If you're looking to try rock climbing, I've got the place for you. Maybe you were already a fan of it and just didn't know where to go. This is the place, with lessons, paid of course, for newbies. If you have your own equipment, bring it, or rent from the source. Inside the main facility, the climbing surface ranges from novice to expert. With over 10,000 square feet of area to climb, you can rest assured you're gonna get a good workout - especially as some of the starting points end in an angle. Those are definitely for some of the more advanced climbers. This is also a kid-friendly activity. So if you feel like they're ready to climb, make it a family day or night activity, and come down for a climb. If this is something you can find yourself doing a lot, I'd recommend getting a punch card, or even a membership - that way you can save money and have fun.

Kalamazoo is lucky to have this little gym right downtown. Some of the new megagyms popping up around the country could take a few lessons from this place. First, the staff were super friendly. They struck the right balance between being chill and being strict about the rules. While you want a welcoming environment, you can get hurt climbing, so you have to be serious too. Overall, great vibe. The gym isn't super tall, but the setters make up for it with thoughtful, bouldery routes. I got spit off a 5.10b only to realize I was messing up the sequence. I feel like that's rare for the grade, but is a sign of good setting. The place also has some cool novelty holds made of real stone. The place is older but clean for a climbing gym, has anchors for pairs of climbers with big weight differentials, auto belays for solo climbers, a nice training area, and a section to learn crack climbing. Basically everything you need to have fun, and if you want to be serious, get strong. Lastly, the price is right. A month eft costs the same as 2 day passes in some big cities. Classes are reasonably priced as well. I got a membership, so I'll be going back.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. A good selection of equipment to rent or purchase. A wide variety of climbing routes ranging from easily approachable to "maybe on the best day of Spider-Man's life". And a more ideal location would be difficult to imagine.

They have shoe and chalk rental options( but we brought our own. The staff was friendly and gave us a safety debrief and rundown of the space. It's designed super uniquely and has the various walls setup almost in a giant circle and an upstairs section. Their grading scale is based on a range (example: Pink is V0-V2, then blue is V3-V4 - I don't know if that's exactly what they had, but you get the idea), They had some fun route setting, but nothing that super stood out, and a lot of it felt similar. It's a growing community in GR though, so definitely seems like a great addition and very welcomed for local climbers. The space was bright, clean and they offered a hand washing sink along with ample cubbies for storage along every section. I definitely look forward to returning in the future and had fun checking it out.

The main advantage here is that the employees (not salesman). Have actually used the equipment that you are looking at. The younger ones do not try to push it out the door (make a sale). Have you ever noticed that if you watch a T.V. show? That some piece of equipment you saw will suddenly show up in all the stores? It is always made in China? When you take I camping isn't that always the time it seams to well not perform as well as it looked like it should? This is the main advantage of this store. Knowing what to use, and not carry twice as much as needed. This was the part that bankrupted one of there competitors. Roots sporting goods, they tried to carry everything, the staff was overrun and id not know what they are doing. Even I could tell. Earth Adventures only does a few things; one of their newest classes that is offered is an emergency preparedness class. This is better than what the Red Cross-offers. Can you pick up one bag, and walk out the front door, for three days? Then have a second bag for seven days? I could just get in my van and drive off.

This place is awesome and the *only* reason it's not getting a 5 spot is bc some of the Camp Leader "oversight" is a bit much but I guess better safe than sorry, etc. But every kid had at least one parent with them so things like the 2-hour long "swim test" could have been avoided by just having a parent sign a waiver...esp when they had at least 3 lifeguards watching a relatively small area of kids. Whatever, small detail but something to consider. The other reason is for the food which was essentially passable but you have to factor in the cost. Each family paid about $70 TOTAL for EVERYTHING for our two night three day stay! Food, lodging and all the included programs, i'm saying 3 days/2 nights stay all included for $70!! (i still can't get over that) Apart from those two minor critiques, the place is an absolute gem in a beautiful setting. Sat outside the town of Middleville (aka "Middle-of-Nowhere's-ville) that is situated in between Grand Rapids (to the North) and Kalamazoo (to the South). As alluded to this place is strictly business. But also FUN. And the counselors do make it fun. The kids were over the top excited and had almost no downtime (unless tey chose to). Both of my kids really love the food, although it sounds pretty standard by their description. The kayaking/canoeing, archery and outdoor skills activities are things they particularly liked. The staff are very friendly and competent and keep the kids entertained and engaged while instilling good values. If I had any complaint, it would be the staff-to-child ratio and apparent lack of a reasonable bedtime for the kids under 10 years old. There are 10-12 kids in each cabin and both my kids complained that they never got to sleep before 11:00 or 11:30 pm. If this is a concern, then a day camp might be a better choice. Despite this, both our kids have asked to go to camp for a second week each summer.

Last Saturday things got all "I do" up in there as two of my closest friends tied the knot. The layout was perfect for a wedding - outside is gorgeous! I'm sure as you just read that you instantly started to have flash backs to your less than impression elementary school dining experience, but it's way better, I promise. The room was tall and neat. One side had nearly all windows and the opposite side was 100% chalk paint, which made it great for writing cute messages to the newly weds. The backyard is peaceful and large, great for playing yard games like corn hole. There were also picnic tables and lounge chairs for the lazy socialite. From what I heard, the price to rent the space for the entire evening isn't half bad, either. Speaking of super popular, Thin Mints are the bestselling variety of Girl Scout Cookies. Thin Mints are produced by both ABC Bakers and Little Brownie Bakers, supposedly with some minor variations in shape and flavor. Some sources say they were first introduced in 1939 under the name Cooky-Mints, while others site 1951 and the name Chocolate Mints. Thin Mints would become the proper terminology in 1959. Each cookie is covered in a waxy mint chocolate coating, with a crisp and crumbly interior portion. These are a hard sell to me as I generally do not enjoy minty desserts (other than mint chocolate chip ice cream). That being said, these were decent. Placing them in the fridge or freezer also improved them slightly in my opinion. It's easy to see why some people live for these during Girl Scout Cookie season, but for me, I can take them or leave them. Just okay. Doughboy_Food_Reviews My Top Girl Scout Cookies 1.
