Nowadays in the age of Fitbits and smart phones, I've noticed that not too many people wear analog watches anymore. While I have to keep up with technology in my work life, and I do like Yelp and the conveniences of things like GPS to show me the fastest/shortest route to where I'm driving, at heart I am a luddite. I like the life of simpler times, and I also like analog watches. I view them as functional jewelery. I also feel that watch repair is a dying art, and I want to do my part in keeping it alive. Vahid also repairs jewelry and sells some jewelry and watches in his store too. Although I personally found the jewelery styles not contemporary enough for my tastes. The items looked like things from the estate sale of someone's great-grandmother, lol. I will buy my jewelry elsewhere, but I would not hesitate to come to Fooshin for my watch and jewelery repairs. When it came time to get it serviced, he took me to this little shop on Merivale. Fast forward 40+ years - apparently this shop has been here since 1974 - it has a new owner who's been behind the counter for 10 of those. I've visited many times to get various things done to my timekeeping devices. The service is always excellent - it's fascinating watching him practice his craft, as he makes it look so easy, and what he charges for his service and products is more than fair. I have never had any issues with repairs and any work I've had them do is done perfectly the first time around. That said I do find they can be a little condescending at times as they have often questioned why I would want a piece repaired and they even tried to "out" the karat quality of my wife's ring and were taken back when she already knew and didn't care.

first of all i called on saturday , he got back to me sat night . he said he would be at my house…read moreat 1 pm , sunday , and he was . he gave me an estimate btween $150 or $250 . the price was $250 if i needed a new carburator . i needed a new carb , the original carb lasted about 25 years , not bad . he showed me the carb and it was all gummy , the carb could not be rebuilt . it was on it's last legs . al was a real gentleman , he proceeded to install the new carb and a full tuneup . when he was done , he pulled the cord and on the first pull it was purring like a kitten . i was very pleased . the guy does quality work , and he even had the new carb in his truck . very satisfied !

A few weeks ago it stopped working for some reason. I took it to a reputable jeweller and I was told that it needed a replacement movement, but that the replacement unit would not have the illumination feature because it wasn't available. I decided against getting the repair done and I took the watch to another reputable jeweller. This jeweller also checked the watch and told me the same thing. I also decided not to have the repair done. As I mentioned, this watch is very dear to me and I wanted it to work as it was intended. A friend of mine recommended Master Jewellers to me as he so very pleased with their service. I took there and I told the lady how much I cherished this watch, also mentioning the information that I was given from the 2 other jewellers. The lady was familiar with this model of watch and told me that the illumination feature is separate from the movement and it would be retained if a new movement was needed. I agreed to have the inspection and repair done. A few days later she told me that the watch only needed a battery and the existing movement was operating correctly. I was so pleased!!! Not only did it not need a replacement movement that 2 other jewellers told me it would need , but it only needed a battery ! This watch is now woking perfectly just as it had been for so so many years. I highly recommend Master Jewellers to everyone, especially if a treasured item is involved. They are so courteous and honest , such wonderful service !!
