I have to admit I was surprised. My experience with Clinton Fence was the tale of two companies. I had a fence/gate installed in the Spring of 2024 and it was executed fully, fairly and on-time. Fast forward 18 months and as others have reported, the follow up on repairs are not bad --- they're horrendous. Try and picture if you can what it was like to wait for a cable guy in the 90s -- someone who gave you a 12 hour window and then didn't show up and didn't respond when you called them. Let's start with the fact that the gate literally fell off an 18-month old fence. In what world does that happen? Then, when I called, and emailed to have it repaired, the person picked up and was pleasant and THREE times on three different occasions told me not to worry, that someone would be by between (pick your 3-4 hour time window) to fix it. They never showed any of the times, dodged phone calls, made excuses, and ignored me. They even had the audacity to leave read receipts on their texts so I know they got them and then they continued to ignore me. Do yourself a favor, find another fence company -- this one is a complete disaster. read more

Do not use ClintonFence; their customer service and follow up for any issues is aweful. I had a fence installed over a year ago. Three gates were installed and one of them was made incorrectly. I dealt with my sales person who never responded. I reached out to the owner, and after several months, he sent a crew out who said they needed to make another gate. I was assured by the owner that another gate would be made and installed. I then received a text from the owner that it was all set. THEY DID NOTHING! I saw it and sent another text to the owner of the company and he said his tech adjusted it! It looks totally unprofessional. They took my money willingly, but never came back to fix this issue even when the owner assured me he would take care of it. Stay away, unless you are there to inspect and approve! I Would not recommend them again to anyone I had them do a crossbuck with wire fence to keep my dogs in on the home we just purchases. I fenced and acre of land. the workman was sloppy (gates did not stay closed, concert all over the post and not back filled, wirer not attached properly broken, wavy, etc. I could go on long story short I call several time was told someone will come and fix the issues weeks went by I called and told them I would put this out on social media, them the salesman came out to see all the issue he said he would have them come and fix and again no one has came to fix lol. If you are looking to have a chain link fence installed, this place is hit & miss. For the price you pay, the materials are superior to their competition. Labor, however, is a different story. I have over an acre of land and they sent only two guys on the first day. I was furious and gave HQ a piece of my mind. They do not work on Saturdays which the sales guy who talks to you first never mentions. They got the job done, but it was a slow and stressful process. We had to keep calling and demanding more guys come and work on the fence to get it done already. If you can stay at home for a week, this place may be okay, but if you have a problem taking off of work, it may be a problem if they say the job will take three days and it winds up taking a week and a half. They also smoked and left cigarette butts and chain link debris in the yard. The custom gate that took a month to arrive, had to have the posts redone as the previous crew did not set them in the correct way. My neighbor liked how our fence came out and since we already paid to have most of his rusty old fence torn up, he had them come and do his yard as well. They just connected our fences and did a decent job. However, when speaking to them, they did not appreciate the extra business they got and said not to recommend them to any more neighbors as they did not want to come back to the neighborhood. The workers are all English speaking Americans. A couple of the guys were great, but most were just okay or simply meat heads. I realize now why so many companies hire guys from Latin America to do labor. I never had issues like I had with Clinton Fence when I was having other remodeling work done on my home. Overall I am happy with the fence itself. The materials are sturdy, good looking, and the job got done. However, the delays, the BS, and lack of manpower make this business not one I would recommend unless you have a small yard with no pets to contain and time to stay home while the guys work. read more

Although the fence is not even a year old and is still under builder warranty, the company refused to repair, stating that this was an "act of God" and that I needed to go through home owner's insurance. During the horrific storm on Friday, June 4th, a small portion of one of our fence panels blew off. I called George on the following Monday and within three hours, a repair crew of Jim, Tyrone and Junior arrived. They fixed the problem in less than 15 minutes! I had a fence put in by Clinton and they made the process totally painless. They were the first place in southern maryland to return my call AND show up to give me a quote on time. George was extremely helpful (no bad mouthing other companies like other reviewers experienced) and he even had the info and paperwork I needed to get approval from my HOA. All the work was done over 2 days while I was at work so I didn't even have to take vacation days to be there. I am extremely happy with the results and the price I paid for the service. In July 17, 2022, I contacted Clinton Fence to come out and give me an estimate to repair my fence. They installed my original fence and did well when Chuck was there so I thought I would call them again. They set me up to meet with Mike Warren for the estimate. He came to my home 1 hour early before the appointment and unfortunately I was not able to meet. He never called to see if I could meet early. I'm fact, he lied and said that was the correct time and was very nasty to me. I have the entire exchange on my camera! He said he would not wait. He immediately went to his car and called his office to tell them he would not be returning because of this exchange. I called the office and found this out. This is pretty disturbing that he would call his office and say this when he was the issue. I requested a call from the owner for this complaint and months later never received it. Shelly delivered the message but is no longer working there. I called again, spoke with Kira, and she said Jim Bradford, Sales Supervisor, would call me back and he did not either. She offered to have George come out but he also never called me back. Save your time and spend your money where your business is wanted. read more

