Bagels taste exactly like McDonalds bagels but cost three times more -- stale and bland. Home fries were horrible, tasteless. Bacon egg and cheese sandwiches were somehow cold. Service was very slow. I've been coming here for years and have never had a problem. Coffee is excellent & the breakfast sandwiches are too. I've gotten other items off the menu as well and enjoyed everything I've gotten. I've been saying for about six months that I was going to go into this place and try their bagels. After being in there for about five minutes, I will never ever step foot in Clifton Bagels again. I'm kinda snobby about my Jersey bagels, frankly they are the best. This place had good reviews, but my experience wasn't anything near that. I went on a Thursday afternoon and surprisingly, it was busy. I stood in line for about five minutes. Looking around me, all I could notice was the cleavage of two women, SLAMMED in my face. I'm a straight female, and honestly I couldn't stop staring, thinking some creme cheese was going to get stuck in there and never return. One of the employees was taking care of a woman in front of me and the other proceeded to help the guy behind me; dismissing me every time I tried to order. I waited and waited, and finally I was so disgusted (because the employees were helping everyone that showed up after me) and I left, my mouth still lingering with a bagel craving. Sometimes, cravings just aren't worth fulfilling... I'm really upset because this is perfect location to just grab a bagel on a Saturday while I'm out grabbing groceries. Unfortunately, I will not be going back for bagel and a peep show anytime soon. read more

I'm a little concerned about the health and safety of its clients. I ordered a salad and salmon on the side. They accidentally gave me salami. I called them back to let them know of the error since the only meat I consume is fish. My receipt said salmon, therefore it was a packing and delivery error. In good faith they promised to deliver the salmon. What was odd is that they asked for the salami back. I don't care coz I don't eat meat. They took too long to bring the salmon, I called them to ask for credit back since I finished the salad without it. They still came back for the salami. I am a clean person and kept it away from contamination. But who wants to eat food that was left in someone's house for 40+ minutes and brought back to the store. That's just disgusting and potentially dangerous. Needless to say, I will not be eating here anymore. Just that credit of a bagel and I'm done. read more

A deli should be pretty easy but the service is bad. I go there as a last resort. The wait is crazy. There's a woman there who seems to stall on taking orders and ringing them up. You have to keep asking if your stuff is ready because she won't tell you. The guy is good. read more

Extremely friendly staff. Everyone is so nice! That's probably the only positive about this place. What drew me in was the sign advertising bubble tea, which I absolutely love. Living in this area, I welcomed the opportunity to try some from a local shop. I ordered the taro bubble tea at an overpriced $4.50. I figured, sure, why not? The finished product I received was questionable. I took one sip and it was horrific. The bubbles at the bottom tasted over saturated and dense, like they were soaking in liquid for days. As for the tea, it tasted like sugar with milk. Absolutely gross. Bagels are nothing to be crazy about, though those are tolerable. read more

This place is horrible. I have been there several times and each time it was a debacle. They don't listen when you order at all. Today I ordered an onion bagel with butter, 2 plain salt bagels, a buttered roll, and a plain onion bagel. I received a buttered roll, buttered onion bagel, 1 plain salt, 1 plain egg, and a toasted plain bagel with butter. When we sat down to eat at home there was barely any butter on the bagel and roll. The roll was destroyed, falling apart and the bagels tasted stale. I vote for a zero star option on yelp. read more

Since I moved to Clifton from Kearny, I've been looking for a bagel place, like the Bagel House from Kearny..and I find Clifton bagel to be the closest one to my apt. So I decided to give it a try bc The Bagel House is too far for me to drive in the morning:/ Needless to say, the Clifton Bagel is not the sister company of The Bagel House. I don't think they make their bagels fresh but if they do than they don't taste like it. Service was ok. I was looking for only bagels so I didn't try anything else. After trying their bagels twice on two different occasions, I don't think I'll b going back again..unless all bagels shops in N.J. close down, than I might. read more

My co-worked enjoyed their sandwiches, but I was a bit disappointed in the plain bagel with veggie cream cheese - should have other veggies besides carrots in it. I can't figure out if the bagels aren't that fresh or they aren't that good. The dough is salted nicely but the texture is dense. The coffee is always lukewarm. The service is slow but usually friendly. In the land of a million bagel shops, i wouldn't have come back here (many times) if it weren't directly on my way to work. After I ordered my bagel I looked up and saw the sign for bubble tea, that was the red flag that that this bagel was probably going to suck. Bubble tea and bagels do not belong in the same restaurant. That means these guys are trying to do too many cuisines and styles of food, not good. I ordered a sesame bagel with lox and scallion cream cheese, also with lettuce and tomato (huge mistake). First of all, terrible bagel. I don't know if the bagel was stale or if it was just a horrible bagel, but it was not good, at all. No flavor, rubbery texture and hardly any sesame seeds. I thought that with the name being Clifton Bagels, they specialized in bagels, but there was nothing special about this bagel. The smoked salmon was mediocre. Apparently these people do not know what a smear is because they are super stingy with the cream cheese. If they whipped the cream cheese spreads they would be more airy and would spread better, but I guess they are too busy making bubble tea to perfect the food that their place is named after. All of this was pretty bad, but what really killed the whole bagel and the reason that I am actually taking time out of my day to write this review is the disgusting lettuce and tomato, that just made a bad bagel 100 times worse. The sandwich maker piled on a HUGE amount of that terrible pre-shredded lettuce, it tastes like chemicals and has an awful texture, yuck. Then on top of that was a super watery, mushy sliced tasteless tomato, that made the top of the bagel wet and soggy. If they would just get some better bagels, this place could be decent. read more

This place is so awesome, I'm in here at least twice a week. They have amazing salads, sandwiches, wraps, bagels, etc. I usually get the Greek Salad with grilled chicken. By far my favorite spot for marinated chicken. It's so good. While not my number one "go to" for bagels, often times I'm in a bind and craving a breakfast sandwich or wrap with no where else to turn. Enter, Clifton Bagels in the Clifton Commons. Their veggie cream cheese and pumpernickel bagel is always a pleasant pick me up. Sometimes I'll have a healthy breakfast wrap or a buffalo chicken wrap, both hit the spot. Every once in a blue moon I will get something with bacon on it and I'm never let down. If you find yourself there around 2pm you will be rewarded with the entire grill covered in bacon as they prepare it for special orders. It's a total bacon lover's heaven! As a stickler for systems and organization, I find the flow of ordering, waiting for pick-up, and paying to be cluttered and unstreamlined. IF I ran the restaurant I'd have the client order in the back of the restaurant and move to the front to pay, before they receive the food. After that, then you would be able to pickup. I've been there and at times it's awkward standing around waiting to pay and waiting for the order to be finished. read more

Okay I never write bad reviews, but I just came from this place and omg it was the worst bagel ever. First off I asked for a bagel with strawberry cream cheese, and I received a stale bagel with a glob of cream cheese and a glob of strawberry jelly. It was disgraceful. So I naturally needed to make sense of this situation, and since it is next door to a Stop n Shop, my theory is that they have an insider at the supermarket that uses those bagels and cream cheese and they started this bagel place. I'm sorry but that was just unacceptable. What bagel place doesn't make their own bagels? That's not even cheaper.
