If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My family hired the mobile groomer to come to our house and give our dog, Sox, a bath. Not only did the groomer cut one of his nails so short that it bled, but after the bath large patches of skin and fur started FALLING OFF of our dog and he needed to be rushed to the vet to see what was wrong. According to our vet in Stratford, it appears whatever cleaner/soap was used was expired or contaminated with some bacteria and caused an infection in multiple large areas of his skin. I am absolutely enraged by this situation and will be telling everyone I know in the area to stay far far away from this place... I am in absolute shock and cannot believe this. Not even an offer to give us our money back... $200 for this butcher job and another $700 at the vet because of the infection that this place caused. Our 10 year old Yorkie was banned by Petco years ago because he was too difficult and didn't like being groomed. Out last boarding place could groom him but they closed. They called the fire department on me after I fell asleep because I had worked through the night, so it was really a problem that they showed up 20 minutes late. The firefighters broke my door, and now they won't pay for the door. But charged me for the service. which I will be disputing. FYI they could've just left the dog in the hallway and charged my card as they had it on file from previous visits. Also, the door wasn't locked at all. It is with great regret that I have to write this about a reputable company. I am going to be very blunt and straightforward with this review. To begin this depiction, I called several times and the only return call I received was from the secretary, not the owner Matthew Harwood. I have given Matthew, several opportunities to phone me to discuss my concerns and injuries that my dogs sustained from the grooming they received during the last mobile grooming visit. We have 2 dogs that frequently have been groomed by the Dogfather Mobil grooming service a Golden Retriever and a small Morkie Ashley the groomer showed up and was very personable and friendly and was ready to groom the dogs. She informed me that I needed to bring both dogs to the truck at the same time. I questioned her and said that this was not a good idea to have both at the same time and wanted to have them go separately. She said, "This is how I do it"! So I brought both to the truck and stepped up with and handed the Morkie to her. The Golden was going to the bathroom, and when done, he approached the van and I called him to get up inside. He was a little reluctant but was coming in slowly. He also wore a training collar that has metal protrusions. I had to coax him a little but he was not responding quickly. Ashley went over to the Golden and was pleasantly trying to get him in but he was being slow still. Then without me even having a chance to tell her about the collar, which had slid down to the throat region with the metal pcs by his esophagus. She then yanked him very hard into the truck, I became angered and told her about the collar what she could have done, and what was a chance that the Golden could've been hurt. She seemed a little taken back but we moved on. She then asked what I wanted done to them and I explained to her that my wife said to tell the girl PUPPY CUTS for both of them. She said she didn't know what a puppy cut was. She said she never heard of that cut. I couldn't contact my wife and I told Ashley, well this is what the groomers were told every time in the past and I was very confused. She explained to me that she'd do a good job and not to worry. I said ok, exited the truck closed the door, and went inside. While inside I was doing some meal prep and as with this and most other activities, I have headphones on listening to music or podcasts. This was particularly a heaven-sent distraction today because there were construction vehicles on my road. Our road was being paved and there were a lot of bulldozers, steamrollers, and other working vehicles going up and down all day. About an hour and a half later, over all the noise and the music I thought I heard the dogs frantically barking. I removed the headphones and heard the dogs barking, nervously, I quickly went to the truck, opened the door, and saw the morkie on the floor of the truck, soaking dripping wet, and trembling. The Golden was in the tub being bathed, barking repeatedly and this was out of character for him. Now Ashley was on her headphones too, it appeared to be a phone call, because she appeared to say hold on, moved back the headphones, and I asked her why they were barking so much and why one dog was soaking wet, shivering on the ground. I asked why the morkie was soaking wet on the ground, and not finished, and why would you start the golden without finishing the morkie. She stated that this is how it's done and again not to worry that everything was fine. Then I re-addressed the barking and why was the golden also barking. She explained that they were barking at each other. I said that was weird, they have never done this. I told her that I heard the barking over the noise of the music, and with the construction vehicles working it seemed to be concerning. She insisted again that everything was fine, and assured me not to worry. I asked how much longer, and she said that it would be a little while longer. I exited the truck for the second time and went back in to wait. I kept an ear out and only heard some barking over the next almost 1 plus hour. I heard the ring alarm go off and saw Ashley at the door holding the morkie, and the golden eager to come inside. I told Ashley to come in as I was headed down to take the morkie from her. I took the morkie and put her in the kitchen where my son was. Before I could ask her anything else she nervously stated that they were so "Disgustingly Dirty". I stared at her and said I know that they haven't been groomed in a while but between the visits, the morkie had almost weekly over the past 4 to 5 weeks. She stated that it seemed to her that the morkie slept in URINE. I told her that she sleeps 95% of the time on the couch. I said that there is no evidence of any stains, plus that would leave a disturbing smell of urine if that was the case. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I have an older pit mix with bad hips, who has never allowed me (or my husband OR both of us together) anywhere near his nails (of note: he has many extra toes which means additional nails). Since our vet, who normally wrangles him onto the table, (with the assistance of 4 other staff members) has been on bare bones (NO PUN INTENDED. BONE. CAUSE DOGS LIKE BONES. GET IT??) staffing since March, hasn't seen him, the nail situation was DIRE. A friend told me about the Dogfather, I gave them a call, and the whole thing was so super easy, the chick who came was lovely (and very pregnant, so kudos to her for even showing up on a 95 degree day). We had to lift him into the van (bad hips, as stated), but she was done in less than 20. All good. I texted them again on Monday because the nail situation was dire (again). I had an an appointment for the next day. They were prompt and nice and even though I was able to see the exact moment my dog's soul left his body (they used a dremel after the trim, which he'd never seen) they were great and his nails are on point (not literally). Our dogs team were cleaned and our dogs breath still smells fresh, his coat was extremely shiny and his nails were trimmed. We have other Dog Grooming Services very near us, and though they may be fine we chose The Dogfather for convenience of being able to see the process for our new little guy and less stress for adapting to handling. We could not have been more pleased or impressed. We called between the Christmas and New Years Holiday and was surprised our call was returned within hours with the representative answering a variety of concerns. The date was set and information on our groomer presented. The sparkling mobile unit showed up promptly at the appointed time and "Ally" introduced herself to us and our 5 month old puppy. She didn't even flinch when our rambunctious little guy peed on her, to our embarrassment. We had our little English Springer Spaniel have show grooming. Ally went over our expectations and verified her process. We were able to view the entire process of shampoo, blow dry, groom and trim, ear cleaning and drummel cut his growing little puppy razor blade nails (THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH). Bedford was a nervous and doing the variety of expected puppy antics while Ally continuously worked with patience and affection. Our pup emerged clean and well groomed and content! Bedford loved his new groomer and whimpered as he watched her drive away! WE LOVE THEM! We would not hesitate to recommend "The Dogfather" to anyone. The price was a bit higher, but well, well worth the convenience, professionalism and care given to our dog. We plan to use them as our permanent groomer. We have high standards for services, and the Dogfather exceeded our expectations. read more