We hired them in 2008 to replace our fence. Good service and price. We hired them to do our windows in 2010. The windows are good, but the installation left much to be desired. Caulk around the windows came off within a couple of months, cracked drywall and shoddy caulking on the inside, also a couple of windows are slightly drafty and the mechanism to invert the window to clean it constantly comes loose causing the window to flip onto you (both caused by having the windows poorly measured). 3 years later we are still finding issues ... My experience was absolutely horrible. Paid 1/3 of the total to book my installation on May 3rd and the company dispatcher never booked my installation date. Also, he never informed me about the delay, so, I spent half of my Saturday waiting for a f@&&ing install that was never booked! To add insult to the inconvenience, the company would not accommodate me by booking me for an appointment before the 4th of July. The First problem was I had to call multiple times to speak with someone to get the color picture to send to my HOA for approval! That took a week. After receiving my paperwork I took it in person to the office and Handed it to a young man named Tony! He assured me he would hand it over to George Bowles or Candy Robey- the financial advisor! He DIDNT!!! He gave it to the company secretary and guess what! George never knew it!! Nobody even called me to see how I was coming along in the process so that we could schedule service!!! Mind you! They have my 3200 deposit!!! The only reason I know this is because I called 2 weeks later to see what the hold up was!! So when I call I speak to Gary!! He says we are waiting on HOA approval I say NO I dropped that off 2 weeks ago. Then he says it's ordered!!! 2 weeks later I call to ask about scheduling again!!! Gary says! Oh!! We've run into a problem! Our manufacturers can't get the vinyl dye so it will be another month!!! I am still patient and understanding at this point! So the next morning I go to the office in person to try and speak with someone. It takes over 20 minutes for someone to come speak with me! Gary!!! I say. I just came so that I could speak To someone in person and get an idea of what other options I have since there are issues with my previous pick! He still deflected the fact that they had completely dropped the ball. Well I settled with a new color that he told me was in stock and that it Could be done asap and he would call me For scheduling!! Well I didn't hear from him. So I called George Bowles again and he told me he would call me with scheduling information! He left me a message saying that the 29th would be my start date! Well today is the 28th and I call today to see if we are a go for tomorrow and low and behold!! STILL no start date!!! Still have my money and not even trying to make the situation right! TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! RUN!!!.... I own a large property management company in the Metro area. I've worked with contractors for decades and this company ranks as the top one I've ever dealt with. My wife and I started getting quotes for fences back in March of 2019. Fences are expensive and we wanted price, value and service. We were about to sign the contract with Long Fence but decided to get one other quote. I called Clinton Fence. Their price was about $2k higher than Long Fence but the sales guy (George) seemed much more knowledgeable than the rep we had at Long Fence. We decided to contract with Clinton Fence and moved forward with a signed contract for over $22k in mid April 2019. George told us the turnaround time for ordering and installation was 4-6 weeks. We contracted to have a pool built around the same time as we were have a wedding at our home on the weekend of August 7, 2019. Well the pool was finished in June and it's now August 2, 2019. and the fence is still not installed. They have made every excuse in the book. blaming the manufactor for several screw-ups. First, they stated productions were delayed- The fence finally arrived in mid July but the wrong post were shipped. Two weeks later the post arrived and now thye are using wet weather as an excuse. I just got off the telephone with the scheduler (Gary) and he stated because it had rained last night they felt it was too wet to install today. (well I'm sitting at my window and it's dry as a outside. In fact, I have two other contractors onsite doing exterior work. I request the they come on tomorrow (Saturday). They said they don't work on Saturday. There seems to me no urgency on their part to get this done. Month have gone by and still no fence and more excuses. I tried switching to another company about a month ago but now everyone is in the busy season. Clinton Fence installed a temporarily chain link fence around the pool which was to be there for two weeks. It's now going on two months and its very embarrassing to be locked in my yard with chicken wire. Chain link fences are also not in compliant with my HOA. What a mess!!! Beware of Saleman George Bowles. His sales strategy is to "bad mouth" His competitors with negative business practices and character assassination. I cancelled a verbal agreement within 24 hours of initial site visit and requested return of deposit check. After 3 days of no response from Mr. Bowles, I notified His office that I was reporting Him to the Better Business Bureau. Thirty minutes later, He's shows up at My home with deposit check. He referred to competitor as "a snake in the grass". In My opinion that title is applicable to Mr. Bowles. read more

