Corley replaced my flat roof more than 5 years ago. It's still fine! The reason I'm writing my review today is that I was recently reminded me that we need to value and recognize our honest and reliable service providers. Here's why I put Corley into my strongly trusted set of service companies... 3 guys from a DIFFERENT company stopped by saying while working on a neighbor's roof they saw a flashing on my roof that needed to be nailed down. I told them to go ahead and when they came down, they said my chimney cap was cracked and there was a good deal of rotting of the wood frame inside it. They had photos and quoted repair options from $7K to more than 3 times that amount. I called Corley to get their opinion, they came out within a day or two, and they said my chimney cap was 100% fine! It turns out, my chimney from my 100+ year old house doesn't even have a wooden frame inside it. And they pointed out a different problem, a real one -- I had a metal chimney flue and they saw it was rusted/cracked, but that wasn't in their menu of services . So not only did they save me from the fraudsters, but they saved me from potential damage from the damaged flue which I had fixed. And they didn't charge me a dime for this roof check. There was a time also within the first 5 years of my roof that some flashing or something slipped, and I did have a small leak. I called Corley, the roof was still under the 5 year warranty, and they fixed it promptly. So thank you Corley. When I hear people needing a roofer, I refer them to you. read more

I am quite disappointing with my experience with Corley Roofing. I had a roof replacement in 2018. My tenants in 2019 complained about a leak. They came out only to say it was caused a problem that wasn't their responsibility. I can't understand how a roof that was less than a year old could leak and not be the roofer's responsibility. Most recently they came back to inspect the roof after we discovered rotting wood and missing shingles. Again I was told that it wasn't their responsibility. I wish they had informed me of the carpentry work and shingles repair needed before I invested so much in what I believed to be a complete roof replacement. Do not use Corley Roofing for anything to do with slate installation, slate repairs and/or snow guards--all of which I paid a lot of money to have done. I spent a fortune having work redone because they face-nailed slate and laid snow guard on top of slates. Face-nailing slates leads to leaks. Have not had an issue with their copper installation. read more

We are so glad we selected Corley Roofing for our project. We had storm wind damage where one of our chimney flues broke off and shattered a skylight. Replacing the skylight necessitated new shingles, and we were fortunate in that our insurance company covered the full back slope of the roof. Josh Ralls from Corley Roofing was FANTASTIC from start to finish! Josh was a good communicator, responsive, fair, and efficient working with our insurance company. He was able to prepare a reasonable quote, which our insurance adjustor accepted without negotiation. Josh was flexible and worked around my schedule while I was on vacation. Josh was skilled in identifying several issues with our field adjustor's estimate (particularly regarding the required chimney work and ice & water shield per code), which ended up getting us several thousand dollars covered by our insurance. One of the biggest advantages of Corley Roofing for our project was they could PERFORM ALL WORK NEEDED. Our project required (1) chimney flue work, (2) skylight installation, (3) roof. Several other roofing companies I contacted did NOT perform chimney work so would need to coordinate with a different chimney company or subcontract the work to another company. Corley Roofing was able to do it all, which was awesome and a differentiator from their competitors. This company's extensive track record speaks for itself and there is a good reason they have been in business so long. Corley Roofing came highly recommended so I received an estimate for a roof repair and hired them. Turned out they misdiagnosed the cause of the leak and used up a lot of my saved roofing material and charged a lot with the leak remaining. I asked them if the plywood was destroyed and they said no. It told them that was impossible based on the leak. Turns out they took off good roofing and replaced it with the same in new condition for no reason. When they came back to diagnose the leak again, they found the cause. Used up the balance of my saved roofing material, found rotted boards and charged me again. I wouldn't use them again or refer them. read more

Very pleased. After going through 6 contractors, that provided a wide variety of assessments and estimates, I landed on this company. I was relieved that I could mostly correspond via email (I was honestly fed up with speaking to contractors) in addition to receiving a detailed estimate with a shot of HONESTY. The pricing was very competitive and they even accommodated my request to provide a worst case scenario. As a single mom in an older home, this was extremely helpful. By knowing this upfront, I was able to budget my short-term and long-term projections accordingly. A few contractors told me that I needed an entirely new roof (a roof with 10-15 years of life left btw) in order to get new gutters and my insurance adjuster was not budging on the payout. At first this had me in a panicked and extremely stressed state. I was in fear that I would not be able to fix my home subjecting it to more damage. After receiving the quote from Corley, I was able relax. Then the work! I came home the day the job was done UPSET because I thought they took the gutters off and didn't finish. I was wrong! The new gutters were just seamlessly installed! There was no mess that I am sadly used to contractors leaving behind. I don't think any of the other contractors would have provided such great quality work for the same price. I am very pleased. I've had mixed results with Corley. They have replaced a skylight in my house in the past which seemed to have been an adequate job, though they wouldn't warrant the workmanship. I've certainly had other roofers provide a warranty for their work, but perhaps a skylight is different. More recently, I arranged for a visit to price some additional work. The estimator came, but I never heard anything back. As I had to work around the estimator's schedule and had a leak to deal with, I wasn't particularly impressed with the failure to follow up. Will keep on a list of 5 roofers to call, but lower down that list. read more