I usually don't like to post here but I am fuming. My groomer needed to leave the business and I was told I would get a new groomer the next time. I have no complaints about the groomer but the owner decided it would be a good idea to have her tell me the price was going up and that my previous groomer should have been charging me more for the past YEAR!!! so I called and spoke to a manager and explained my issue and said that if they couldn't work with me then I would maybe have to find a new groomer.....She then said "so you want to cancel your remaining appointments?" Like no care that they would be losing a good customer. I then hear from the owner who said that my previous groomer should have been up charging me for the past year and that it was her fault I wasn't notified. Really??? I thought the owner was responsible for the pricing??? In the end, I will not be using them again. Poor communication!! read more

My sweet, anxious, frightened-of-water puppy hasn't had a grooming since leaving the city. I didn't know of any groomers in Stamford so I took a chance on The Dogfather and my pup and I are thrilled! Craig and Francisco had him in and out in under an hour. Craig had to remove his collar (it was too small to pull over his head) and called me to make sure I was informed and aware and that I gave my permission - above and beyond customer service. It's so refreshing to feel as though you're handing your fur baby over to people who care as much about animals as you do. First time using dogfather mobile grooming in the recommendation of a friend. Friendly service on the phone was quoted $100 for full grooming including inside the ears and nails. When the groomer arrived he was pleasant and my pup went with him willingly. I had no worries at this point seeing as I was given no reason. Unfortunately I should have worried. My pup is a 11 month old shitzu who had some bad matting on his left ear but otherwise just needed a trim, bath, and nails done. I told the groomer exactly how much hair to trim and that I was ok if he had to shave down the matted spot on his ear, knowing how bad it was. When the grooming was done unfortunately I was in a rush to get the kids to their sports practices so I did not take a good look. That night when I was able to give him a good look I was not thrilled to say the least. Choppy cut everywhere, he had abrasions on his body from the clippers. Both ears were completely shaven, the hair in the ear was never trimmed. I'm pretty sure my dog will have lasting trauma around being groomed now. We called the business and notified them of our concerns and his condition. Someone who was not the owner called back, took our info for the owner and said he'd call. We haven't heard anything from anyone yet. Needless to say I will not use this company again nor refer anyone. read more

These guys ROCK!! Convenient, check. Communication, check. Amazing with animals, check. Shining pups, check. From start to finish, everything was perfect. We have a big boy, a 90 pound "ferocious" & scary looking wait for it, baby of a pitbull whose most ferocious tendency will be to lick you to literal death. BUT he doesn't like getting his nails cut. The groomers lit up when they saw him & treated him like one of their own. It was so refreshing to see people who understood the breed & made him feel like he was their new best friend!! (A lot of people are scared of him) He hopped right into the truck with his new BFF's & came out shining (literally!) with freshly cut nails & a big old smile on his face.
