't want to hear more from these men. I wanted to express one more thing. A true thing, so they could learn, and with this thought I suddenly realized how bad I felt for them, not only because of what happened after, but in that moment I was angry for being scammed and condescended by frauds and I sized up the interaction and put it into a word. "Disappointment." And began walking away. I must have struck a nerve. There was a short silence, and then something happened that really stuck with me. The younger guy was laughing, like he was crazy, suddenly, loudly, and louder and louder as I walked. I didn't turn. It was like cackling, it was childish and strained, and louder and louder, and I wanted to give him a surprised look or something, but he layered it with such excess force, and I didn't turn. I thought how odd to hear this grown man doing this. How odd to be so abrasive as a person, on purpose. It would have made me feel somewhat threatened honestly... if it all wasn't just so lame. He was trying too hard, but if only he would redirect it at his job. He did successfully redirect my attention from his boss though.. I would put 2 out of 5 for the story, but these fellows still won me out of 225. If Luigi sorts it out in the end, hopefully if either continue computers, they stop scamming people and figure out legitimate discourse and don't feel the need to resort to mistrial by insanity. Luigi is a stand up businessman. I told him my issue over the phone and he asked me to hold while he looked at the disassembly diagram to create a game plan to fix the USB on my laptop. After a brief hold, he told me to in order to replace the USB I would have to replace the motherboard and it would be costly. He said, however, I can get a thunderbolt to USB adapter on amazon for ten dollars and my problem would be fixed. I own multiple businesses and deal with and have dealt with a hundred different vendors from across different industries, there's no other vendor like this guy. I took my laptop here and they said they would need to send it out to get it repaired, they told me it would take a few weeks so I waited a few weeks and forgot all about it till about two months later. This whole time I never got one phone call. After about two months all together I remembered and went in to check on the process and when I went in they said that since it's been over a month they sold my MacBook Pro that cost me 1000 bucks and told me sorry I'm out of luck. I think these guys had it planned they whole time to rob me. They are very unprofessional and don't seem to even know what they are doing. Don't come here they are thieves. read more

My experience at Pleasure point computers was fine up until recently, I was very disappointed with the way they did not resolve my problems with an xbox I had purchased from their store. I purchased an xbox360 used from pleasure point computers in May 2012, less than 3 months after I purchased it the xbox360 stopped working, I took it to pleasure point computers and they did an exchange and now less than 5 months later the 2nd xbox360 has failed from the same problem. I took it down to pleasure point computers thinking they will probably exchange this unit or repair it for free since this is obviously a known issue with their repairs (what is the likelihood that the same problem would happen on 2 different units without being used for more than 5 months). I arrived at pleasure point and they automatically recognized me, I explained what had happened and they told me the warranty period was up and that I would need to pay for them to repair it. I asked them how long the used xbox360's normally last, they said they do not have a way to accurately know, and sometimes they last 3 months sometimes a year. I was also told that they may not be able to repair the unit, and if not basically I would be out the $100 in less than 1 year for the use of this xbox (note: I am not an avid gamer, I play about 2 hours a week on my xbox360). I have never worked for a company that offered a product, knowing that it may not even last a year in the consumers home, especially not a gaming console. I would recommend that if someone is looking to purchase an xbox360 that you just purchase a new unit with a manufactures warranty for $179.99 from walmart. If pleasure point computers had told me that their refurbished units (they repair themselves) lasted less than a year, I would have just bought new. I just picked up my repaired xbox360 from them yesterday and yes they charged me for the repairs, we will see how long the repairs last and I will update this posting. read more