Hired Corley to inspect and repair a slate roof on my house in NE in May 2019. Inspection was scheduled quickly, and an area of broken gutter and sheathing was identified. Office was easy to contact including by email. Questions about the proposal were answered within 1 day. The work was scheduled very fast after the initial deposit. Job was completed in one day, with pictures provided. Some delays getting pictures but overall pleased with the work, particularly with the speed at which the job was scheduled and completed. If I could give a negative star, these guys would get negative ten! I don't even know where to begin... My landlord actually canceled their schedule work but they come to the house anyway. They didn't leave a notice that they'd been in the house at all which is violation of DC tenants rights. They did however leave a huge mess in my house and I honestly, I wish I had called the police instead of my landlord. They destroyed the plants in my front yard, left the attic access hatch open WHILE they were applying the roofing material. The carpet in that room is ruined with burn marks from the tar and dirt stains that are permanent. They also somehow knocked everything off the shelf in my master bathroom which they had no business being in. When I sent an email asking for an explanation, I received a rude reply stating it's not their responsibility to make sure items in the bathroom are secure. They did however offer to reimburse me for the plants, however I've not seen a dime from them and seriously doubt I ever will. Do NOT let these people in your house!! read more

I will agree with the negative 10. If you are looking for a professional company to work with, this is not it. Sure, the prices are good, but what good is that when you cannot reach the company and they constantly lie about following up with you. They are not response, honest, professional, nor reliable. Look in another direction if you are expecting peace of mind because you will get nothing but headaches trying to get a schedule and someone to keep their word on returning a call. If you go with them anyway, make sure you ask questions regarding their responsibility when it comes to interior damage and be sure to read ALL reviews. ------------- I received a response via yelp from them. I just had my roof replaced by Corley. Their price was reasonable, not the cheapest and not the most expensive. My options were reviewed and every detail and cost was identified prior to the start of the job. They kept me apprised of the timing/schedule and were very helpful with addressing my concerns and resolving issues related to the job. The crew was experienced and easy to work with. It is too soon to report on the water tightness of the roof but I do know that they paid attention to details and I expect a long lasting, quality roof. I have not had great luck with contractors and usually end up frustrated with their lack of attention to detail and poor skills. Not the case with Corley. I highly recommend them. read more

Corley replaced my roof about a year and a half ago right after I purchased the home. At the time I was satisfied with the work but as time has gone on I've realized there were several shortcomings which will now be more expensive to address. Those are: - complete lack of ventilation - rot under flashing, animals nesting - spots of compromised sheathing I partly blame myself for these, I was a new, inexperienced homeowner in a hurry because there were active leaks, and thus didn't ask all the questions I should have or get additional bids. But looking back I can see now that the inspection that was done was inadequate. read more

I found this gem on yelp and picked them for all the positive reviews. They are efficient, customer service was excellent, the pricing is reasonable, and they have a current payment system that allows you to make your payment over the phone or on line. I just had my roof replaced by Corley roofing and I overwhelmed by the great professional job they did. The crew showed up and went straight to work , every guy knew his job . They tore off my shingles, replaced the bad roofing boards and put on the new shingles in one day. It was amazing. They cleaned up meticulously and I couldn't find one roofing nail on the ground. Our original, builder installed, portico roof had rotted out in a short 5 years and Ralph's crew from Corley's tore it off, replaced the rotted sheathing, set new porch rail posts and placed a new roof membrane in one day. Corley Roofing has done two jobs for me. One, about two years ago, was redoing the front mansard by replacing rotting wood, and with synthetic tiles, and copper flashing. They were careful to control the removal of wood and old tiles. The other, one year ago, was repairing about 1/3 of my rubber roof which had some holes causing leaking inside the building. Both repairs were done quickly, efficiently, and with skill. I liked that they offered options for the repairs. They are easy to work with, and do quality roofing. read more

The roofer also remembered details from the previous visit and gave great commentary on the age of my roof and the previous installation.
