Rude, insensitive and all around jerk. A poor exchange for a vet. Seems to be all about the money.

If they did not respond we were told to take a metal chain and throw it at our dog. Everyone in the class looked appalled. We all dropped the chain far from any of the dogs. The owner, Donna was demeaning to both dogs and their owners. Frequently a full grown German Shepherd would growl at my puppy, and try to bite him. Baxter would roll over on his back and pee, the classic sign of submission. Donna said to him, "don't be such a wimp Baxter." It was unbelievable. Did she want a puppy to engage in a fight with a fully grown German Shepherd? It wouldn't have gone well if Baxter were full size and engaged in a dog fight. Either way it would make no sense.

We brought our 2 year old girl here for the family training classes. The first night, Donna sat in her chair giving us directions on what to do. We were to walk in circles being sure our dog didn't walk in front of us. As we were walking some dogs had little accidents and wow - you would have thought it was the end of the world. She was rude and told the owners to do a better job walking them. Talk about costumer service. However, I hate to say, it gets much worse. Our dog was very vocal at one point so Donna used her as an example of how to get them to stop barking. When our dog barked, Donna yanked her leash (attached to a spike collar Donna insists on using) and our dog yelped in pain. The entire class looked at us in awe. It was atrocious. But, we came back for the second class. My dog was fighting me to even make it through the door. I should have trusted her instincts. During this class she was "training" dogs to heal (mostly sitting in her chair telling us what to do.) I put that in parenthesis because I wouldn't call it training. As you'll see in other reviews, she pulls, yanks, and lifts dogs feet off the ground to "correct" their behavior. I asked her during the class if it was normal for dogs to yelp like that multiple times when being corrected and she claimed it was because the dogs leash was in her mouth - it was not. It was truly painful to watch as she did the same behavior to two dogs following mine. I had to look away. Other people did the same. During the class, two people approached me to ask if my dog was ok and one expressed concern of returning the following week. My fiancé and I decided it would be best not to return. We called Donna to express our concern and ask to be refunded for the remainder of the classes. She was rude and refused. She claimed that not a single dog yelped and our dog was the only one in 8 years that reacted in this way. I would say her response to the situation is laughable but it's truly concerning and disgusting. It's not about the money. It's the fact that this woman blatantly hurts dogs - in front of people and then denies any of it happened. I'm truly fearful of what she does to dogs when people aren't around.

As I dropped her off, I noticed her breathing was a bit labored but wrote it off as just anxiety. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Within a few days, she was in critical condition, and I was unreachable (my phone was off). Regardless, Val rushed her to the animal hospital where they got her stabilized and then spent hours tracking me down. Unfortunately, we lost our kitty that night, but Val and her team were absolutely great! I appreciated their heart-felt condolence card too.

No dogs or other stressors, just a tranquil kitty friendly atmosphere. We brought our prior cat here before he passed, as he had a heart murmur, and we wanted him to have more supervision when we were away. We now have two new kittens, who are both special needs, and wanted to make sure that medication was administered as needed. So even though it's 30 minutes from our house, we feel it's worth the drive for the care that they receive. Our girls (who are sisters) shared a unit. This helped with costs as the price is per unit, not per cat. The owner, Val, suggested a horizontal unit, because one of our girls has cerebellar hypoplasia and can't climb up onto other levels. It was thoughtful of her to think of that, I wasn't thinking about the implications of the unit shape or size, I just wanted them to have space and a nice view. The facility is very clean - when you go in, you don't smell cats at all...which is a major accomplishment when there are so many cats (and litter boxes) in such a small space. And they send photos and videos of your cats to you so that you know everyone is doing well. If you have kitty family members, and want to make sure they're well cared for when you're away from home, check out Captain Kitt's!