I think this is a difficult review t ok write because I relocated, bought a very old house while sparring with my estranged husband for support. I needed things done but was really afraid my husband wouldn't pay and sure enough he didn't. Clinton Fencing was not my first choice. When I initially called my salesperson shoved me away. He said old homes were not his specialty. But I kept with it. Enter Natalie. My face smiles because hers is the only name I remember. When we finally met I spoke frankly about finances, the need for a flexible install schedule and my patience because to ensure funding I was willing to wait until the end of work season. I live in a historical home. I had to first get permission from the appropriate rep because I needed to reinforce a very long stretch of fencing with wire and build an entry gate. Natalie endured my need to change the gate size and style to lower the price. Pronto she provided a new design (within 24 hours). We started planning in july and the install occurred in October. No problems at all. The price was on point for me to pay a down payment and the rest one week after install. Clinton Fence billing was great about that as well. I now have the main entrance to the property mostly secure from mainstream traffic driving onto my property and doing everything from vandalism, burglary, theft, people drinking and screwing as well as throwing trash regularly. I found someone to paint the gate and extra frencing. Now my biggest issue is USPS, Fedex and UPS delivery personnel deliberately dismantling the lower bolt of one of the gate doors, kicking, slamming and ramming the gates open. The guy that came out to give me the estimate was top notch. Would give him a 6 stars if I could. Answered everything, no pressure sales. Great price; less than I thought it would be based on on-line estimates. They were backed up for weeks giving quotes and he stopped by same day on his way home from work. The workers that came worked long, hard days; no slackers there. I made sure I was here when they first came so I could talk to them. I don't even think they read the order; I was taking down a 20 year old fence and replacing it with one that increased the size of the back yard. If I wasn't here, they would have put the posts in the same holes. They were also supposed to raise the bottom of the pickets two inches so I could weed whack under there; didn't do that. No communication on their end, which was a little disappointing. Never told you when they were coming or going; I thought they were "finished" but not. Didn't clean up after themselves either and left nails in the driveway. Not happy with one small section that looks a little crooked, but I am picky. To anyone else, it looks like a great; to me that one section bugs me and I will fix it myself. All in all, I think they did a great job and would definitely use them again. Recommending them to my friend. Two suggestions I have: make sure you are there on day one when they show up and Clinton Fence should have someone come to your house after the job is done to make sure you are happy. read more

Clinton Fence replaced my backyard fence in May 2018. First point - they did NOT provide the fence I selected. Second point - The wood was not evenly cut on the top and does not measure up properly. Third point - on the majority of the wood posts there is dried cement. Fourth point -customer service is awful. Fence work was never scheduled, two workers just showed up. My husband has raised these issues with Gary and Scott. Fifth point - One failed attempt was made to remove cement, my husband's phone messages are now not returned. About 18 years ago I contracted this company to install a chain link fence around my yard to contain my dogs. George Bowles was my salesman. I went to work and they installed the fence. Came home from work and the fence had gaps along the bottom as my property goes up and down. I called them and told them that if my dogs could get their heads under the fence then they would dig out and that this fence would be a complete waste of my money. I totally expected to get into it with this company over this issue. Instead the person that I talked to who I'm assuming was the supervisor of the installation crew said that it would be taken care of. I went to work the next day came home and the fence had been completely redone and there were no more gaps under the fence. I was pleasantly surprised. There was no hassle and no argument. They simply redid almost the complete fence for no extra charge and no argument. That's what I call customer service! Now, fast forward 18 years and the terrible storm that we had on August 21 uprooted a tree and the tree took out almost the entire side yard fence. I called them this afternoon to see about getting an estimate. George came out today on his way home from work and gave me what I thought was an excellent price to fix the fence. Clinton Fence displayed horrible customer service when they scheduled an appointment to come out to my home TWICE to build our patio and did not show up. We stuck with them despite those two MAJOR inconveniences since they told us they would have our deck built before the 4th of July event we had going on at our home in Maryland. The deck was not finished until 11 July...THIRD inconvenience. As a result of being unsatisfied with their customer service and at the recommendation of one of their employees, we asked them to compensate us by lowering the price of the deck. The manager asked us to name our price, so we stated the amount already paid (half) is what we should pay. Instead of offering to compensate us in some other form considering we took two unpaid days off, they wanted to settle in court. This is the most horrible customer service that I have ever experienced. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau as well. read more
